It looks awsome!
Thank you! I agree 😁
loving the colour mate well done. That projector box looks sick!
Appreciate the nice comments! Thank you! 🍻
Just subbed. Loving the progress.
Thank you!
looking good. Thought you were going to go all spray when I started the video LOL
I almost considered that route actually - but too much overspray that I didn't want to deal with at this time.
Loved the video, just checking how the Cyberspace matt paint is holding up after 2 years?
Thank you! The paint is holding up great! We have no complaints with it and we get compliments on it all the time when people see it for the first time. There are some scuffs here and there but that's just from kids playing (think - nerf guns. lol) I'll probably touch up some areas eventually but it's really not bad so don't let it shy you away from going with this amazing color.
That’s awesome. How many gallons did it take to cover that ceiling?
I had 2 gallons but I know I didn't use all of it. Think it was around 1.5 gallons.
My HTD speaker grills had some sort of fabric on the back side of them to hide the woofer and tweeter. Did you take that off before painting them? If you don’t, the paint could saturate that fabric and when it dries it will be a solid cover. I tossed the fabric, it’s just cosmetic and personal preference. I personally like seeing the shadow of the speaker behind it and you only see it when looking directly at the speaker. Once the movie or game is on, you definitely don’t notice it. That goes for the white trim as well. We have a lighter gray crown molding above and the trim below and as soon as the movie starts, your focused on the screen and everything else disappears. It’s looking great. I bet you can’t wait to get it finished. No pressure but the season opener is Saturday. GBR!
Yes I was thinking the exact same thing so I removed that same piece of clothlike material that was on the backside of the grills before painting. I didn't want anything blocking the sound whatsoever! I'm glad to hear the white trim disappears - that's what I was hoping will happen being it is so low to the ground in my case (no crown molding in my setup). I wish I had this all done for the season opener this Saturday! That'd be great! GBR!
Ty, Good video...i am building a Home theater, going to use the same colors thanks a lot for sharing the video and details...did you used the same "Peppercorn color" for Door as well, sorry one more question how many subs did you installed
The Peppercorn color is a color I considered using - but just to be clear, the Peppercorn color is not in my theater anywhere. I used black for the ceiling and the other dark color is Cyberspace. The doors are stained wood doors, they are a dark chocolate brown color. Still need to stain the basement doors. Thanks for the comments!
Ty you could not have picked better paint colors. Great work. What color on the baseboards (and please tell me they will be dark)?
For now all the trim and baseboards have been painted white. Going to see how it all looks, but I have thought about painting them dark inside of the theater area - but the problem being there isn't a good spot to transition from the white and dark, so they might have to stay white. We'll see how it all works as it continues to come together. Thanks for the thought!
I like the blue undertones of Cyberspace. How does Cyberspace look in artificial lighting at night? Does it show any blue tones at all? I’m planning on going with Cyberspace but concerned that it’ll be a bit too black at night.
I love the color also and am very happy with it. At night or in the dark it really doesn't reflect light at all, it is very dark. I'd say it's hard to see any type of blue tones when it's dark, but I also haven't really looked for them in the dark either. Probably doesn't answer your question very well - sorry!
How did you pick your paint colors? Tied into your carpet color or seating or something else?
It wasn't easy that's for sure! Lots of research - and google search for home theater paint colors. It seems that the Cyberspace color is pretty popular, along with another that is called Peppercorn which is like a grayish color. We have neutral colors throughout the rest of the home and it's just the front, rear, and ceiling so it's wasn't a huge area to be painted dark. We thought about painting the whole basement in Cyberspace but I worried it would be too dark in the bar area, and like the fact that this further separates the 'theater' area from the rest of the open-concept basement. Sounds confusing but I hope this helps!
Do you have to walk thru the theater to get to the other rooms ?
You would if you want to get to the two bedrooms or into the unfinished area on that end of the basement. The bar area is before you walk through.
@@TyEichele my basement is similar and was thinking of doing the same concept as you did . I have some really good audio equipment that I want to use but afraid that people will walk into it being that the display would be on the stair wall like yours and people have to walk in front to get to the Rooms
@@alvidrez7956 Gotcha. Yeah that's a tough choice but in my case that's why I didn't want subwoofers on the floors for example taking up space. So my solution was putting them behind the screen. Just have to decide what's going to work best for you and how often they might actually be walking in front maybe? Good luck with your decision!
Nice! What down lights did you use on your HT?
They are 4" wifi can lights. Lumary is the brand name. Link is in the description to them on Amazon. Thanks for watching!
what made you go with Cyberspace color on the walls?
I really like the hint of blue in it vs. all gray. It looks really good with my other paint colors also.
How has the Cyberspace been after a while? Too blue at times? Any blue being cast on your image affecting it?
Still absolutely love it! No regrets at all - get a lot of comments on it when people see it for the first time as well. No blue shades cast either. The screen really disappears in the dark when watching....so much that I plan to do some masking panels soon to get the best contrast.
@@TyEichele Thanks. I went with it for my walls. Looks great. For spray painting your light trim and vent covers, how much overspray did the can produce? And did the can you used end up more satin or more flat when finished?
@@flyers10az You do have to be careful of overspray. But if you lay out enough plastic, and do it on a calm day so the wind doesn't blow it, it's totally manageable. Just remember light, quick, multiple coats to get to full coverage. You can get spray paint in either flat/satin/gloss so just depends on what you want. If I remember correctly I used a satin or maybe even flat, as I didn't want any glossy reflections against the ceiling since it is a flat sheen also. Glad you like the paint color on your walls!
