This was a very helpful video, super informative. I have the Shure 215’s and agree with you. They are somewhat bright and lacking in the bass department. But they are 10 years old and very comfortable. However, based on your presentation, it may be time for a change. Thank you!
Switched from 215's to KZ AS10's today, and wow! They sound significantly better. Personally I don't agree that 215's are comfortable and an easy fit... I've been struggling to keep them in my ears for years now, constantly having to push them back in to get a seal and hear the low end, no matter which tips I use. I’m assuming you probably tried a few of the different size/material tips with the 215s? I am fortunate that I’ve never had an issue with the 215s (or 315s); I found the foam tips to be the best for getting rid of stage noise and are incredibly comfortable, I’ve worn them for literally hours on end with no issues. I did a huge gig (like 30,000 people) that was about 2 hours long. They stayed put despite my head banging, stage noise was a minimum (guitar cabs maxed out around me, I was playing my drums as hard and loud as I could), and I heard everything I needed to at a comfortable volume level. I’m glad the AS10s are working out for you though! I think my next step is custom molded stuff, I just don’t want to drop the coin for it lol

As someone new to the audio scene, my KZ ZSN Pro X already sound superb, like as far as audio gear that i've tried, it's the best. Im looking to upgrade to the ZS10 pro soon. I can't imagine how much better it'd sound
I'm listening to this with my KZ ZS10 Pro's that I've had for about a year now and damn these things can take serious abuse. I use them for everything, travelling, doing work around the yard, you name it. Never gave me trouble and they sound solid. I'm thinking about upgrading though and the Whizzer HE01 look like a wicked pair. I'd be dope to see you review them.
can i sleep with it? wire or a plugs wont break? are realy these kz good for casual music listener who want quality audio. i mean looks like sz10 pro for 30 money sounds better than big brands 100 money offerings O_o how is that possible...
@@racistpixel1017 The wires and plugs are in just as good a condition as when I bought them aside from a bit of corrosion around the connections which are relatively easy to clean but it shows through the translucent material to an extent. Sleeping with them depends on the size and depth of your ears. I personally don't sleep with earphones so I can only theorize that they may be fine to sleep with since they're not super bulky and are quite comfortable for extended periods of time.
Thank you for this video. I grabbed the T2G in ear monitors for my video editing. I got them and they sound great. Thanks again for the individual reviews.
I grabbed a couple of the ZS10 pros for me and my girlfriend in black and blue to use for casual listening instead of the typical stock ear buds that come with Samsung phones. I must say that we both love them for the fit and sound considering the price and compared to the galaxy buds. I think I'll be happy to try some foam tips for both of us to try for added comfort and maybe some nicer looking and feeling cables in the future.
galaxy buds, apple pods and all that that might or might not come with a phone or anything from apple is considered worst from the worst, so realy anything you would buy from big brands for same price would sound considerably better.
@@racistpixel1017 yeah your right comparing them to trash is going to be a obvious outcome haha. I have a pair of hifiman sundara at my destop and find that even though they have very different sound profile, the overall sound quality you can get with a iem for a relatively low amount of money compared to headphones is impressive. I'm just excited to have been so blown away by my first entry level item in the iem world, so many affordable goodness out there to try.

I was thinking about buying the KZ-AS12 till i seen your video. So the next ones I may want are the KZ-ZS10 Pro X. I do have the KZ-AS10..love them and the SE215. Being a drummer..2 words.. "Foam Tips"
These are really F#%*IN’ GOOD! My setup for these are: IEM: BLON BL-03. Custom Cable: Acid Purple Hart Audio PC-3: Dual Angled 2-pin (QDC) Balanced IEM Cable w/ a female 4-pin mini XLR and a male 4-pin mini XLR to a 90 degree 3.5mm TRS interconnect line. Custom Ear Tip: Midnight Purple Eartune Fidelity Custom IEM Ear Tip Altogether for me is the ultimate band for your buck in an IEM!
I did a similar test of budget (>100 $) IEMs when my church switched to in ear monitoring. I wanted to be able to give recommendations to our volunteers and actually set up a little test fitting and listening night. Models that I’ve tested are: KZ ZST KZ ZS10 MEE M6 Pro Tin T2 Tin T2 Plus SE215 BASN Bsinger BASN Bmaster IE 40 Pro (now IE 100 Pro) Honestly, I’m baffled by some of the positive ratings you’re giving. Here’s why: I let our volunteers try the IEMs out without giving them my opinions or telling them the prices. The consensus after about 30 minutes was: Sonically, the KZ ZST and M6 Pro are utter trash. STAY AWAY FROM THEM. And I’ve tried multiple specimens of the ZSTs. Their sound signature is borderline useless because it’s an absurd V-shape. The M6 Pros have a pretty wonky frequency response and sound pretty harsh. No one liked either of these. The ZS10 suffer from the same problem as many IEMs in this price range: ...you know, not bad, but... there’s just something off about them. Sibilant sounding, and a frequency response that’s just weird enough for me to not love them. Interestingly none of our volunteers liked the SE215 either. I think their days are over (and they should be). The only ones that stood out as genuinely good sounding (both in terms of balance and clarity) were the T2 Plus (VERY impressive, even compared to my 64 Audio A3e they’re decent), the BASN Bmaster (not perfect, and on the "warmer" side, but still clear sounding and a sure way of getting a balanced, clear sound), and the IE 40 Pro - which have a pretty silly 10k emphasis to be fair, but other than that they sound pleasant and neutral enough. Plus, they are really small which is a must for a lot of women. Their only downside is that their silicone tipy don’t isolate well and they only come with medium-sized foam tips.
Do you have any recommendations for distorted rock guitar players? My experience with in ears has been pretty awful. I played with some KZs and that was the thinnest and brightest guitar tone I have ever played. I just wanted the day to end after putting them on
@@EthanRom Oh man, I feel ya. Honestly I don’t believe in IEMs for specific use cases, but I play electric guitar with a variety of tones, so I can recommend the BASN Bmaster. If you would like something with a little more treble (kinda hifi-sounding, but in a good way) check out the Tin T2 Plus (not T2 Pro). They’re AMAZING for the money, and in my opinion amazing period. Kinda made me question whether it’s necessary to spend more than $100 on IEMs. My 64 Audio A3e are definitely better, but nowhere near 13 times as good.
I bought the KZ ZS10 Pros about 6 months ago. Something to consider for those of us with small ears, is the actual size of ear-buds. I can't use these, at all. They will not stay in my ears. They do sound good, but only briefly because they start slipping out. The SE215s that came with my unit stay in better. Not great, but better. Someday, I REALLY should try a molded set, but they aren't free.
INCREDIBLE review! The only ones I ever got to use were the se215's a long time ago and as a drummer the lack of bass kinda turned me off to them but as they were the only pair I'd used, I didn't know what any other ones would sound like. Having a review that compares those to other really helped me. Will prolly go with the T2G's or maybe the zs10 pros if not.
@@gladysbaptiste3028 I'll be honest, I ran into a period where I need to be kinda careful with my money so I haven't had a chance yet. I've decided on the ZS10 Pro's when able though.
I think it is very important to consider what you are going to use the in-ears for. I bought the KZ ZS10 PRO based on David's review, but sent it back a day later. I mainly use the earphones as a musician and I experience the bass as way too loud with too much sound pressure to play comfortably. With my Shure SE535 in-ears (of which 1 earpiece is now broken) I could play keys or bass guitar for hours without any problems with my ears or an unpleasant feeling. So the KZ ZS10 PRO indeed have a sublime sound, but for live performance it is all a bit too much
My shure se535 also broke the R side!!! the L side is failing all the time. Considering the ZS10 pro, i play 7 strings guitars and low tunes, so maybe i need volume and definition on the bass.
Always love your reviews, David. Thanks for your hard work and commitment to your craft. Just curious, what happened the to KZ ZS5’s? We got some based on the first video, and have been very happy with them.
You gotta respect KZ for putting out the ZS10 pro, 10 drivers for less than 50$? That's straight bonkers man, for audio an audio layman like me, it might as well be my endgame
The range of pricing and models are crazy! I have tried most of the premium models from UE to Bose and my go to are the KZ ZS10 Pro. When I was first introduced to them, I thought the guys was playing a joke with me. I tried them one day while doing sessions and was blown away. Even in my Drum Covers, I'll have the KZ ZS10 Pro models in. Nearly prefection! Nice review.
my zs10 pro life came to an end, the steel mesh came out of one of the earphones and eventually the entire steel frame tip from the plastic body breaking the wire. after several years of usage i came to the conclusion that they're not sturdy enough as with many iems & it had too bright treble of a profile to enjoy bass songs with. the volume was insanely high so never even went above 30% volume in regular use otherwise would damage my hearing in the long run. I've switched back to headphones. went with a sennheiser hd560s this time.
You should have put foam tips on all of them, that way you are judging the actual IEM, vs many different tips that might or might not fit that well thus giving extremely different sound profiles. Something to consider in the future to rule out one factor that likely has a very large influence.
You'd get the same result using one pair of rubber/silicone tips for them all except they isolate sound better so will result in a more narrow, bass heavy sound.
@@Owen-np3wf That would be another way to do it as well just to make one less variable, but are you saying the silicone tips block out more sound or the foam ones? I’ve been feeling like the foam ones block out more but I’m interested in your take. Thanks for the reply!
@@johnnyh64 the silicone tips dont allow sound to pass through them like foam does as long as they fit your ear canal properly so they can can enhance the bass a little and make the sound feel a little more closed. Its just because it not a porous, soft material. Everyone has different ears though so I think foam might be better overall to get a fit 👍
Pro drummer here: I own a lot of them. ZSN Pro X are my go-to studio tracking set for drums. Absolutely not lacking bass for my taste. Treble CAN be sibilant on some sources. ZS10 pro is fine, but to me not better for monitoring.´CCA10 is also fine, to me they are WAY more laid back than ZS10pro!, more neutral and more "boring" so better for mixing sessions. A set than many overlook are the super cheap KZ EDX that outperform ZST by miles. And they are actually good for mixing as well! Narrow imaging yes, but they are pretty neutral for a KZ and they have nice midrange. Together with my much more expensive Sonys i use them for mixing, if stuff sounds good there it will sound good on low level gear like phones and small radios and bad car stereos :-)
@@NaturalTherapyist there is no "perfect" as that is always subjective, but my first recommendation would be KZ ZS10 Pro, and for some ZSN Pro X.. they are cheap.. try them.
Thank you so much for the detailed review. Saves me the headache of deciding on all these options, debating between KZ ZS10 and TFZ... unless I should just drop the cash for moondrop starfield?
Recently switched to iem’s for gaming and without watching any reviews on youtube i went with the KZ ZS10 pro and LOVE them! Now all my over priced headsets are collecting dust 😢 Edit* can’t really sell them too because no one likes buying used headsets.
One question, the kz in ear in amazon comes in 2 types with mic and without mic. Their prizes varies a lot, are there any difference in quality? Please explain.
If you are using them as in-ear monitors stay away from the built-in mic cables, they can cause some issues depending on what system you use for monitors.
I picked up the CCA model a few months ago as my first set of in-ears. I don't have the same level of trained ear to be able to comment on the sonic quality, though I have found them generally pleasing. They have a ton more power than my bluetooth powerbeats3 that I use daily for general listening (especially in the low end). I also would agree that I have experience that you demonstrated in the video that the fit is perhaps 95% of what I would like. I am going to pick up some foam tips to give those a try to see if that helps. Thanks for the review!
Great video, but what made you change your mind about the KZ AS16? last year video you liked them. now the real question is wish one will you recommend for a singer? I'm leaning more towards KZ AS16 or KZ AS10, please let me know what you think. thank you.
I got my pair of KZ zst pro and they are amazing, compared to my pair of wireless earbuds they sound wider and punchier and also just fit my ear better since my wireless just hang out of my ears and fall out most of the time so I’m definitely a fan KZ now. They also look awesome with metal plate and the see through base
Thanks for making this video. I used to own a pair of Shure SE215's but lost them a while back and need some new replacements. The SE215's were pretty good but I found they lacked a little detail and depth of bass. Having had a look at your video I'm torn between the KZ ZS10 Pro and TFZ T2. Whichever model I end up going for I would look to upgrade the ear tips and cable. How do these compare to the Shure SE215? Which has the least harsh sound? Thanks
I’ve had a pair of M6 Pros for at least 4 or 5 years now. They’ve been awesome! I always assumed that more drivers = more clarity or general sound quality. Thanks for setting me straight on that. I do love the memory wire on mine too. They finally died as I was trying to clean out gunk and broke one tip ... I play keys, but also lead. So I need good vocals & good keys sound quality. You talked about your favourites being a scooped V EQ. Does that make them less good for vocals? What would you recommend for my context? Thanks tons! Great, thorough video.
I've had the MX2 Pros for a year and a half and wouldn't recommend Mee Audio. After almost a year I noticed the right side volume was much less than the right. They replaced them under warrantee. When I got the new one the left had much lower volume, they replaced that one. After another 6 months the right side is going out again. Their lifetime replacement program now requires that you pay for half the cost, so $50 to pay for headphones that should last longer than 6 months. I will never by Mee audio products again.
Thanks for the great video! I’m wondering what you’d recommend for smaller ears. I’m a guitarist who’s 5’6”, so me ears are on the smaller side, but not to the extreme. This will be my first IEM purchase, so I want to stay under $100 until I know if will permanently get rid of floor monitors. I’ve been considering the Shure SE215, Sennheiser IE 100, KZ ZS10 Pro, CCA C12 and BASN Bmaster, among others. Do you have any thoughts on these, or maybe a different option altogether? I appreciate your work…it’s really well done!
Shure is only good about fit and comfort. Not sound. If you think Zs10 Pro is great, try Hzsound Heart Mirror :) It's way better than Zs10 Pro about tonality and timbre and i think it's a better set than Moondrop Aria or even Fiio FH3 about neutral sound and natural, forward vocals with best clarity / transparency. Treble area doesn't have any competitor! Airy with huge sound stage, pinpoint imaging and layering. Zs10 Pro has issues in tonality because of it's cross-overs that manages the drivers in it. Other than that, yes even the zs10 pro can beat way higher priced known brands these days...
I bought a couple of KZs a while ago. The ES3, ZS6 and ZS3. I like the ZS3 (basic model). Single driver, super smooth. Also in comparison to the Shure SE215...
I have recently jumped into the IEM rabbit hole for music listening on the go. I have the KZ ZS10 Pro and was interested in the ZS AS16 but was not sure of spending $136 for them. Since the CCA sister brand to KZ usually compares pretty close I did find a set of CCA CA16's for $79 and thought with that price I would give those a try. First off I am older with mid 60 year old ears that have been subjected to their share of abuse and decades of rock concert attendance so take that into consideration in my opinion. I also have found I like the Alza SedanaEarFit tips and I switch cables to a 4.4 balanced output to use with a FiiO Q3 amp hooked to a Samsung Galaxy phone as my on the go music source. I also listen mainly to 60's, 70's and 80's classic rock and blues or blues based rock music as well as my main music type. My personal opinion, I like the CCA CA16 sound and although they are not exceptional anywhere they are very pleasing to listen to with a good separated response across all ranges which is exactly what I want for casual on the go music consumption. So this may be one you want to try at a better price point than their sister KZ's AS16 offerings. The CCA offering is an all plastic housing but its smooth edges feel good on the ear fit. Also I am one that likes a sort of "Sennheiser" sound profile and my main listening over the ear headphones for home use is a set of HD700's. Again many think these are to sharp or bright on the treble end and again I do want to mention that I am listening with mid 60 year old ears that have been abused so my opinion is from this vantage point and not much younger ears. I do feel sometimes that when engineers design different sound profiles they do take into consideration the different demographic groups and realize some profiles are designed more for one age group than another where hearing can be sharper or more degraded. I do have one more set on the way, a set of Blon 05s and at that point will limit my decent into the IEM rabbit hole. I refuse to get sucked in any deeper! lol!
Hello, I'm a violinist, and I have the most expensive news kz, And sometimes the violin will go into distortion in the ears, I would love to recommend headphones that fit the violin, and most importantly since I need to hear all the musicians I have on stage, so I also need headphones that can accommodate all the musicians with the stage, and give me a pleasant sound in the ear. And that headphones will not collapse from the load of musicians inside the headset. I would love your recommendation?
I got thoes kz pro x I use them when I'm just playing around with stuff when I'm playing guitar but I've never actually played live so idk how they work on stage but they work great for when you use them on your computer when recording or practicing for me 🤘🏻🤘🏻 downside is I'm in Canada so they were $40 so thoes are pretty much mid range in Canadian dollar
whiich one is really good for back up Leads aside from primary consideration of vocalist i wanted to hear the instruments and the other singer +choir) in a kind of separate/more loose sound from me. Has output the is friendly to my ear drums even though the sound of all instrument and choir combined
I got the KZ ZSTs as my first pair of IEMs, the vocals definitely stand out clear with them. Bass is punchy, mids were a bit lacking for piano music (Walk through the park), treble was definitely on the crispy side, but FUN nonetheless. If given the chance to upgrade, KZ ZSN PRO Xs are the way to go, which I have gladly done. KZ ZSN PRO Xs have much STRONGER bass and much more balanced sound. Bass Mids and Treble were all well represented, but vocals don't stand out as much though with the KZ ZSN Pro Xs
Well, done ! Excellent video. Wondering about your thoughts on a cable upgrade for the KZs. I was looking at the Westone, because it’s the longest; is the Westone cable compatible with the KZ in-ears?
@Sunday Sounds, if you think the TFZ is great check out the BLON BL-03 and BL01... Also, it's fairly widely acknowleged that the AS10 is the best tuned KZ to date, you might find it interesting to compare them to the ZS10 Pros.

@@sktakis Yes I have several KZs, both the dual driver and the 5 driver. For the price (around $23), the KZ ZST Pros are awesome. I would get those before spending more!

I'd be dope to see you review them.
thats true, kz zs10 pro was really built well
can i sleep with it? wire or a plugs wont break? are realy these kz good for casual music listener who want quality audio. i mean looks like sz10 pro for 30 money sounds better than big brands 100 money offerings O_o how is that possible...
You share your earphones with your GF? Lucky one! Where can I find such adorable gf ;)
galaxy buds, apple pods and all that that might or might not come with a phone or anything from apple is considered worst from the worst, so realy anything you would buy from big brands for same price would sound considerably better.

@@racistpixel1017 yeah your right comparing them to trash is going to be a obvious outcome haha. Custom Ear Tip: Midnight Purple Eartune Fidelity Custom IEM Ear Tip
Altogether for me is the ultimate band for your buck in an IEM!
I did a similar test of budget (>100 $) IEMs when my church switched to in ear monitoring. I wanted to be able to give recommendations to our volunteers and actually set up a little test fitting and listening night. Models that I’ve tested are:
KZ ZST
KZ ZS10
MEE M6 Pro
Tin T2
Tin T2 Plus
SE215
BASN Bsinger
BASN Bmaster
IE 40 Pro (now IE 100 Pro)
Honestly, I’m baffled by some of the positive ratings you’re giving. Here’s why:
I let our volunteers try the IEMs out without giving them my opinions or telling them the prices.
C10 bass 17:03
22:46 No bass as12
ZS10 pro 14:06 better than above
M6 pro 8:56 clarity 🎤
got the KZ ZSN pro x as my first in ear monitors and i LOOOVE THEM
I bought the KZ ZS10 Pros about 6 months ago.
Buy foam inserts instead of rubber. Only use foam!
Buy the Moondrop “Chu”. It’s tiny and fits great with the new Moondrop Springtips. It’s also only $20, but it’s got a huge sound for that $20.
ZST has a new model the X. In the $100 range I recommend, Starfield's, Etymotic's, Tin T4 and NF audio NA2
starfield is really good
@@kio-3620 💯
Surprised not to see the Tin T2 or T3, amazing video either way!
Yeah im surprised he didn't have the tin t2's. They are legendary.
would love to see someone test these in an actual live band setting vs listening to mix/mastered songs.
INCREDIBLE review! The only ones I ever got to use were the se215's a long time ago and as a drummer the lack of bass kinda turned me off to them but as they were the only pair I'd used, I didn't know what any other ones would sound like. Having a review that compares those to other really helped me. Will prolly go with the T2G's or maybe the zs10 pros if not.
what did you go with?
True I guess. Had the shure 425 i think it was which for just listening to music was complete GARBAGE considering the price
Thanks David, appreciate solid honest reviews
Thanks for watching!
Always love your reviews, David. Thanks for your hard work and commitment to your craft. Just curious, what happened the to KZ ZS5’s? We got some based on the first video, and have been very happy with them.
KZ ZS5's are a great option as well. Smaller than the zs10 pros and usually sit around $35 on amazon.
Try the CCA 12 is a real upgrade to the kz for 40 dollars, or the Tin T2
@@EduRB99 Sure thing! 👍
Great rundown. Extremely detailed in every aspect and very informative. Helped make my choice more clear. Thank you!
What you think is good for my Bass guitar? will connect the earphones via Scarlett Solo
my zs10 pro life came to an end, the steel mesh came out of one of the earphones and eventually the entire steel frame tip from the plastic body breaking the wire. after several years of usage i came to the conclusion that they're not sturdy enough as with many iems & it had too bright treble of a profile to enjoy bass songs with. the volume was insanely high so never even went above 30% volume in regular use otherwise would damage my hearing in the long run. I've switched back to headphones. went with a sennheiser hd560s this time.
Great video mate, love your style of reviewing!
awesome video. i was just looking for a set to replace my ZST’s for church.
That was the best review of any i have seen . Just the information that I need to deside my earphones 100% class 🎵🎼🎤🎶
A big fan of KZ! You'll be amazed at this brand's IEMs.
Great TH-cam video. I have watched lots of youtube review videos and I would rank yours in the top 5%. Rock on!
So which is perfect for drummer
@@NaturalTherapyist there is no "perfect" as that is always subjective, but my first recommendation would be KZ ZS10 Pro, and for some ZSN Pro X.. they are cheap.. try them.

Thank you so much for the detailed review. Saves me the headache of deciding on all these options, debating between KZ ZS10 and TFZ... unless I should just drop the cash for moondrop starfield?
Thanks so much for this great review!! really helped narrow my search

Recently switched to iem’s for gaming and without watching any reviews on youtube i went with the KZ ZS10 pro and LOVE them! Now all my over priced headsets are collecting dust 😢
Edit* can’t really sell them too because no one likes buying used headsets.
For Bass Players which is better? For stage monitoring with comfortable and best sound...
Should have had the CCA C10 Pro on here. Sounds great.
One question, the kz in ear in amazon comes in 2 types with mic and without mic. Their prizes varies a lot, are there any difference in quality? Please explain.
If you are using them as in-ear monitors stay away from the built-in mic cables, they can cause some issues depending on what system you use for monitors.
Thank you for the reply. I’m planned on using it as in ear monitor, so should stay away from the with mic cables.
@@SundaySounds Hi, do you plan on making an updated version of this? I’m curious
I'm so glad I found your video. Exactly what I'm looking for. Thank you!

Should look at the Moondrop IEMs now that you’ve got a decent wide and broad selection to compare to
I picked up the CCA model a few months ago as my first set of in-ears.
Cca c12? Would you rank it in the top 3?

Was using the Shure SE535's. I used the KZ zs10 pro one time and I literally gave the Shure's away. There was so much more clarity for me.
@@Kenan_Guney Thanks. Yeah I will absolutely check those out.
Yup, shure is overpriced garbage as far as sound goes
I’ve recently bought the Stagg SPM 435 for £50. I’ve never bought an IEM but these sound great
I bought a couple of KZs a while ago.
I refuse to get sucked in any deeper! lol!
can you share some songs of blues based rock, sounds interesting
Superb video 👍👍👍
super detailed and good recommendations for groups of people! love your effort!

QKZ VK4 which is cheap and really great for gaming. You can even get it with a mic cable.
Voice Clarity, Instrument Separation and Soundstage recommendation

@Sunday Sounds, if you think the TFZ is great check out the BLON BL-03 and BL01...
Also, it's fairly widely acknowleged that the AS10 is the best tuned KZ to date, you might find it interesting to compare them to the ZS10 Pros.
We've heard great things about the BLON BL-03 as well. We did cover the KZ AS10 in ears in last years in-ear video, another great universal IEM, slightly bigger than the ZS10 Pros.
@@SundaySounds You won’t regret trying the BLON. Both the 01 and 03 are incredible value for the price.
