  • This is a fix for the Sonicare Toothbrush Repair HX680C electric toothbrush. They are very expensive so if they stop working, it is well worth fixing them as otherwise they are great toothbrushes.

    Before you put screw back in, put in red or blue locktite on the threads to keep the screws from backing out again. It will eventually fall off again if you don't have locktite.

    I was about ready to get new toothbrushes before I saw your video! So happy to be able to keep using the toothbrush I like instead of having to hunt for a new one. Clear easy instructions to follow! One of the toothbrushes came open easy and the other was a STRUGGLE but eventually got it open and fixed the screws on both! Thank you so much!

    Oh man! Thanks! We’ve had nothing but issues with our sonicare toothbrush. After about warranting 2 of of them for loose brush heads, our new one started doing it again. So frustrating. Now I did have a little trouble popping my back off but finally got it off (with some damage). Sure enough the screws were loose! Tightened up and reassembled and works like new. You would think they would lock-tite those screws. Anyways thanks!

    Thanks, this worked on my 4100. To get the bottom off without damaging the bottom, I used a box cutter knife and went around the perimeter just prying slightly. When you get around the whole bottom, it will release the rubber seal and will be able to pop it out easily.

    For those with the Philips Sonicare toothbrush hx682p, this fix works exactly the same way! I noticed the weird vibration sound and there was even something rattling around inside. Turns out the top screw in my toothbrush had come all the way out and the small piece behind it that I can only guess acts like a sort of nut also came out. I put them both back in place, tightened the screw, and now it works like new! Thank you so much for your video!
    For those who had their toothbrush's screw and small piece come all the way out:
    If you find an object with a hole it in, a smooth side and a curved side with a divot in the back, this goes behind the screw with the flat side on top. It fits against the metal plates on top and should fit over the curved bar under the screw hole. If you look closely at Andrew's video, you can see how it should be orientated and what the piece looks like.

    Couldn't see what you were doing to the tabs inside. All I saw was you wiggling the screwdriver inside and the two tabs somehow released. Wish you would have zoomed in AFTER you got the insides out of the sleeve.to show what the tabs looks like and pointed to what you were prying and in which direction.

    Hey thanks for the great video I’m a pretty handy DIYer and just used your techniques and I was able to tighten the screw on mine I’m only a year into this unit and it just started doing this you would think that they would run some sort of blue or red Loctite from the factory on the screw, or if you’re in the industry like me ( i’m a maintenance mechanic for winery) working on the car or you see some sort of sealant they use some sort of industrial sealant for things such as brake caliper bolts The automotive applications!
    Tomorrow I will bring home some blue Loctite on my other sonicare take that apart and test blue Loctite to see if the screw will back out again!

    Maybe some thread locker on that screw… Maybe some gorilla glue to seal it; the clear rubbery type stuff.

  • @Auriam
    @Auriam ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Exactly the problem I've had on this and the previous Phillips toothbrush. Great video. Only thing I would change is that I took the screw out, put some strong super glue on it and screwed it back in, hopefully it will never loosen again. And of course I put some of that same gel super glue around the bottom of the brush case before I put the bottom seal back in to make it permanently waterproof.

    Great video, took me literally 10 minutes to fix my 100 GBP toothbrush instead of ... dumping it or sending it in for repair, which would last ??? This should be made much easier by the manufacturer, as it is a DESIGN FAULT!! Obviously with those high frequency vibrations (great for gums) this screw will come loose eventually (took 2 years, just out of warranty...) and the brush stop functioning. A screwed bottom or similar to have easy access. This should be enforced by the lawmakers (EU commission, where are you??) - making it easy to fix simple problems.

    I have the exact same toothbrush and for whatever reason it's completely dead. Like the day before it was working completely fine and the next day it went kaput. This is after roughly 3 years of use. No battery indicator turns on, pressing the power button does nothing and leaving it on the charger does absolutely nothing.
    Any clues to what happened to my toothbrush and if it can be fixed?

  • @chileheadcraig
    @chileheadcraig 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

    FYI, may not work with a 4100 made within the last couple years. It looks like they tried to improve the design by making the shaft part of the motor and there's no longer a screw to be tightened but mine ended up having the problem anyways. When I took it apart there was no way to fix it. Thankfully it was within the warranty period and they sent me a new one.

    Thank you for this, I own the exact model that you have there and are having issues with it making a loud buzzing sound. Thank you for giving me the confidence and foresight to get in there properly and the fact its a very simple repair! Watched another video with an american chap and he used a 1/4-20 bolt (??) which the conversion to normal measurements is around an M6x 1 bolt. This seems to screw nicely in to the bottom then you can pop off the bottom without any damage to anything (which is excellent!) and then releasing the two tabs you mention as well.
    Thank you for this video :D

    Thanks for the video. Mine was starting to make noise and out of warranty (I had a replacement for the same thing under warranty). With 4 people using it, these toothbrushes work great but there is a lot of stress on the tip so it is a matter of time before this repair is needed even if you are delicate and careful. Tightening the screw did the trick. Getting access to it, that was the hard part and your video guided me through the plastic casing and clip obstacle.
