      +chris bossio hey what's up man? Great bid. I have a question. What would you suggest a new barber start with booth rental or commission? Is that the norm for a barber shop to pay commission or do most barber shops do booth rental only? The reason I'm asking is because I'm going to barber school and booth rental starting out just seems crazy to me with no clients. What your take on that

    I've been a barber for 35 years. I own my shop and I work alone. I charge $16 a haircut and most give me $20 and tell me to keep the change. I do three cuts an hour for 8 hours and take my money to the bank. I've worked for franchises and in full service salons in the past and worked with some of the best in the business and can tell you, you can never learn enough about all of what barbering is. But in a nutshell becoming a barber can be the best thing you ever did for yourself.

      What I see here isn’t that it is your fear to become a barber, probably your problem is a that you’re having thois inside fear for probably many other thing. I really hope I’m wrong though. Imma tell you only one thing bro. Do what your heart tells you its the best. 0% Fear 100% faith and commitment, and believe me, you’ll never regret it. Even if you fail, it is always, always worth the shot. Peace man

    I live in Montreal,Canada average cuts with beard here is 30$ + tips at 15-20 heads a day (let's say 18 heads=540$) × 5=2700$ - 350$ for you barber chair = 2350$ a week ! So that's 122k a year before taxes + tips.. average good barber in Montreal makes between 80k to 100k a year with tips. So just follow your dreams and dont worry about what google says

      Stay in the Army. Thats guaranteed money and benefits. The barber game is a cash and carry deal. No free medical or dental. No retirement plan. Your reward? The cash you take home everyday. Add in your booth or shop rent and expenditures that cut into your profit margin. You want to go to school? Go into a career that will guarantee you some benefits and a retirement plan. The barber game is no joke.

    Best video yet that I've seen on this subject. I'm 46 years old. I've cut hair for family and friends for years...not ever charging a dime. I have had serious thoughts lately about starting in barber school at night, then eventually opening my own shop. I'm nervous though. I live in South West Georgia. The population in my area is roughly 35 to 40 thousand people. I'd like to open just an old fashion type shop.

    appreciate the vid. there isn't an abundance of info online about a barbers actual pay like other careers. more barbers need to post videos or forums online discussing the pay. there is always an average in every career and barbering is not different. I like the fact of not having a limit to what you can make, but for the new inspiring barber there needs to be more info about actual pay. not generalizations but actual numbers from people in the game.

    • @Bossiocuts
      @Bossiocuts  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is not like any other career necessarily. Some barbers are employees some are self employed.. you can't give a general pay on thousands of enteepeneurs...

    I see your point. Thanks for the response. My mind is definitely made up this is what I want and I'm actually already ok with cutting hair. Been doing it for years with a few family and friends, but never for a living. I love cutting hair and I'm at a point in my life where I want the freedom that come with being my own boss so to speak. I have a question if you don't mind. Does it really matter about the foot traffic of a shop? Because I live in a city of around 200,000 ppl… not all that big with a lot of shops, but only maybe one or two who I see in areas with lots of foot traffic. What do you think about the smaller shops and chances of success. Thanks bro.

      +Dr. CDR R if your average week is 100 clients at $20 a piece that's 2k a week.. the average clients comes in twice a month at that rate you can probably only handle 300 clients yourself.. I think population 200k is a playground for a great barber!!

    When you went to barbering school did you have to learn how to also cut and dye and perm women's hair? Or does it depend on different schools

    What up Chris love your vids, keep them coming with those tutorials. I just got one question. I'm from Miami FL and most barbers here that I KNOW who taught me how to cut hair like to use the 0A, 0 speed-o guard and replace them with the wahl number 2 and number 3. From what they told me the number 2 & 3 from the factory dont blend as good as the speed guards do because they cut a little bit closer. From them teaching me this i never use my wahl guards number 2 & 3 & it works just fine. I go with what people in the game taught me from the beginning but I just would REALLY like to know if this is a myth or not. Also i know that the Andis guards are a bit different from the wahl guards too. Can you do a vid on this explaining this or if you can write back i would really appreciate my dude! Keep up the good work!!

    • @Bossiocuts
      @Bossiocuts  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kevin C your boys are right the red guards are different and you can see it on the packaging the measurements are bit different. wahls and andis are the same i believe the difference is the blade is short on the wahl than on andis.. therefore you need the 1 1/2 guard to connect the 1 guard to the 2 guard.. hope that makes sense but i plan on doing one of those vids soon

    • @kevinc6073
      @kevinc6073 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      chris bossio yeah it makes perfect sense bro, really hope you can have time to make a video explaining the 2 to the exact detail also another vid on explaining shear work lol... I know you got mad vids to make for your viewers but just those 2 vids will help me out alot especially explaining the shear game lol. Keep it up with the vids bro you're one of my favorite barbers on my list! you keep shit real and actually know how to teach & explain!!

    Can you please give a video in terms of when you do the coloring of hair relaxers on a hair as a barber and I'd like to know where you ever taught how to add eyelash extensions as I noticed that the Xtreme Lashes only allows those that are estheticians Barbers and cosmetologist to you no train for a week's time in adding eyelashes and finally I have the question of as a barber I noticed that they never crossed trained you all in school how to style a woman's hair how to cut it in a pageboy a bob how to Marcel curl it, things of that nature can you tell me why that is why are they not teaching Barbers to be just as diverse as cosmetologist

      Its all about views bro... you dont really start making serious money till you can get 100k subs. Your view counts are more consitant at that point but you can make money right away.. i would say from the amount of time i spend making these videos and editing and so on its alot less than min wage

Alot of ppl around my way keep telling me, "ahhh that's dope you wanna learn it pays mad money"! Honestly I just wanna learn, I feel that having ambition for anything is good enough as long as it's a positive one and the rest will follow. Just my opinion, take care ppl follow ya dreams and show this youth that's dreams can be achieved!

    not really sure. maybe because the local barbershops I'm used to seeing aren't the type of atmosphere I want to work around. maybe if I found a nice open minded upscale shop that takes pride in their services Id change my mind. but I'm still considering the option.

      ant rozay create what you want for yourself bro. set that goal and open that shop up yourself. everything you do from now till then should just be you working towards that goal. set your own reality.. good luck on your journey man wish you much success on w.e you decide

    I talked to a barber in my area his name is Henry and he has his own barber shop called Henry G's, i told him how was cutting hair and the new clippers I got, and he said Barbers always have money in their pocket, he said since he started cutting he's never been broke again and he told how he got to buy his own house and a car, and take care of his family. He told me he learned from cutting his friend and cousins and when he went to prison he always knew how to cut so they started paying him, and cool thing is he said he learn how to fade with a razor and comb. He said as a barber you'll always have money but you just got to put in the work.

      plus you decide how much you charge per head anyway. So assuming you pop #30 dollars a day on 15 heads a day then you hit 450 daily. Or change your prices / head count, so up to you
