I read it on a forum of old-school Quick pilots. They all said any acrylic based exterior housepaint works best. Especially if it says it offers UV protection. The idea was to add life to the sails by blocking the upcoming UV rays so the sails will stay good for longer. I heard it extends the life of the sails by a few years. Since this plane was always hangar kept the sails were in great shape as far as degradation. I didn't want to have to worry about new sails for at least a couple years so I got an electric sprayer and picked my colors. It was only about a gallon so the weight added is around 8lbs. I think it's worth it and I love how it looks. Edit: Thanks for the sub! I returned the favor.
Good experience w/ parts availability? What’s the he-man do? Is that a castering nosewheel I see? ….I’d like to spread the foot pedals on a Quicksilver a bit too…thx
Yeah Quicksilvers have the most readily available parts original and aftermarket of most of the ultrlaights in production. Spreading the pedals would take some engineering but might be easy. My nosewheel is steerable. I got a bunch of upgrades on mine.
What did you use to paint the sails? I didn’t know you could do that.
