Whisky.com Award Best Single Malt Scotch Whiskies from the last 25 years

I'm in the whisky business for 25 years now. I came upon several outstanding single malt whiskies from Scotland which I present here. They are NOT the best of all but my personally best whiskies. And that is not completely true. There had been whiskies out there which had better than these. But they are long gone now and I do not want to present whiskies from which you do not have the slightest chance to get a sip from.

I recently bought the first whiskys to really get into it seriously, and started with the Lagavulin 16 YO, Balvenie 12 YO and Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban 14 YO, also got a Woodford Double Oaked for something different. Really not regretting any of my decisions at all. Thanks to all of your videos and info online, it helped me a lot.

A few of my personal favorites of hundreds of whiskies I’ve tried:
    Yamazaki 18
    Nikka 17 Pure Malt
    Old Pulteney 21
    Glengoyne 21
    Abelour 18
    Talisker 18
The Japanese ones unfortunately are now too expensive but I am holding a few bottles for a special occasion.

Horst, you and I have very similar taste in whisky. Highland Park 18, Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban, Lagavulin 16, and Balvenie Doublewood have long been favorites of mine. The only one missing is Aberlour A'Bunadh. I'm sure you've tried it, but it's stunning! Happy drinking.

When you're at 19.20m of the video in the medium range ! I have all 5 bottles! The Triple Wood is best no question! There is no bottles left in Canada at the moment I write these lines. A close second is the Highland Park 18. I purchased the last bottle available in the Province of Quebec 10 days ago. If you can access these bottles get them!!! The Bowmore 15 is my Brother's runner up after the Triple Wood. I would have included the Glenfarklas 17 years old amount these bottles. Its within the price range on these excellent products. Look at the Masters review on this wonderful whisky.

An excellent video of fine whiskies, I was glad to see Lagavulin made the list prominently, it is such a unique and peaty 16 year old from Islay. Most of these selections are within a somewhat affordable price range, but they are definitely meant to be saved and treasured for special occasions. I'd include Oban on this list as well, another of the six classic malts of Scotland.

      18yo Allardice?
A well rounded 18 Year Old
This is a truly wonderful sherry whisky, with notes of Cinnamon, Nutmeg, Icing Sugar, Pecans and a hint of lemon on the nose and a huge oily mouthfeel with Orange zest, Dark Chocolate, Red Wine and I have to agree with the thick blueberry note from MoM a rather fantastic whisky especially considering how much you would have to pay for Macallans 18 YO. This, in my opinion, is superior.

My wife and I have visited Scotland and tried almost every region of Single Malt Scotch. Recently, we tried BUNNAHABHAIN (12) which we loved and also BRUICHLADDICH (many varieties). We prefer med/heavy body (mouthfeel) and some smoke. I am not a fan of Ardbeg. Can you make any recommendations for us? Thanks!

I'd agree with the other comment, once opened, it is usually a good idea to finish the bottle within a year or two at most. You Might could pull out some of the oxygen from the bottle like wine, but once opened, the clock is ticking, and it loses more subtle notes and much of the freshness.

@@andykerr581 Thanks, I tried it and it was good as far as I remembered.
Waiting to try a 18 Glenlivet and a 21 Chivas Salute.
I am curious about the difference in quality new vs old.

Laphroaig is peaty beyond belief. It literally tastes like licking the bottom of an ashtray that's never been washed.

Laphroaig ................. new campaign phrase "Once You Get Past the Stink ............. She's a Smooth Buttery Smoke". Okay, the Iodine on the front-end is a challenge. I didn't like it the first 5 minutes. I didn't like it the first 5 minutes with a few drops of water. By 10 minutes she revealed an incredibly smooth ............. buttery smoke. A discrete addiction.
