    This you have to try.
    I wondered how small I could get the 'stamp' to apply to my christmas cards.
    I still want to hand write the name and address (how awful to receive a printed one!!!).
    So I have hand written the recipients name and address on the card.
    Now I go in to the Royal Mail Click and Drop Windows app, and created a new stamp by entering the recipient's details. All paid up via PayPal.
    Then I created the PDF label and snipped just the top part of the label. The bit that says "1st Class" and also the Data Matrix code below.
    I printed this on my QL600 label printer and attached the 'stamp' to the front of the enveloppe just where I would normally place a stamp.
    BINGO!
    I'just taken my card down the Post Office and spoke to the counter clerk. She said this would be perfectly acceptable as long as her scanner could read the Data Matrix code, and sure enough, it did.
    She even gave me a proof of postage, bless her.
    So, I think another update to your video is due. See how you can send letters and cards by using just the smaller parts of the PDF label.
    Maybe even just the Data Matrix image will suffice. I haven't tried this yet.
    (QR Codes and Data Matrix codes are different. Have a look at barcode.tec-it.com/en/ )
    I wonder what would happen if the same Data Matrix code was used twice. WOuld this get picked up at the Post Office counter? Or would the Royal Mail sorting machines catch this. Would the recipient then have to pay the missed postage.
    This is getting very interesting.

    Hi thanks for youe videos (think I've watched them all) but you go from needing a label - to getting that label into a PDF (how?) - to getting into this software that brother use to amend it (P something) - again HOW do you go from one step to another? Hello, I've been following your advice on printing from the royal mail account set up but I've noticed that its starting to print a return address on the label too - cant find how to switch this off - do you know? Thank you

    • @MergeDroid
      @MergeDroid  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Melanie, thanks for checking the videos out.
      Are you seeing that return address on the labels after signing up with an account for C&D like I show in this video? I think it is a default and I can't see how to turn it off, but it is controlled by whatever you've entered as your address here: business.parcel.royalmail.com/settings/addresses/ You can also configure it for different types of deliveries here: business.parcel.royalmail.com/settings/company-identities/ So I'm not sure if you could change it to different text, but I guess it will need to be a validated address.
      If you're not signed up and just buying a one off label I thought it let you select whether or not to show the return address.
      Let me know if any of this helps you find a better solution.

    Hi! Thank you for this video, it's very helpful. Mine are coming out the right size but they just aren't the same print quality as yours - the QR scans but not the barcode, because where there are only thin white lines between the bars they are merging into one. I can see the poorer print quality around the royal mail logo too. I have the same settings as you on contrast, brightness, dithering, prioritising print quality etc, and I'm actually printing at a higher zoom in than you so the image is bigger. I'm printing on the labels that came with the printer so don't think it can be an issue of label quality. Any ideas? Thank you so much for your help and going out of your way to post these instructions!

Ensure you have set the paper size to 62mm and adjusted the fill/zoom, also double check the page orientation, perhaps you have that incorrectly set. Let me know if this helps. Simple way to do it..
    For ebay royal mail labels
    Purchased through eBay..
    Pay , Print label
    Print screen comes up . Select more settings. Select paper size to 62mm x 100mm , then scale , customised. (To fit) then Print.. simple ! Then can use again with settings saved ,

    • @MergeDroid
      @MergeDroid  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I've recently found there's a better combination of the print settings for doing it this way for the barcode and QR code to be able to scan, I'll probably upload a brief video on it.

    I was thinking aswell: is there any way to print the QR / barcodes so that they are the size of the sticker? So instead of cropping the whole label, just crop the qr code so it’s bigger? I’m just not sure if this would effect anything or whether any settings would need to be changed. Your videos are so helpful!

    • @MergeDroid
      @MergeDroid  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi Marnie, thanks. It's great to hear you are finding the videos helpful. If you're not already subscribed, please do consider it.
      You could apply method 1 (using the Snapshot tool in Foxit Reader) to print a larger QR code out, but it'd look out of place on the 62mm label. It'd be great if Royal Mail changed the layout of all labels to be similar to the H&M 48hr Tracked example I show that by design has a larger QR code in a landscape layout.

      Thanks Layton, this might be a good question to stick on one of my Chromebook videos. I hope you like this video too if it's of interest. Here's a solution for your PS4/Chromebook controller....
      Hold down the PS button (in the middle) and "Share" button at the same time for a few seconds, the light on the back will start to flash rapidly with a white light. That means it's discoverable by new Bluetooth devices. Open Bluetooth on your Chromebook and you should see "Wireless Controller" show up, select it to connect. If you're successful you'll get a message and the light on the back of the PS4 controller will go solid blue. I might do a quick video on this sometime.
