After having my Apple Watch SE since late 2021, last week I finally made the decision to upgrade to an Apple Watch 9 SiP with cellular capabilities. I’m not disappointed at all. In fact I’m glad I made the jump in upgrade simply because when I heard that when Watch OS11 is released that it would not be supported on it, I thought I’d get the AW9 because I saw great reviews about it and it has an always on display whereas the SE does not.
There are Garmin watches that last 30+ days on a single charge with AMOLED displays. I think we have the technology. Apple just prioritizes performance and having super silky animations over longer battery life.
iPhone 14 doesn’t have an UW chip so it won’t work. “Find my phone” will still trigger your phone to beep and flash its light but it won’t indicate how far you are from it or what direction.
Just got my red series 9 and upgraded from the series 3. Looks exactly like the 3. I went in planning to get the Ultra 2, I love the look of the Ultra 2 and all the features but OMG the size of it is wayyy too big for me. Pisses me off they made it for a mans wrist. Apple could have made a smaller version for women. That watch looks absurd on a woman’s wrist and it’s heavy. Thanks a lot Apple. 😢
You have to be looking at the watch for it to work so in that sense... It will already be woken up. In this preview build it doesn't work when the screen is asleep.
I have the series 9. Having issues with double tap. I am told set up is correct. My son can put my watch on and double tap works. Has never worked for me. Suggestions?

S8 is a great watch, 98% the same as this new one. I would save the money. (Especially if you are a man, the S7 is 99% identical too. Don't need the new cycle tracking.)

Great video Dave! yeah i think the apple watch ultra 2 was a waste nothing really major they should have waited another year to release the apple watch ultra 2! I think one major thing that hold the apple watch up is battery life like you said in the video. Apple watch does not get a fulls day charge! Apple needs to find a way to extend battery life in all the watches and phones also. Design of the apple watch has been the same I know alot of people want a rounded apple watch I guess it could happen but i dont think it will. I wish apple would release new products on a every year basis! will never happen cause people will always keep buying the new products. What do you think about losing weight before getting back into running vs running and losing weight? I really miss running, but I know that if I get into running before I lose weight then I'm not going to enjoy running as much because I'll be focusing on weight loss from running. I'd much rather lose the weight and then run for fun & maintenance. Plus, easier on the joints long term, me thinks.
I have excess weight. I worry more about overuse injuries with running. I’m personally trying to keep my exercise load on the elliptical, indoor rower or bike. I feel like I’m always on the cusp of having shin splints though.
I have a series 3 in storage and recently got it out for my sister to use on her bike. You’re doing yourself a disservice holding onto an old unit like that.

double tap is on the watch and has nothing to do with your phone. So it will work with any phone.

Stainless steel has a more premium feel and look. I prefer the aluminum models because they’re lighter. 🤷♂️

Try tightening your strap. The watch relies on using the sensors to detect motion and if it's too loose it can't do that.

Double tap isn’t available yet. It’s coming in a software update next month.

In terms of heart rate, the apple watch ultra and series 9 are top performers. In GPS, they're very good and near the top of the pack.

Unlikely. Apple claims this new feature is due to a newly designed ultra wide band chip. It doesn’t use Bluetooth but a separate wireless signal.

A specific chip is required for it to work. It's not using bluetooth or wifi or anything the location is broadcast by an ultra wide band chip.
