    I *highly* recommend trying these all again with foam ear tips. The listening experience changes remarkably, as the better sealing brings completely different tonal qualities to them. And the foam keeps them in place much better.

    Update.
    My friend tried the ZS10 and AS10. He was floored with the midrange performance of both. With the ZS the highs weren't as elevated as the AS. The boosted bass on both was a bit too much for him.
    He also could hear the difference with and without a proper amp. With an amp the music sounds fuller.
    Edit. Feb28
    OK now I know why my friend got goosebumps. The midrange has a warmth which sounds very very good with vocals. The KZ ZS and AS10 sound very good with Adele and Lana Del Rey or male vocals like Allan Taylor.

    First impressions.
    AS10 and ZS10 sound really great. With Oehlbach Usb Bridge (dac) and Ifi Iematch they sound even better. I bought Comply tips, because the standard tips won't stay in my ears.
    Because the lows, mids & highs have there own drivers, one doesn't bleed into the other. Everything is well defined. They still don't have the resolution of my highend headphones.
    The AS10 bass is fast and not to elevated. The ZS10 bass is boosted and a bit boomy/not precise. Both sound V-shaped as mentioned. And as mentioned in the review the ZS10 has a wider stereo image than the AS10, which results in a better separation of instruments. The AS10 is more sensitive/efficient than the ZS10.
    I enjoy them both.

    I use the zs5 with my note8 and tidal. At first it was shrill and pearcing. After a month the sound became insanly good! They have some flows but some vocals sound insanly holographic with the zs5. With some tracks the sound is outrageously good and the soundstage is amaizing!
    Still sometimes there are flaws like compression specially on the very high freq. , "small" instruments and bad tonality. Still usually it sounds good or crazy good.
    Its not worm or soft sound. Its bright.

    I bought the ZS-10, before I realized there was a model above. I've been into audio for 50 years and have owned some pretty great gear. I think they sound pretty damn good. Plenty of bass and I don't notice a tipped up high. The mids maybe a bit scooped, but that is not a bad thing IMO. I ran a frequency test tone sweep and I could hear down to 25hz, so they don't lack bass response. Are they a Westone clone for a 10th price? No but they kill my $150 pro Shure in-ears. For me they fit great. As primary use is for in-ear monitors for live music, I like the over the ear wire thing. Allows the cable to go down the back into the monitor receiver. I do prefer the robust single pin connector on the Shure vs the fragile 2 pin connector on these. Since they are so cheap, I'm gonna get the AS10 and see if even better. In general, I'd say KZ knocked it out out the park. These crush typical consumer in ears.

      the included eartips on the ZS10s is shyte. I had to use my broken JBL earphones eartips just to be able to get a good fit in my ear and have a good bass. His review is on point that the eartips are not secure and could possibly be lost because it lacks the ridges, now my problem is how on earth I would make my JBL eartips locked firmly with the earphones since everytime I remove it from my ear, the eartips is left on my ear. My JBL earphones has this ridges that makes the eartips secure in place and lock em with the earphones, the ZS10s for one doesn't have that. Ugggh. It sounds good so long as its firmly in the ear.The included eartips and even the spares are shyte. I am now looking for my other JBL eartips as im pretty sure I'd be losing my current JBL eartips on this IEM.

      @@surprisedpotato if the AS10/ZS10 are intended to be IEM's, there are many things wrong with it. Here's a list:
      -They have way too much upper bass (100-400Hz), but then somehow lack response at 1kHz by a lot
      -There's a weird boost at 3-5 kHz, exceeding the target response completely
      -Treble response is extremely grainy with many peaks in the highs (especially at 5, 7 and 12 kHz)
      -The drivers are not in phase; This may be expectable, but can easily be fixed from KZ's side
      Rtings has provided some frequency response measurements of both these Chi-Fi headphones, it is worth to be looked up.
      All in all, both the AS10 and ZS10 sound unpleasant, grainy, boomy, unnatural and dry when compared to a real monitors, like the in ear Etymotic ER4's or and over ear HD600s with the Sonarworks profile.
      What gets me the most is, that the 10$ Sony MH-1 from almost 10 years ago have a much better sound than this. It has much more sparkle, not as boomy, and almost no grainy response at all. Of course they are not perfect either, but completely blow away all this KZ crap.

    I like the stiff wire because it damps out noise from wire handling, or at least it can. Give the SpinFit ear tips a try. When removing the IEM, leave the music playing so you can tell when you have broken the seal. Push the IEM up, down, front or back until you loose the bass. Then you can pull them out with minimal risk of leaving the tips in your ear. Keep up the good work. I love my ZSR's IEM's, but skip the early Bluetooth cables (those without APTX). They have poor range, poor runtime, dropout issues where other such modules play just fine and just do not have the quality of KZ's IEM's.

    About the hooks: When you say you dont need the to secure the fit, you very obviously are not a frequent runner. When you run a couple of miles, you will have to press them in over and over again because they will come out through the constant sudden pulls on the cable. It also could pull out the connector over time. When your ears get hot and sweaty and waxy, its even easier for the to slip out because of reduced friction. So the hooks are very very helpful. Plus you can just cut that plastic open and pull it of the cable if you really dont need them. But i would rather have the choice.

    • @SuperReview
      @SuperReview  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure what I said in this video, but I definitely prefer having hooks, I just don't like having to mold the metal hooks -- I prefer the hooks to be pre-formed.

    The balanced armature drivers generally cover a smaller range of the spectrum (so having a few helps cover the spectrum), and do not actually "move air" like a typical speaker. The dynamic driver will perform better in combination with all these balanced armature drivers because the one dynamic driver can focus on being a subwoofer. In theory, you will have less distortion because the dynamic driver can focus on what it does well.

    Awesome! I’ve had 4 different pairs of KZs but the Zs10 was the highest I had. And they would NOT stay in my ears. Kept falling out and was impossible to have a good seal. Even with good foam tips. The As10 sounds exciting but I’ve been hesitant because of the fitment of the Zs10s since they both seem large. Do the AS10 really fit that much better? Have you tried foam tips since then?

      The ZSAs are the smallest KZs I have. BUT the stems on the ZSAs seem about the same size as the stems on other KZs -- the stem is the part that fits into your ear canal. If you're looking for a headphone with a really narrow stem, you might look at the Final E2000 or the NuForce EDC3.

    As10 ...Not worth double the money of KZ10. Artificially Sibilant. Small soundstage. A little boring. They work, but have the same old KZ sound signature. Kshhhhh kshhhhh Hand clap in the mix sounds like the glass shattering. They do reveal some nuances in the mix, but:
    Dry. Vocal in your face. Obnoxious percussion. Sibilance.
    Good for singers on stage who need to quit bad habits, sing less sibilant, and drummers who need to stop bashing their cymbals :)))

      Interesting, to my ears the ZSA is the most sibilant of these three, followed by the ZS10 -- the AS10 I had no issues with sibilance. But it's interesting how differently people hear, thanks for the report 👍 Have you heard the TRN V80?

    • @mpelevic
      @mpelevic 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SuperReview I haven't had a chance to try TRN 80. I think I'm done with Chi-fi for some time. Thank you for replying me. When I speak of sibilance, I am not always refering only to dB boost in that area, but the lack of resolution and articulation between 6-7 khz. That seems to be inherent problem of all KZ, but they try to solve it with dampening etc. It is science in phase correlation between drivers and crossover and much much more. They need to invest more in RD department. I wouldn't' simplify that to the level of just hearing different. That would be the ultimate excuse for selling junk, and if you dont like it, well... you hear different ;) Some things are measurable and facts, and there are reference speakers and phones who we all perceive as neutral, they just cost more money.
      To sum it all up: I use KZ, and I like the fact that they exist, but we have to stop praising them for what they are not. They work for the money spent. But, I would gladly spend 100$ on better tuned ones, then 30$ on not so tuned, because 1964, shure846 etc cost 1000+ So even 100$ KZ would be a bargain. I am rooting for them! They don't need to be dirt cheap.

    • @mpelevic
      @mpelevic 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@alexstrakovsky1872 I appreciate your comment, but they are not defective. I just have high end equipment to compare them with, and a lot ear training. All KZ earbuds are worth for what they cost, but they are not worth more then that. That I admit.
      It might seem that I'm negative, but I'm trying to be constructive and to send them the message to step it up just a little more, so everyone could use them for professional uses, and save a lot of money. A-B test them with serious equipment and you will see for your self. They are sybilant, and they do compress. Less then other KZ's, but more then top players in the game. They don't need to be. Just solve that problem, and I'm willing to pay 100 bucks for the next pair. Better then buying another 1000$ ones. For now, I can't stand to wear them 8 hours on a stage. Looking forward for the next model! :)

    • @alexstrakovsky1872
      @alexstrakovsky1872 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mpelevic I agree only to extent that all KZ are sibilant in some degree with bright sources and also AS10 needed substantial burn in to reduce harshness that most of them have out of the box. I thought of using them for gym before I found iBasso it01 which are so much more fun. My favorite source is Hiby R6 which is laid back smooth least sibilant source I could find as I am also trebble sensitive and hate sibilance. I gave up on KZ. They just released another sibilant beast ZSN. I only buy them out of curiosity and then pass to relatives and coworkers. My current gear is shure se 846, iBasso it04, Sony Z5, A3, so i'm all in the earphones for decades starting with etimotics. Well, good luck changing KZ. They compete on price. U should have tried zs5 too,I have zs5 and zs10 and though some people disagree zs 5 sounds much better than zs10.its my opinion and I don't know why but I can't keep zs10 in my ear long enough.its not just the design but sound feels a lot harsh to me esp upper mids.

      Yeah there's a lot of KZs out there. How would you describe the difference between ZS5 and ZS10?

    • @VVelikan
      @VVelikan 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just tested them. zs10 sounds definitely better than zs5 (which rattles on high frequency and has less bass).
      PS: thanks for review.

      Super* Review Hmmm I think the fact that it's a 19 mins video.. with constant talking and almost 70% of em are just "fillers" (not as informative for the product review), I get that you need to stretch a video to make something out of it but I suggest staying around 10 to 12 mins. but it's up to you. Good quality video tho

    Is this kz as10 ear-phone high resolution ear-phone? I would like to buy it combine with sony walkman a55 mp3 player. Is this a good combination?

    • @SuperReview
      @SuperReview  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's not certified high resolution, if that's what you're asking. In 2020, I would recommend Blon Bl-03 over the AS10.

  • @NiohNiohYT
    @NiohNiohYT 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    You said you have slight hiss with Walkman... Walkman and Sony products in general are within the worst I have ever heard in my life, so I don't find that surprising! Even 250$ FiiO X3 mk1 sounded *miles* better than Sonys 1200$ ZX2 that produces insane hiss and even had distortions on high volume. For things to be even worse that was the case with Sonys own EX700lp (basically EX1000 without replaceable cables, worse packaging and half the price).

    • @SuperReview
      @SuperReview  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's very slight and only audible with certain sets. Can only hear it when no audio is playing. My other players don't do it, but it doesn't bother me much.

    • @NiohNiohYT
      @NiohNiohYT 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SuperReview Anything of very high sensitivity, which is not that rare in higher end iems (both my iems Sony EX700 and current Sennheiser IE80 @ 125dB SPL) and you can hear constant hiss, even with their 3000$ Walkman. For ZX2 that is ~1000$ there are also slight distortions on high volumes next to that hiss, which is unacceptable, as the only reason someone would pay that much for a player is sound itself. Sony uses some proprietary really bad quality amp, not regular TI amps for example, and some proprietary DAC so they cut costs of getting good ones from WM or Asahi Kasei (like latest FiiO players, and Astell&Kerns) for example. They just bumped prices to cosmic levels so clueless audiophile-wannabes (not saying by any means it's you I speak in general!) think it's good cos it's gold plated copper housing and costs a lot. The more they pay the better they "hear" sound from it.
      Sony is *really* bad sounding comparing to multiple times cheaper competition (FiiO for example), and incomparably worse to same priced competition (like AKs, HiFiMan).
      Anyways, that aside, nice review! Subbed!

    using the AS10 as a guitar player and love them. However, is there a way to improve the memory part of the cable? Maybe a replacement cable? To me they aren't rigid enough, the lose their "memory" too easily and don't stay where they should

    • @SuperReview
      @SuperReview  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, it's annoying that the memory gets undone all the time. I got this cable: www.aliexpress.com/item/New-Yinyoo-H3-H5-8-Core-Upgraded-Silver-Plated-Earphone-Cable-With-MMCX-2pin-For-Yinyoo/32849066071.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.32d84c4dcFvu8a

    Hey guys how do the AS10s compare to the Shure se215 or se315? I’m trying to decide between Shure or KZ. I’m a vocalist btw.)))))

    • @HR2635
      @HR2635 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      first saw this today.. so it might be too late.. but.. AS10s are way more sibilant than the shure.. but also have way better and solid bass response.. as a vocalist i would recommend the Shure.. just take the SE215.. the 315 are not worth the extra money.. the fit of the AS/ZS 10 i also not good in most ears.. if youre a drummer: get the cheap ZS3 !.. get em while you can.. I use these almost in every studio session.. And I have expensive Shures also.. but the ZS3 are just more fun .. and the bass (low toms and kick) is just way easier to hear.
