Geez, we kinda like that old silver radio. We have owned our 1982 D 400 convertible for many years. What a joy it's been. It's my wife's favorite car. Our 400 was repainted Forest Green so it looks good. We get a ton of compliments on it.

    That's a survivor car, for sure! I think you're underestimating the K car's value.

We have a forest green one and it gets a LOT of attention. It's almost mind-blowing. There could be a super nice Camaro or Mustang sitting right next to it and people are more interested in our 1982 Dodge 400 convertible. It's really quite incredible.

Anywhere from 80-90 hp range was the norm for 4 cyl vehicles. Drop a slush box in them and they were absolute nightmares to get onto a freeway. But you got to admit, that Dodge 400 was a good looking vehicle in it's day. Still is in my opinion.

We have a 1982 Dodge 400 convertible and have owned it many years. It definitely turns a lot of heads and we get asked questions about it all the time. It's such a great car for cruising around in. The electric top is super fast. I found old repair books to keep it going. We have BMW, Subaru and Toyota cars as well, but this is definitely a favorite! Drive it like a golf cart and it's very relaxing and reliable. The front seats are VERY comfortable. If find one and are handy with tools or have a mechanic that understands carburators. This is such an interesting car. Little kids and elderly people really like it. It isn't a GTO or Mustang, it's very rare. And we really love it. ❤

You can bump up the ignition timming a bit and it'll help it get up and go a lot better. Iirc the base timming on those 2.2/2.5L was way too low at about 12°.

I had both an '84 LeBaron and a 400 convertible in the late 90's. They were slow and cantankerous but lots of fun. Thanks for reminding me of those good times.

This would’ve been a good one to fix and flip…. No one else is doing it, that’s for sure…

This is a very cool and unique car. There were no American convertibles available from ‘76 until the early ‘80s, and this was one the first ones to return. Ted Kennedy drove the Le Baron version when they first came out. Great video!

Had one of these when I was 19
Bought it for 400 put a radiator in it and drove it for two years then sold it for 400 .
Car was amazingly smooth and very comfortable and roomy .
But yes it was really slow .
Mine was whit exterior with super blue interior vinyl seats and dash .
Put a jamming stereo and 6x9 Speakers under the back dash and was cool sounding ride

You look far better in that 400 then the Red Eye. LOL I saw on eBay a 1985 Dodge 600 with a 2.2 for 18,900, they are crazy asking that price.

I was 11 when that car was new, and I would definitely love having it as a daily driver. I always loved K cars. They had great gas mileage.

The carbureted 2.2L engines were not all that bad. The fuel injected 2.2 turbo had the most problems. But the carbureted engine is painfully slow 😂

The later 2.2/2.5 with TBI are generally more reliable

If you decide to do anything to it please put a top on it to preserve that nice interior. I think someone would like to have it, especially in that kind of condition.

my parents had many of the 2.2's and they were not as bad as they made them sound. Worse issue was the head gasket and it was a fairly easy fix. My dad had a timing belt break and all it took was the belt to repair it. didn't even bend any valves.

theres nothing wrong with the 2.2, I'm looking at a 85 600 at the moment. i love it, you wont be seeing a ton where ever you go

That car in its day was hot sh*t. One of the first convertibles in a long time. With a turbocharger, performance wasn’t horrible. Turbo lag and torque steer made it somewhat exciting.

The top works, unlike some Newer German convertibles you have had in the past. That car is nearly 40 years old and is still kicking.

This is a pretty rare car. They apparently go for between $7500 and $12,000 at Barrett Jackson ( which has pretty inflated prices) but it could be worth putting a top on it, and a paint job. I think it’s pretty cool.

I remember my parents had two 87 Plymouths. They were so good, but so crap at the same time. They were not K-cars but they were the same era of Chrysler Corp.
