  • Over the years, the Sun Valley Lodge has gone through several rounds of renovations.
    The last one starting in 2014.
    It may have taken them just 8 months to build it from scratch, but it took nearly 10 months for crews to revamp and revive the nearly 80-year-old building before the lodge reopened to the public in June of 2015.

    Surrounded on all sides by the Wasatch mountains, shielded from ferocious winter winds, Ketchum, Idaho received more snow than any other place on the Union Pacific line. Thus the impetus to build a resort was born by UP CEO Averell Harriman and the Count Felix Schaffgosch.
