Marko's voice gets to me every time. It's so powerful, dynamic, emotional and human. But, what I also admire about him is his willingness to look problems straight in the eye and work past them. This is a tough song, and I'm sorry MommaOG, if it was painful for you. I think that the fact that he sings about remembering how those tough times felt means that now that he has a correct diagnosis, he has worked out a lot of things and is in a better place than what he sings about. But, I guess you never forget, and what he has lived through is part of him for the rest of his life. I saw him do an interview a day or so ago in which he said that it's now time to look forward. IMO, that's just as it should be.

No worries. I don't mind being reminded of my hardships and trauma through music. It's actually part of surviving it. Music, along with family and my animals, was a key part to doing that. Reflecting on it now - reminds me of how far I've come as well. I always say that surviving trauma and hardship build us into strong, more adaptable, empathetic human beings which is always a good thing. Thank you again for this suggestion. I look forward to the rest as well! I really enjoy this one!

I’m loving all the solo songs Marko has put out over the last few years. This one is very powerful and I connect to it with my own experiences with mental health issues too. Thank you for reacting to it, and sharing part of your own story and experiences and how the song resonated with you too.

Thank you so much for checking out this song and being so candid about your hard times. I, too, was diagnosed as an adult with ADHD and have struggled with severe depression and chronic pain most of my life. Whatever other causes contribute to depression, chronic pain, and substance abuse, they very often go hand in hand with ADHD, along with a whole host of other not so fun health issues. I also understand your frustration with people judging your substance abuse - my problem is my ADHD, which people seem to think is just a convenient excuse for having difficulty with day-to-day life. I don't even bring it up with family anymore.
I think you would really enjoy Marko's Left on Mars, which will also be on his upcoming album. He addresses the feeling of being an "alien" as someone with ADHD. He has talked and written about not fitting in when he was young, which contributed to his turning to music. The song features Tarja, who was Nightwish's first lead singer. Without going into a long history, they reconciled as friends in 2017. Their bands toured together part of last year and will be doing some shows again this year.
I really enjoy your channel and look forward to more reactions.

I'm looking forward to hearing the whole album too(Roses From the Deep) when it releases on Feb 7. Yes, we've got 4 singles from it so far, the other 3 are "Left On Mars" (feat Tarja), 'Frankenstein's Wife", and "Rebel of the North".
He has another solo album(released 2020), "Stones", "Voice of My Father", and "Dead God's Son" if you want to check that out too.

Cool! Nice guitar tone!! Had to Google. He just turned 59! Is the botched surgery after the recording? He sounds good just for his age!! I've only seen Nightwish on the reaction videos. I prefer this straight forward Metal versus the Theatrical stuff! Great Job OG!! Peace 🕊️☮️♾️😎🎸🤟🏼 Also, always enjoy the outro home shots!

The surgery that damaged Marko's vocal cords was a long time ago, back in the early 1990's. In spite of the fact that one of his vocal cords is partially paralyzed, he still has quite the range. Marko's work in Nightwish is more on the restrained side. His work in his own band, Tarot and in his recent solo work tends to be a lot more metal, though he can still produce a great ballad.

@WNYretiree Nice. From what I've seen on the vocal coach channel of Anna Vaskelainen there are more Metal bands in Finland than here in the U S and it's birthplace! Jealous and Thanks! ☮️
