En base de la palabra tal me venía la expresión tal vez o en catalán tal vegada como sinónimo de quizás a la mente. Entiendo su derivado de algún modo ( = tal vez ) con estas explicaciones.

Qué interesante! No sabía todo esto. Los idiomas nunca dejan de sorprenderme. Siempre pensaba que el latín fue el único idioma que había influenciado en el desarrollo del idioma español, pero fue fascinante enterarme de que el francés también lo ha marcado. Gracias por el video! Saludos.

I grew up in Miami where we have a big Spanish-speaking community from all over. I've heard "Buen día" used by Latin American native speakers. It's used in the same way it's used in English.

I have studied French 5 years and Italian translation 4 years. This means I can understand some Spanish and read it, but speaking is more of a challenge.
funny, spanish is the only one with only 5 sounds for vowels (similar to japanese a e i o u), so it could be easier depending on which spanish you learn from 20 different nationalities)
The pronunciation is not a problem. I just have not studied it fornally so coming up with many correct phrases is difficult, especially when you have studied at least 7 other languages.

Isn't French a latin language so technically "Hola" does have "Latin" roots indirectly, but I know what you mean about it not coming from the Latin language directly.
Yes, French is part of the Romance languages which all descended from Vulgar Latin but not all words in French came from Latin.
Yeah but Francs are originally a Germanic people so that's probably why they have a non-latin vocabulary, and also their phonetic is very different than all other Latin languages.
¡súper interesante! I'm one of those people who have questioned why it is "buenos días" "buenas noches" etc. , why there is no "good evening" & why we say "de nada"/ "Of nothing" to say "you're welcome".

I also find it not so nice that we say "De nada" also in French this way exist. So I like also saying "Con mucho gusto"

Where is the one wearing glasses from? I notice his pronunciation of the "s" as aspirated. I think this is common in Chile, right? Is there another place where this is common?
I believe it's also common in Andalusia, but I don't know if José is from there
¡Hola! José is from Bolivia. The aspirated “s” is used in some countries in the Caribbean, Central and South America, as well as some parts of Mexico (Veracruz) and Spain (Andalusia). It’s a good topic for an episode.

It's often paired with some head shaking or thinking of how to explain something, like an unknown word.

¡Me pregunto cómo no mencionó que muchas palabras en español son de origen árabe! Todos los que han estudiado historia saben esto... porque los árabes gobernaron España durante 700 años y hasta el sur de España, la mayoría de las ciudades tienen nombres árabes... Aprendieron la honestidad y la justicia.
