A tin full of orcs, elves, treemen and dwarves. So, when I discovered GW in 1983, that's what I started collecting and building. So so far, I want to get Dwarves, Wood Elves and Orcs, with Empire thrown in the mix.👍👍
Has anyone else noticed we have very few ways to get a S4 attack? Against T4 enemies we will be wounding on 5+ - Which is really going to hurt. Longbows lost the S4 at half range, Dryands are S3 instead of S4, Treekin lost a Strength, and a treeman is only S5? T4 armies such as dwarves are going to be difficult to chew through.
This is my concern as well, it seems like they want you to hang back and shoot to win....not fun to play and not fun to play against. The S5 Treeman is really bothering me. Dwarfs will be a nightmare at T4 and lots of armor...
I ran a Sethayla style list in 7th but was forced to add more shooting and magic in 8th. Im hoping I can still use it to run and gun in this edition. Biggest change is needing waystalkers to get waywatchers. That's an annoying tax, esp as only one of those units can ambush now. Being able to also bring eagles, despite their points increase, is good news.
Since armor bane only gets activated on a 6 to wound if WE take hagbane tips and hits on 6 which auto wound they automatically don't get armor bane on those hits. That's a bit bad
Do tree spirit ward safe work vs magic attacks? (back in the days it didn´t work) And is there still the magic item to hop to a forest with a unit? Or any magic items for woodelves?
They now got regeneration instead of the ward save they had so yea works against magical attacks but now not against flaming attacks. But flammable rule no longer takes multiwounds but simply cancels out regen saves so fire got less scary for the bigger tree fellas.
no ap on the longbows is a big disappointment... the premier skirmish shooting army should have had ap1 with maybe no armorbane... and having regular volley fire so half of your second rank cant even shoot is just annoying magic arrows also got nerfed a bit too... especially the trueflight arrows that no longer negate the moving and shooting penalty no acorn of ages so you are limited to the terrain layout and only get 1 free woods... the spell is ok but can get dispelled on the positive side flammable is a lot less impactful so the trees might have a good niche and on the very positive side sisters of the thorn are possibly the single greatest utility unit in the game... what an amazing combination of rules
Yea it all seems a bit weird. Wood elves now got worse bows than high elves and they can't move through woods any quicker than anyone else so some wood elf units want to actually avoid woods now wth. Also they arn't any better at shooting anymore either, long range penalty and movie and fire penalty apply. It's lame that all their skill and uniqueness regarding shooting now comes through some arrow making skills and comes with a cost.
@cmxpiipl Waywatchers are pricey, then are taxed with a character per unit and if you want arrows you pay even more. On top of that only one can ambush?
Honestly wood elves don't move through woods any faster anymore?!? That's just lame, why now would they abandon armor if it doesn't give them any advantage mobilitywise or initiative wise what so ever?
Do you usually play with people who list tailor? Some of your comments made it seem like you expect people to try to metagame your wood elves in the list building stage. My LGS is pretty good about people bringing all comer lists and finding an opponent after that

I really hope we get a Forest Dragon kit that looks exactly like the Warhammer Total War unit. Also Warhawk Riders would be nice too.

I had a bushviper-decoration, with the dryad arms that look like antlers and a gladecaptain on its head as a forest dragon.
It worked extremely well

1:30 do i not see Forest dragon? i saw in other rewius that is in Forces of order/fantasy/good book ? is it missing hre? or on rere?

Why do you say front rank of 8 will be coming for shooting units?
Because its a great way to maximise shooting from what I've been able to experience. You could go higher but 8 seems like a fair rank :)
Engineers aren't necessarily gone. They were there in the first movie.....sort of. Maybe we'll actually get them treated properly
