I absolutely love Diawl Bach flies. The red holo and green holo and Organza are my favourites, but I'm going to try and tie up some of these. My boxes are full of them lol.
Not tied a fly since I was 18, now 63 has given me a bit of impetus to find my old fly tying box out and have a go..I think probably all my cottons and feathers will be moth eaten by now though..lol
Rhys- have you ever tied a fly using Husky fur? The outer coat is fine and naturally waterproof, so I'm sure it would float like CDC. The under coat is amazingly fine- like silk. I reckon that would make amazing dubbing. If you want to try it let me know, I'll send you some- we get tons of it!!
Not something I’ve ever thought of if I’m honest. If it’s very fine, would it not require a significant bulk to keep a fly dry? (and thus create a bulky fly)
@@RhysFishes I don't know- I've never tried tying a fly!! It's very similar in appearance and feel to CDC, but of course each hair is two or three inches long, so it might give you options you wouldn't get with feathers. It'd be interesting if nothing else!

I prefer red/black but the colour combinations are endless when it comes to DB's
