The almighty XC70. King of the Swedish road. From cold icy winters to dead hot summer days. Takes you anywhere and everywhere. Off road or street. Just give the baby some love and it never dies.
Tires make huge difference - we did some serious off road trails in our XC70, loose sharp rocks, 6" ledges & 30-40% grades from 4000ft to 9000ft.... Not many issues, even ground clearance was OK. The Falken Wildpeak A/T Trails tires we have were fantastic off-road and dead quiet onroad.
Believe it or not the VW has one of the best if not THE best 4WD system (especially if it's the 4XMotion variant). Most come with locking differentials too. His driver wasn't doing a very good job spinning those tires on that hill slope.
That is super impressive! I have a P3 XC70 and have taken it on some pretty rugged tracks, I haven't been game to the it on the serious off-road ones, but this make me tempted now!
Why does that white Rubicon look so weak? And it seems to me that you don't actually need a Jeep or heavily modified car to enjoy overloading/off roading. A XC70 on all terrain tires can do a very good job too.
Absolutely you can! that xc70 went everywhere we did and had just as much if not more fun. only thing id recommend which he has is upgraded skid plates as there were a few rocks etc where he high centred and hit his undercarriage
@@countryslickerofficial Yes, skid plates are a must, also protection for the rear diff servo/electronics. IPD makes both front & diff plates for these cars and Volvo has a factory engine bash plate as an option.
In the switchbacks, the advantage of live axel really shows in wheel articulation (Jeeps) vs independent suspension (VW, Volvo). Lift kits on Inde. Suspension can add ground clearance but adds very little articulation. When you have wheels off the ground, the AWD system have to do the work to send power to the wheels that have contact... and assuming the AWD system *can* send 100% of the power to wheel that have contact, that's still reduced contact and lower total traction compared to a vehicle that does better at keeping all four wheels in contact with the ground... What can be done to improve wheel articulation on the VW and Volvo? Lift kit? Disconnectable anti-roll bars?
If you have good tires, those trails should be no problem. Somertime all season tires don't work! If you are going to ice trails, studded tires are like magic. My Volvo XC70 is like a tank.
That Volvo is awesome! I just got a 2010 xc70 I was wanting to take off-road too. Cant seem to find much on lifting the 3rd gen ones tho. Will probably have to downgrade to a second gen or get a grand Cherokee or something
my buddy had to search real hard for his 4 inch lift. I believe he is still waiting on the parts to come in for that but im sure it will be well worth the wait. I know the Volvos awd system is nuts and really performs offroad.
Thats it, i am moving to Canada. Going proper offroading once a year isn't acceptable anymore. Where i live i am not allowed to use the 4" liftkit on the xc70.
@@countryslickerofficial It considered not road legal. It won't get through the safety inspection. But then again you don't really need a 4" lift kit in Germany. 5-6" of ground clearance will get you anywhere you want to go really. The stock XC70 or the A6 Allroad suffice. I really envy you guys, I'd join you in a heartbeat. You know anyone who looking for a skilled Cabinet maker with lots of CNC experience? A job offer would significantly help. Jokes aside, i really enjoy your Videos. Shows me what i am missing and motivating me to do better. Thx for the effort
I have a set of Falken Wildpeak A/T Trails and they are fantastic both off-road and on-road. They are significantly quieter than the Pirelli Scorpions they replaced. IMHO the perfect tire for these cars.
Not a single proper SUV. Not one example of the origin SUV, the queen of them all. Noteven the short version. No. And Jeeps. Jeeps are godd. But. Yes, but not the mother, where it all began. NO. Because you cant handle it. :)

pretty damn impressive vehicles! just got back from the sticks from another adventure and that Volvo showed up to impress again

What size wildpeaks?
Damn that volvo was not disappointing! A bit of lift and some rougher tires and it'll go everywhere
funny you say that he just ordered a 4 inch lift and 31s for it.
@@countryslickerofficial Oh man right on!
@@nopoint30 yeah man! stay tuned cause we will def do an updated video and try breaking some shit!

Dude that Volvo XC70 is a beast!!
Don't you just love that XC70?
my buddy def loves it!
Ordering a suspension and subframe lift kits soon to my Xc70 + allterrains🤤
can't wait to see it!
Awesome ! Momentum and a great car will get you many places 🙏
The Volvo XC-70. A true Wolf in Sheeps clothing,

Love the clean Xc70.
what music was playing first song? really cool
thank you! it should be in the comments. I can't remember off the top of my head.
The scenery is beautiful, where is this located?
this is out towards ghost lake PLUZ in Alberta Canada
That is super impressive! I have a P3 XC70 and have taken it on some pretty rugged tracks, I haven't been game to the it on the serious off-road ones, but this make me tempted now!
it can definitely handle it, the add system is truly incredible on these

Their awd system is truly amazing
Depends to 50% on tires and driving skills. We made the lion's back in Moab in 2010 with in XC 70 seeing an Hummer going down sideways😂😂😂😂
id agree with that! Driver mod is the best mod hands down
What mods did the Volvo have when this was filmed?
I believe just the bigger tires and skid plates. since then he is putting in a 4 inch lift and going to bigger tires.
This is really about tires...
Grand Cherokee dominanting

It's perfectly capable off road without a lift. Just get a set of decent offroad tires and some IPD bash plates.

The v6 somewhere around the 225 mark i believe
could you raise the air intake on your xc70? or is all stock?
You definitely could.

What tyres are on that XC70? Just bought one and wondering about which tyres and what size work on it
I think they are a kumho brand
