    This is going to make customizing a lot harder going forward. Nice looking for the aesthetics though.

      Cut one side of the peg and swap out and it should probably be back to normal when it cools down or maybe you could glue the peg back on the arm I guess

      @@KitbashCustoms Bro what? 4 Years later and yes it does. basically gotta destroy the peg inside to get it off.

    I've done a pinless swap before. I cut the pin off towards the inside of the figure. Once you've got your swap done and put back together is the hard part. I eyed up about where the pin was. Ran a 1/32 drill bit into it. Slid a small pin with a drop of super glue into it. A dab of paint on the pin to blend it and it's done.

      that's great, the video is more for people who haven't done it or were curios about it.

    I suspected that they were just making these as how they make the hands, casted on the actual joint.
    That's the same here, they first make the double joint and cast the arm or leg piece on top of it

  • @edwinramirez7777
    @edwinramirez7777 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I'm pretty sure that they used a plastic cement that joins the pegs to the figure by melting the plastic that the plastic cement toches and then it fuses them together. And for the loose joints use Pledge Future floor polish, it will stiffen the joints.

    • @KitbashCustoms
      @KitbashCustoms  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That trick doesn’t really work for disk joints it’s better for ball joints

  • @peterhauss1075
    @peterhauss1075 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Thanks for the peak!! Floor polish is a great method for tightening joints.

    • @KitbashCustoms
      @KitbashCustoms  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It is but not disk joints, floor polish is better for closer joints like ball joints In my experience

  • @kylefunk546
    @kylefunk546 ปีที่แล้ว

    So can you disassemble a figure like the old way for paint prep? Like will the elbow and knee come out to disconnect from the bicep and forearm and calf and thigh??

    Could they be 3-D printing these pin-less arms and legs?

  • @davidurrutia1494
    @davidurrutia1494 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    They do it at different pressures and heat. That's why when one of those is off you get a fused joint. That's more complicated and expensive for no reason at all. But its the same deal as the necks, feet and hands. Just different engineering.

  • @ImTheKingOfHyrule
    @ImTheKingOfHyrule ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I've had to replace broken poly joints on 4" GI Joe figures and Marauder Inc. figures that were pinless. It's a pain but it is possible. Basically you have to cut the pin and hopefully have it stretched enough of a nub left on each side that it can catch on both sides of the joint. It would be nice if they at least weren't pinned all the way through to begin with though. I don't even know how they manufacture them.

  • @cmathissr46
    @cmathissr46 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    That's wild how they're connected, can't figure out how they mold it that way without it sticking together.Is the center piece of the joint that the pins connect to a different kind of plastic?

    • @KitbashCustoms

    Good shit. I've wondering what the pins look like in this "pinless" tech.
    I think u gotta pull it apart. One side of the peg has to be plugged in or glued through the arm.

    I'm late to the party - trying this with the new Red Skull/Dormmamu buck. No clue how the factory puts these together. I tugged on one of the knees after boiling and its a little loose now. They use PVC for these as opposed to ABS. I can work around it, but its still really bugging me that I have no idea how they mass produce these lol

    I think someone in Fodderbox fb made a post wit the new Kang showing the break in the loop🧐
    And to get it tight again dunk it in boiling water for a 60 seconds and jus let it cool for bout 5 minutes and you can also lightly clamp them where the pegs would be
    Clamp them to hard and you'll leave dents in the plastic🤓

  • @masterversal-toyhunter
    @masterversal-toyhunter 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    yea to do my MOTU masterverse customs i pretty much had to flex the flap of arm after heating it up then cut the pin into pin numbs so cutting the pin in half with my exacto knife as fiddly as that is, but once cooled the flaps of arm or knee or ankle are pretty stiff / Solid to keep the flaps from moving apart so no need to really glue, but yea its baffling how they are doing it, its like in 3D printing but having moving joints printed with a meltable flillerment that melts away to leave a joint mechanism. well how they do that in the injection molding process is nothing short of witch craft.... unless they are using a super solvent glue that welds the pin in place?? but even that considering the space to work with is a huge stretch.

    They do realize by not allowing us to use a painless or pinned joint to work other figures that we wont be buying extras reducing their sales by a 1/3 if not more. People by extras to kit bash or convert.. not anymore

    • @KitbashCustoms
      @KitbashCustoms  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m sure it’s a possibility but that’s not enough to stop a customizer, most people already cut one side and heat it up and slide it off. It’s not the hugest deal really people will still buy em especially in clearance
