- A pitcher in Major League Baseball losing 20 games in a season has all but become extinct in the past 45 years. Since 1980, there has only been one, and it occurred in 2003. How exactly did this pitcher accomplish this feat, and will we ever see it happen again?

A pitcher losing 20 games in a season is way more of an indictment on the team overall, rather than the pitcher.
True. Chris Archer in 2016 had a 4.02 ERA (100 ERA+) but lost 19 games.
