I love the streaming option. It works great for me. I especially like that you can navigate through the games and you select them using the touch screen
Considering this is just the Beta version of this hardware update, I’m extremely impressed. I have used my portal a handful of times since I bought it at launch and it was satisfying for what I was at the time, but now it’s actually turning into something I could see myself really enjoying if things keep moving in the direction
Tbh I am overwhelmed how good cloud gaming is working on the ps portal. Mirroring didn’t work for me. I had very noticeable input lag. But now with cloud gaming. Man! It is absolutely great and it is super responsive and I personally do not feel any input lag. It’s great!
@ do you know what your jitter is though? I guess that’s the one that matters when it comes to your home network. Because when you use the PlayStation portal at home, it doesn’t use your download or upload speed but it matters how good your network is. I tested it. The other day is only 3, which I think is pretty good, but I’m not really sure because I never even heard the word before three days ago.

Now I played for hours, and NO stutter at all, not a single one, literally. It’s like to play in local. I really hope they will add the possibility to play the games you buy.

@@konstantinosvl8515 The way i see it is, the price is amazing for such a little handheld and cant be beat for the "graphical games". a steamdeck price is insane and always have to tweak the games to try get it to play nice and its just not for me. This with $120 psn subscription you get all free games they give a month and for now 120 games on the beta. Once PS4 and PS3 is allowed this will be the coolest little handheld for that price!

I wasn't excited to use my Portal until this beta was released. It would also be nice if they updated the software to allow us to use our own Bluetooth headphones/earbuds. I know they can do it, Nintendo did.
What's the point in having The Witcher 3 on the service. It won't let me load up my save as they haven't included the 2 dlc's. The only thing I can think of is that they haven't put the up the complete edition, surely that's what most people have, as it's always on sale.
Yeah the witcher 3 in the portable streaming is not the complete edition that's why you gotta start over in the portable. Complete edition is what most people is playing

This is a save for me. Mirroring doesn’t work at all it’s always laggy and I travel a lot and cannot guarantee my wifi will be good enough for it. With cloud I can get a clear quality atleast, it may cut off 1-2 times in an hour but you will be able to play. Just a note with mobile data activated I wasn’t able to get onto cloud streaming outside my home (think my data isn’t fast enough or I wasn’t in a area it was fast but I had good wifi there luckily).
Would be interested to know the internet speed available, mine only ever looked grainy once when I needed to restart my Xfinity Gateway Router. I have gamed for hours in the last couple of days and never had any other issue.

I just brought me a PlayStation portal after the update and I’m loving it. Don’t need to turn my P5 on anymore. They just need to put better games on cloud streaming.
As mentionned you only need a PS Plus membership, but the cloud streaming option is still in beta testing and has only 200 game available at the moment in a selection of countries, so if I were you, I'd wait just a little bit more, untill they add more games, before jumping in and buying a portal.
Silly question but I see people touching the Portal screen to make menu selections all the time. Can you just use the thumb sticks, in order to cut down on fingerprint smudges?
Yeah you use the buttons for most things but the screen is used as the touchpad on the dualsense so you can’t totally avoid using it unfortunately , are you thinking about picking one up?

How does the save files work? Say I have some of the games on the premium cloud game service saved when I had a ps5. No ps5 now. Does it find them saves? And if I play a game on this. Does it save to the cloud. So if I ever get a ps5. It will carry over
This has been the best update using this feature as a separate thing instead of having to connect to my ps5 has made it easier to use at work and has been way faster than trying to connect to my ps5 and hope it’s in sleep mode and not turned off before I left home

Racing games always look bad over cloud due to the low bitrate, and Sony should have shipped the Portal with wifi 6 if they were planning on allowing cloud streaming
I’m surprised it’s in beta. Runs great for me 9/10. The fact that this is finally here on the system just makes it something you can really take for travel. Sony listened and I don’t care if it’s not original. The portal itself just seemed pointless majority of the time with the hassle of logging into your ps5 system. This really makes it feel like a new system.

@@konstantinosvl8515because you’re streaming from consoles using massive corporation-level internet speeds instead of your normal residential WiFi speeds. It’s probably especially noticeable if you don’t max out your WiFi package and if your PS5 doesn’t have a wired connection
Also hes playing at home so unless you are gonna play it at home (which defeats the purpose ) it's not going to be this clean in the real world using some free wifi out an about

my only problem is not even a Portal or Playstation problem… Everytime i play, a repetitive lag appears like every 40 seconds… i’m in front of my router and the PS5 is connected via ethernet, i really don’t know what to do, it just keep doing this stutter lag every 40 seconds… Anyone can help?

it would still be great if Sony made a portal into which it would be possible to put a sim card and not have to deal with a mobile hotspot from my mobile. Just put the data sim card in the portal like memory cards. I know, I probably want too much, but it would be great

Other than AC: Valhalla, Deathstranding, and Ratchet and Clank, I own all the other decent games, so would be paying £18 per month purely to game when the TV is in use by the kids. If I had more gaming time or didn’t own so many titles I’d be more inclined to subscribe I think.
Can you talk about what your home network setup is? I have a plan with up to 600 mbps and a mesh network I’ve had both seamless streaming, and very rough streaming I’m trying to figure out what other configurations I need to make to my network to create consistency…
Very stupid the point is to be portable but you gotta pay to rent games an you still need a stable wifi connection to play cloud games? Even if it's 250 might as well spend more on a real hand held then get those games an you can play it anywhere. Unless you are at an airport or sitting in a cafe with Internet it's pretty useless. Then you have to pay month to month so you aren't wasting money.

I have 80 mb down and 20 mb upload speeds and I honestly think remote playing via the portal is terrible and streaming with it is absolute dogshite👍
My kid brother is using my ps5 and I am not getting access to stream alongside…. It does not work when using the console

Yea mirroring is basically 2 ps5s running on your network in a sense. Cloud is the way to go

Fair warning: you DO need ps plus premium (I’m pretty sure), which gives you the ability to also play games on the ps5 with cloud streaming.

Yeah will be your WiFi network, as a stable connection is needed for it to work well

It runs better than remote play. It's pretty close to cloud gaming on the console. Micro stutters are gone too.

Very stupid the point is to be portable but you gotta pay to rent games an you still need a stable wifi connection to play cloud games? Even if it's 250 might as well spend more on a real hand held then get those games an you can play it anywhere. Unless you are at an airport or sitting in a cafe with Internet it's pretty useless. Then you have to pay month to month so you aren't wasting money.
