I was diagnosed with spinal stenosis about 5 years ago and I was told that if I didn’t have the surgery, I wouldn’t be able to walk in 5 years. It’s been 5 years now and I still can walk. However, now it seems I have more pain on my left leg - the very tight hamstring, calves, ankle, side of my foot and my 3 toes are numb. I have good and bad days. I have been doing therapy and all the exercises you demonstrated I have been doing. I like them all! It really helps! All I want is for the pain and numbness disappear. I’m still hopeful I’d get better and will not need surgery. Thank you.
Hi Laura. I'm pleased my exercises have been beneficial for you and good on you for not being pressured into surgery if it wasn't necessary. I've never been a fan of fear mongering, instead, simply do a thorough examination and explain ALL of the options to the patient. In your case, I would recommend that you go for another examination from a qualified health professional. Over your 5 years, it is possible that you have developed different conditions that may in fact be treatable - never assume that it's always the same thing. Keep up the good work.
Hi Cindy. Watch for one of my videos where I talk about Lou. 7 years of back pain where he was taking 6 Gabapentin and 9 Tylenol every day. Now he takes zero pills.
You have described my situation perfectly. I was diagnosed in 2019 when I had an episode. I made a pretty good recovery but the doc said I would be back in 4-5 years and like clockwork I'm worse now. Good luck to you. I have exactly the same symptoms as you. I just turned 69. Take care.
I am 76 diagnosed with spinal stenosis 10 years ago. Visited my chiropractor weekly for 8 months and surgeon took X-rays and said I had no bulging discs and my back was stable and actually recommended against surgery with the low level of discomfort I had. I agreed and have been doing exercises since. Thank you for adding some I need to do as I have gotten lazy and more sedentary.
So many excercises on you tube for spinal stenosis. These were so easy to remember and I actually felt my back pop several times. All were very beneficial for me
Hi cindym. You're absolutely right - there are so many online exercises to sort through and they're often not appropriate for everyone. That's why I carefully selected these to be beneficial, safe, and easy to remember. I'm pleased they're helping you.
Thanks any more exercises I can do I’m a beginner a terrible crooked pack scoliosis, degenerate disease, arthritis spurs. The doctor says I have the back of 100-year-old man and I’m only in my 70s. Thanks.
All of your advice I agree as I have been doing these exercises and they definitely work to relieve symtums of stenosis. Many thanks and will look in on you video regularly. Irene
I was just fine one day, the next I woke up with terrible pain on my left hip down the leg. I thought it was sciatic nerves but it lasted too long, to this day, over 3 months, MRI says Stenosis, tomorrow Dr will discuss topic/ remedy. I don't want surgery. My bone density test shows left hip bad condition, but ortho dr says they don't go by that (?)
I'm so sorry to hear about your suffering. What people often think came out of the blue had actually been developing for years. Is the stenosis foraminal or central canal? Please watch my video to learn the difference. There are many alternatives to surgery (and you're right - surgery does have significant adverse risks). Please watch my videos specific to both stenosis and Non-Surgical Robotic Laser Spinal Decompression. Hope this helps.
Hi Gail. Thanks for the question. While spinal stenosis most often affects standing and walking, it could also be a factor in sitting. This is one of the main themes in all of my videos - not everyone is the same and all stenosis is not necessarily the same. If one is getting saddle pain it is extremely important to rule out cauda equina syndrome. Lastly, most people are suffering from more than one underlying cause. Please see a qualified health professional.
@@DrJohnZielonka thanks for your response. I have cauda equina ruled out so thank god it's not that. I've been like this 2yrs and getting worse I've had professional intervention but noting works. I've had nerve blocks which messed me up alot together. I've had infusions lidocaine and ketamine no effect at all, I'm on Lyrica yrs and was put venaflaxnie but noting works. I've been to physio but the exercises giving made me worse. Stretching in that area my saddle regoin makes it worse, touch on my glute sets of nerves pain that lasts days or weeks. So I can't lie flat on back either
I'm mostly troubled by the numbness. If I stand for too long, I will get nerve pain in my leg but that eases up with rest. But the numbness really freaks me out. I went to a chiropractor for adjustments and have only been once so far. What types of adjustments (generally speaking) can be helpful for lumbar stenosis? I have osteoarthritis and some disc degeneration. Also, what do you think about accupuncture for this condition? Thanks.
Hi Elizabeth. Thanks for the question. I am a fan of acupuncture but for what you're describing, a good chiropractor is your best bet. Obviously it took a significant amount of time for your conditions to develop so it will certainly require more than one visit. As for specific types of adjustments, this can only be determined after a thorough exam.
@@DrJohnZielonka Btw,my numbness n tightness has been on for six weeks. I have been doing physio ie traction and heat treatment. Just worrying that my next coming appointment with the Doctor and he would mention that l might need six screws ie fusions l think. Should l carry on with medication and physio. And not do MRI second time which I think the Doctor might suggest , furthermore I don’t suffer any pains on my back or legs.
Permanently in pain, like a knife twisting in my lower back below shoulder blade, been 😅in pain 5yrs,can only take Paracetamol as on Bp tabl, fri😅ghten to have spinal injections 😅
We're so sorry to hear of your pain. Consider seeking out someone who utilizes Non-Surgical Robotic Laser Spinal Decompression. Also consider a good neuro-functional chiropractor for the knife-like shoulder blade pain. This could very well be a significant rib subluxation that is often missed. (Hard to take a deep breath in? Referring heart-attack like pain?)

Comment guérir d’une tendinite calcifiante du moyen fessier?
Les ondes de choc sont elles efficaces? ❤
Shockwave can be effective. I would also consider Active Release Techniques.
4 and 5 for me
Excellent.
Would lumbar spinal stenosis be a reason for not being able to sit? Can it cause pelvic saddle regoin nerve pain and also in left glute

Excellent presentation but the sound quality is poor, sound is turned up and still hard to make out
Hi Barb. We're sorry about that - not sure why - we use a wireless mic for exactly that reason.
Exercises three ie flossing the nerves is best for my cast of numbness n tightness of my left leg .
A favourite of mine as well.
