Out With Harman Phoenix

Out with the new (ish) early wip film manufactured here in ol' UK. My thoughts: It's wildly inconsistent. It's great for woodland, greenery, stone buildings. Even though I meter for the ground or overexpose for shadow it crushes any dark areas regardless. Latitude is narrow. Grain is insane. I kind of like some of the results...reminds me of vintage Agfa film. I hate shooting 36 roll film. Gimme...

had to pause + say what a wonderful video this is.. soothing, beautiful + informative, in more than specs, in perspective 👌🏽 🌹
Great little camera! Nice design contrast between the printed material and the wood. For pinhole photography, I think 35mm is a bit (too) small and 120 is a better starting point when it comes to IQ.
Agree but surprised it wasn't too far off (pinhole is about that groovy softness anyway) I do think it'll be fine for small prints, online sharing snd tge like but not so much for anything large.
Hi Andy, great photos ! Are these straight out of camera or cropped? Thanks, keep up the great fun of capturing pinhole images.
Hey! Thanks!! Images are straight out of camera (bit of contrast fixing in post) with no crop.
так же в восторге от неё
cool )
I’m getting the pinhole itch again!
@@kstrohmeier Gotta scratch that itch!
Thanks for the objective review. I hope you enjoy this camera for many years to come. The photos are very cool.
@@Ranicacameras Thank you for making these little gems ;-) It'll be coming on holiday with me thats for sure!
awesome
@@chriscard6544 Thanks again Chris! :-D
Great video! I just got myself a Agfa Clack as well and I'm looking forward to some night and low light long exposures. I was wondering what you use to judge your exposure time? Is there a light meter settings you look for to set for this type of camera? I have a light meter phone app but I'm struggling to understand how to pull how many seconds of exposure time out of the information provided.
@@nicholasdurant6866 Hi! I use an app simply called light meter. The clack is on bulb. Aperture I set to f11 on the app with the respective iso. Shutter on app would display how many seconds to hold open for and as a (rough) rule I would just double the exposure time for reciprocity.
Surprisingly sharp photos considering the lens and Kodak Gold being more of a daylight film. I have some 100 ISO B&W film loaded in my Clack which I'll be trying out at night. Its nice to work with such large 6x9 negatives.
Hi I have this camera with me since few weeks, but it's a bit harder to focus in indoors and outdoors as well, how should I overcome it?
@@ManideepT-gz6kv You will really need to learn zone focusing. For example an arms length is roughly a meter. For close up subjects I put my arm out straight from the distance from the subject. You can also judge by footsteps.
Спасибо за видео! Подскажите, как убрать с копуса камеры белые надписи "Lumix" и прочие?
I put electrical tape over the logos.
If I dun cut the Minolta MD lens aperture pin will damage the camera? Cos I still use the MD lens on my Minolta X700 camera.
It will mount on a funny angle and mounting it more correct requires you to snip the pins or it will catch on the mirror. My lenses still work on my x300 even with the pins snipped down.
What are the chances that an M mount lens can be adapted for manual focus?
Thank you! Got the same model over a decade in a drawer. Today i found her again, immediately ordered film. Never covered the flash but it looks so much better at bright sunshine! <3
Where can i get a viewfinder like yours?
A really nice camera. I have a few agfa isolettes. Same sort of period as your camera. There such a Joy to use. I have a Kodak box camera from about 1915' it cost less the the price of a couple of films. It makes interesting images. I like to use ' fomapan 320 retro, gives a period look. Unfortunately I don't think it's available currently, but I have a good stock of it in the freezer.
I’ve just got a Zero Image pinhole, it has the deluxe extras like filter holder and cable release…. ! One roll so far and it all seems fine … would love to know how you worked out the angle of view horizontal and vertical so you can add your black tape as a guide….. thanks very much….
I originally used the included lanyard and made the judgement from there.
Photos turned out great! I personally like the light leaks, adds a more nostalgic feel! What camera are you using for the pov shots whist your shooting?
Agree it gives it that ye olde look ;-) I use a Dji osmo section 4 strapped to my chest. Thanks for watchinĝ!
Action...not section.
Impressive to see see what 'old stuff' can produce; once you manage to get rid of that light incursion, it'll take great images :-)
Now I know where the issue lies I will be using this old geezer more in the future. Many discard old cameras as junk. It's not junk it history!
beautiful video
Thank you, Chris! And thankyou for still watching my little videos!
Very nice, and good results despite the light leaks.
Thanks! Being so old I'm happy to even get one good shot from the camera but came back with a couple.
Not a rangefinder and not a DSLR.
@@edjefferson9175 body is styled on a rangefinder and has a single lens reflex mirror, shoots digital and so that makes it a DSLR.
Great shot, great camera, great painting
I really like the photos taken with your 410 camera. What is the focal length of this camera?
Not sure but probably somewhere between 90 to 100mm going by the depth of the camera
I've just done the same. Unlike you and apparently everyone in the comments. I was sat racking my brain, trying to figure out where the 2 posts came from. I"I don't remember there being any posts in that field "
Haha yeah seems a very easy mistake to make. James has a new updated version that seems to make things more fool proof and easier to load.
How is the image quality with that 15 mm voiglander are the edges really soft wide open ? Love to know your opinion thx
May I ask what third party batteries you are able to get for the M8? It seems like there is a shortage of Leica M8 batteries in the US…
Audio setup for these ?
Hi Andy, thoroughly enjoyed your travelling and risk taking in this episode. Lots of fun ! Question about the 4x10 paper negative. Do you pre flash the paper? And what do you normally rate the ISO for the paper? Also what paper do you normally use? Does it vary based on the the weather or? Thanks for the feedback.
Hiya! I dont get all wound up in technical stuff with paper negative so I don't flash the paper before. Iso 6 is what I rate at. Im using Ilford multigrade b&w paper (gloss) usually but also using old Ilford grade 2 b&w (gloss). Weather wise its only exposure times that is variable. Develop in highly diluted ilford multigrade. 1 parts 19 water. Diluted Vinegar for stop. 20 seconds in ilford rapid fixer. When scanning I will use a flatbed scanner but for the very best results for extra detail and a bit more latitude I use a lightbox and dslr.
Nice video and lovely shots 🎉
Thanks Mattias!
Smart thing to try and circumnavigate those looong exposures by setting up multiple cameras at multiple locations; not sure I would like the anxiety of leaving my cameras unattanded in the wild, but I guess on sundays a lot less people would be around there.
Love the video and photos, really good. Try using a washer on the tripod mount to stop the clack wobbling about.
On tenterhooks to see whether one or all of the cameras would be stolen. (I might have taken the 4 x 10.) Distinctly Sundayish mood to the photos. Thanks.
The 4x10 would be missed greatly! Thankfully people were more interested in driving than some strange wooden looking thing!
On the clack, I use an elastic band to keep the shutter open on long exposures. Just hooks on the shutter button and underneath & found the back to the wind nob. Or to the tripod let it I can't find a long one. I've done the same On the sprocket rocket.
Good bit of info. Still a bit of a wobbly so and so.
awesome
Thanks, Chris! 🙂
hey can you compare the image quality and print quality between the sq10 and mini evo? I have a dillema between these two models :)
5:35 yup, I have an e550 and every time the battery dies, have to redo all the settings again. why does it do that lmao. so annoying.
Where can I find one in UK please? Any link?
Nice images mate! Leica are a puzzle sometimes. Why did they let go of this lens? If the lens from this little beauty was on the new D-Lux 8 it would race off the shelves. I so have an aversion to telescopic zoom lenses…✌️🇦🇺

Nice relaxing stroll while pinholing! :-)
Weather was good for a change!
way cool experimenting
Some nice images, I’ve not used colour film in my pinhole camera yet but you have inspired me!,😀
Yeah I was quite surprised how punchy the colours were. I heard Ektar works nice too! Look forward to seeing your colour shots if you do any!
I’ve noticed on various channels who feature the zero 2000 that there is minimal vignetting, I have the RSS 6x6 and it has heavy vignetting. Are your images corrected in any way? My curved film plane 6x17 and 6x12 RSS have no vignetting to speak of. Your feedback would be helpful.👍😀
There is very little vignette on the Zero image 2000. Its a little more there with colour when shooting skylines but B&W hardly anything. Its a very reliable pinhole in my opinion. No corrections except a bit of contrast and sharpening.
I carry 2 shishkabob skewers or chopsticks to extend out the markings on the sides and top of camera for the framing, makes it easier to see more accurately👍
That's a nice tip! Might give that a go.
Fond memories 😂🤣😱👍
If you like windmills you need to come to the Netherlands 😄 lots of them here.
