Modular Mia 4x5 pinhole rocks, I love it so much because of its great vignetting and huge wide angle. It is really huge.

I also have one of these. The vignette is very heavy. On my next outing in going to over expose by 2 stops to see if that combats the vignette. I have done this with other extremely wide angle pinholes.

      That's actually a great tip!

I dont want to hurt you, but usually we choose pinhole cameras for vignetting. If you wanna go for no vignetting: Harman Titan 4x5 is your tool

@chriscard6544 If you want vignette, you will love the mia 6x6...it has it in spades!

Of the 30+ pinhole cameras I have, nothing has the heavy vignette like the mia 10mm. It takes up the majority of the picture. It's inevitable given its so wide. James from reality so subtle suggests you add 2 stops to his 35mm panoramic, to combat the wide angle. The best way to reduce vignette is to have a curved film plane, so the distance from the pinhole is the same across the film plane.

that shutter design should have iterated its way to something a bit more fool proof during testing; there's literally no reason for the magnets to catch the shutter in a position other than fully open or fully closed. i love that mia is working pushing a lot of creative boundaries with their designs, but they all feel like they're still a work in progress.

I agree in this regard! I think the pinhole cover could do with a redesign using a similar one magnet cover like the Ilford Obscura or a small slider. I may cover the upper magnet that catches. It needs to be a smooth flip up to reduce shake and with the two magnets its slow and janky.

      Thanks for the video!
The thought behind the was exactly as you demonstrated in the video. The second magnet is a reference for you to know that you have to pass it. Because it is such a wide angle camera, it is very easy to not open the shutter completely.
Anyway, if you pay for the postage, I’m happy to modify the camera for a single magnet 😊

@@MIApinholecameras i'd recommend changing the design so that the bottom magnet holds the shutter in a closed position and the top magnet holds it open. that would be significantly more intuitive than the current design.

@@MIApinholecameras Heya! Sure I get that reasoning. Something that should be noted for first time users as its an easy thing to go wrong with. No need for me to send it ill deactivate one of the magnets easily enough. :-)

@@thomaschipman problem with that is the current cover design wont clear the pinhole (its a big cover). A rectangular "Y" design might be a better alternative...maybe! XD
