That little wooden box looks like a salt box . My grandparents house had one hanging near the stove .they date to when salt was sold in papper bags and they were conveniently placed to add a pinch of salt .❤

Hey there Julie...I have a Vintage Clear Glass Bowl that is currently my Centerpiece on my dining room table...it's full of Murano Glass fruits and Vegetables. They are beautiful. My husband was helping a man clean out a house a couple years back and he was going to throw it all in the fire he had built. I'm so happy my Honey brought them home. Love the basket...we all have imperfections...cracks, breaks, stories, history.. and as for me...several wrinkles that no longer iron out, but..we still have value to those who love us...just like the basket. I lined my picnic basket with the liner just smaller than the interior of the basket so that when you fill the basket with whatever, there won't be any weight on the bottom of the basket it will be on the lining,. Hope this makes sense.

I love watching your video's. I had that recipe box in the early 80's mine also had the little nails to hold the cover on ( the recipe box was older then ) , the cover would slide off easily . I also have a old picnic basket ,(I believe I bought it for $3.99 ) like that , that I picked up like 10 years ago , I love it , I put plastic plates , glasses , bowls and silverware in it , so all I have to do is wash them put food in the basket and go as well as bringing my throw blankets for picnics

I have the Longaberger picnic basket. If it is a longaberger the yr and initials of the maker are on the bottom. Mine was made in 1993. I bought it new. I bought the plastic protector and red and white fabric liner. I have a.longaberger recipe box withe wooden lid and plastic protector and garden splendid liner. My basket was made in 1997. They were expensive. I thrift them all the time and have them all over the house now. I probably have 30 to 40. I went thrifting today. Brings me happiness😌

A friend & I went to an estate sale this morning (turned out to be a hike into a complex that they were keeping cars out of, but the walk was reminiscent of some of the exotic cruises we've been on, so was a magical destination. Bought a few things, but the home had been a vacation home, so everything was either destination souvenirs, or utilitarian, so neither of us bought much.) Then we went to a yard sale (bought a few things as well) but the very 1st thing that caught my eye was a small basket that had some pretty pink faux flowers on both sides! I picked it up & thought of you, but wasn't my taste, so left it!

It had the eagle on the front just like it..she always had cookies in it , and my favorites were the iced lemon cookies from the store and the windmill cookies with sliced almonds. I have my mom's collection of Fiesta in the original five colors that are "calmer" than the new colors. Quite the treasures now. Didn't want to mislead you. I learned something today too.
Love watching you thrift! I was happy to hear that if something is broken like that box with the top unattached, they gave you a discount. At my Goodwill one of the managers said she couldn't sell me a dress that I chose at 75% off (that was the color of the day for 75% off) because the little hole where the tag hangs from was a little distressed. Well, people handle all the tags to look at the prices, so I was very hurt for such unkindness. She offered to sell it to me at regular price.
Hey Julie. The basket was a great find. I liked the exercise mat, the red linen at 2:57 and the basket at 10:30. I can related to what your daughter is going through. My niece and her family live with me and the 2 year old loves spoons so he's always running off with them. I've started using plastic spoons to eat my breakfast with so that it's not a big deal if it gets misplaced. Hope you and yours have a great holiday weekend!
