@@AutoAuctionRebuilds yeah that is insane for that car. For $600-800 it might have been worth a go to try and get the transmission to come around, but I wouldn't pay that price for that car if it was clean and running and driving good.

I once watch an old guy pop out a bunch of hail dents. He had a propane torch to heat the metal and a squirt bottle filled with ice water. It’s a real skill to do what he did!

Being a former body and paint man I would just grind the paint off of the affected areas and work all of the dents out that I could reach the bottom side of on the hood and deck lid and skim the rest with filler, hood and all and paint all of the affected areas! Randy, When you see filler popping out of dents it's because it wasn't used properly! Not because filler is bad, When it's used properly it will outlast the car! Most of the time when you see filler coming off it's been used to cover up rust and that's it's intended purpose! Look at the muscle cars you see being done on TV , They will take a brand new part straight out of the box and skim coat it to make it flawlessly straight. If anybody at a car show tells you that their old collector car has no filler in it they're lying!

I had an '84 Town Car when we lived in Yuma, AZ. The A/C worked well in it, and was welcomed! It isn't a carburetor, but throttle body fuel injection. It has 2 fuel injectors over the throttle plates, and they spray fuel into the air stream there. We would get 22 mpg on the highway with it. We would drive from Yuma to San Diego and still maintain that gas mileage even though the mountains would reach over 4000 feet, with about sea level at each end of the trip. Considering that the brakes didn't seem to work, I'd guess that the car sat for a quite a while, maybe a year. Those brakes don't have much feel to them, and it takes a while to get used to them, so they may actually work. Check the level of the brake fluid. The same with the transmission. On those, more times than not, you just need to pour a few quarts into it. I don't know about hail dents on the other cars, but I've been told that putting dry ice chips in the dents will make them pop out. Might be worth a try on a transportation car.

Awesome to see a mid 80's Town Car in this condition just sitting there waiting to be saved. FYI the center hood stripes are part of the Signature Series package as you may have noticed the matching stripes on the bodysides, and no its not carburetored it's a throttle body injection. One thing funny about it is that it's not equipped with leather wrapped steering wheel as almost all were in the signatures. Totally worth saving for who ever gets it in this condition. Spectacular find!

The Audi is quoted around 35K on KBB, considering the salvage title and the damage if she goes around 20-25K could be a good deal if you can find the hood and the trunk used

I work in the office of a body shop. Even one from the dealer would be $1000-1500. You can get CAPA knockoffs for a fraction of that. Get your paint guy and glass guy and you have a bargain, especially if it goes closer to 20K than 25K

    • @mexicanspec
