  • Zwift Racing is HARD but are B Cat Zwift Races that much faster than C Cat Zwift Race? I should be a B racer on Zwift by the end of the month so to make sure I have a GC time in the B cat for this Zrcing Series. I want to see if I can hang with the B's to register a time. Welcome to the January ZRacing Monthly Series! Get ready to fly through the month with some of the flattest stages Zwift has to offer. Stage 1 goes down Jan 3 - 8, with a lap on one of Zwift’s flattest courses: Tick Tock. #ZwiftRacing #ZwiftRace #Zwifter

    I love it. A friendly season battle between Scott and John for this winter for all of us to enjoy. Some friendly banter on your TH-cam channels, perhaps a meet up where you can thumb and arm wrestle. Can't wait to watch.

      Might need to avoid the Tour De Zwift on Monday to get the fastest group. Not 100% sure I can stay with the pack on the next one though. Bit draggy

    I think you'll progress more racing b how ever it gets demoralising racing for 40th out of 45 quite alot but I'm same as you AVE 3.17 still race b for the extra push. When I mentioned about dirt and tfc mad Monday it was because tfc do races at 3wkg/3.4 cats and dirt low b 3.2/3.6 where it would be a good transition to b. Glad u beat John just to make him no his place 😉😂

    I'm forced to ride B but just because I'm super light...my ftp is like 240/4.15 and I feel like I'd 100% get dropped in these flat races while irl it's not THAT hard to follow the pack

    • @TheZwifter
      @TheZwifter  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, it's not quite right is it with that. In our local club I once held 600w infront front of the smallest rider, I did slowly ramp up the effort but they managed to hold onto the wheel for the duration and then on the other foot, climbs like titans or the run-up to the segment I know I could hang with a higher w\kg group with the rollers but on Zwift it's waaaaay too hard.

    That's weird, because I have power/speed profiles from several B and C races where the starts in C are harder than the B starts and really only end up slower overall because C fields are shred to pieces because the front group is so decimated. In fact the big difference in time was the B front field was larger than C front field by almost 2.5 by the time you hit 3km with over 2x the size of the entire B field in C. B races are easy until they are hard, C races are just plain hard from the gun.

    • @TheZwifter
      @TheZwifter  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Strange you say that as that's what I've found before... mainly raced on Crit City when I used to be a B but yes. B's would settle down faster and not go as hard. Maybe people in this race wanted to do some damage and try to make it hard in the B's from the start so it blunted the legs for the lighter riders on the drag out of the desert?

    • @sprenten1
      @sprenten1 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheZwifter I am not crazy enough to do both races back to back, but I did my B race last night and it was easier in B than C up until the last 2-3km. I messed up the sprint would have had an outside chance at the podium instead I ended up leading out the field sprint in B getting 7th thinking I could go where I went in my C race.

      @@TheZwifter 48s faster in B about 15W more in B overall. The cross over with power happens about 3 minutes in. First 2 minutes was 15W more in C, at 90s it was 26W and at 60s 38W. Same front group size at around 35 racers in 60 racer fields.

  • @repmortskcab8483
    @repmortskcab8483 ปีที่แล้ว

    On this "Flat is Fast," I think you could probably hang in there with the A's, if you have fresh legs. Your HULK-sprint will ensure you will get at least midpack. You are way beyond C since long time ago and the only reason you don't easily win every C race is because there's some other +90kg sprinters guys also "chilling" in C. Chill, chill, chill, SPRINT. No C-race will ever take you to B on ZP or catEnf, unless you reduce bodyweight to some 60 kg, unless you go on early attacks and murder the races solo 🙂 If you want to be stronger, race B. I race B, so that one day, hopefully I end up as mid or strong B before I die of a stroke 🙂 But you do what is most fun for you 👍

    • @TheZwifter
      @TheZwifter  ปีที่แล้ว

      Spot on with that 👍👍 yeah, the idea was to race a critty critty bang bang all-cat race to push that limit into the B’s but I think I’ll just start racing more B’s and it will just happen. Someone said before I’m an A cat Crit racer and a D climber haha 😂 my weight goal is 88kg by September so maybe I could eventually finish mid pack in a B slightly hilly race haha

    • @sprenten1
      @sprenten1 ปีที่แล้ว

      A, B, C it doesn't matter, he's a bigger rider, but A and B races won't necessarily push him up to B level ZP fitness as the hard part of those races is super hard for most of us heavy sprinters in C and you can hardly chill in C anymore with 3.6 wkg ZP B's who CE C's pushing the pace at the gun. I have been doing B races for a year, but never really get pushed past my 3.0 wkg in either for 20 minutes and it usually takes Harrogate UCI or Crit City races to do that.

    • @sprenten1

      @@sprenten1 Not necessarily but most certainly. Scott been racing C's like alot, ending up at podium at many but have no race last 90 days reaching 3.2 wkg. Average 3.02 wkg. It's true that racing B or A won't necessarily make one become B or A but the likelihood is bigger, especially if you're a strong heavy rider with a positive trend. What is odd though is that in Scotts last B race, his avg wkg (3.3) is higher than his 20min wkg (3.2). Use to be the other way around. I have not a single race where my 20min wkg is lower than my avg wkg. Looking at the C's with best rankings, they're all either very young and/or light weight or fairly heavy (+85kg). In B and A, it's more difficult to be heavy than in C, because many have beast fitness/aerobic/anaerobic capacity. Scott is young and strong, he can do it, if he wants to. I'm old, light and a mediocre sprinter so no matter where I race, I have to go bananas. But it's good workout for me 🙂
