It seems to me that the best Iceland can offer is pretty much the world's best. The cd is exceptional. I can't stop listening to it. It's low down dirty blues, it's rock, it's beautiful ballads. They have it all.

It's quite possibly one of the most unique albums I've ever heard. Every song seems to be a totally different style, and they're ALL amazing! How is that possible?! Most bands have a single style, and that's it. These guys are just fucking phenomenal!
I've only been listening to them for a few months, and they've quickly become my favorite band. Their music has gotten me trough some rough and weird times, and I hope that they become better appreciated, because they deserve all of the success in the world.
Not a fan of frozen food, but their pizzas are pretty decent.

Seeing Kaleo live was absolutely riveting. Chilling performance all the way through. Didnt interact with the crowd much, just showed up and fucking DESTROYED their whole set with so much passion and then dipped. Literally was so surreal. Never seen a band show up so damn ready to get down to business and execute at the highest level possible. I really need to see them again. They are one of those bands that is just an unmatched gem in the music industry. Entirely unproblematic, EVERY song is a banger, extremely versatile. A lucky gift in entertainment. Only once in a blue moon does a band as perfect as Kaleo come along.
They just played our town tonight, same exact experience.

Not sure if this is the meaning of the song but from what I gather I would assume it is about a slave who shoots his owner. And the reason they sing “the devils gonna make me a free man” is because “thou shall not kill” however to get his freedom he must kill his owner thus turning his back on gods commandments and toward the devil for his freedom

They had a chain gang song in the background, you'll never hear a song like that, not in this day and age, it is the songs of desperate men bound together in chains laboring unto death in labor camps for unjustified accusations, it is like hearing someone sing about wishing for death, imagine a prison jump wrapped around your waste, a 5 kilo sledge in your hand constantly hammering rocks in the middle of the heat, no water, the guy next you just got pulled off in a stretcher because dehydration and heatstroke for a warden in a camp you'll never leave on trumped up charges. That leaves a massively emotional mark in your music, not just soul but raw desperation, it's genuinely haunting. That's where blues originated from but it doesn't capture the same essence as those men bonded only by the chains around their ankles willing to sing for a devil to release them because the angels aren't listening. Genuine chain gang songs are hard to come by let alone imagine.
