    If you think 2012 is a long time ago, I first saw Slayer in 1990, alongside Megadeth, Testament and Suicidal Tendencies. Saw them twice after that at Donington Park, '92 and '95. They never disappointed. Awesome live band.

      There in '95. See Megadeth on Youthanasia tour, and Overkill on Killin Kind. And Shitallica at Earl's Court '96, and they should've ended in '86, or '85.

      Yes. Corgan has also said Smashing Pumpkins started out as a Metal band, but those influences often get diluted by the other styles and influences they include. They’re an amazing band. I’m proud o have been one of the few Metalheads who’s loved Smashing Pumpkins since Gish.

    Huge Slayer fan here. Loved this reaction. I agree this was probably one of the more palatable Slayer songs for a first time listen and reaction to, but may I suggest the songs “Blood Red” and “Seasons In The Abyss” for future Slayer reactions? There’s probably more I’d add to those, but from my poorly trained musical perspective the Seasons In The Abyss album has their best crafted and somewhat musically coherent material. I’m sure Judson would probably dig them. Good channel, I’m now a sub. Can’t wait to see more.

    Dave Lombardo is the drummer on this album, he left the band in '92 to form Grip Inc. He was replaced by Forbidden drummer Paul Bostaph who was then replaced by Dave who left again in 2013 to play for Testament and Suicidal Tendencies and was replaced by Jon Dette. Paul rejoined the band for their final tour in 2019 and Jon is playing for Anthrax while Anthrax drummer Charlie Benante tours with Pantera. Dave made me switch from guitar to drums on Show No Mercy. He was supposed to play for Testament on their 2023 tour but is sitting out, he's playing for The Misfits, yeah, that band from Cliff Burton's tattoo.

    Of the "big four" (I have no respect for that honorary corporate title) Slayer and Anthrax are the two that I've been a fan of since Day 1 of hearing them in the early-mid 80s and still am. Never liked Megadeth, for some reason I never liked Dave, over time I realized the many reasons why it's justified, now I loathe him. Metallica was just never the same after Cliff died, James tries to imitate his songwriting style, particularly the power ballads but they come across as very Country/Western and bluesy and maybe some old school Psychedelic Rock. Lars just lost interest in growing as a drummer, he still plays the same way he did in 1990, nothing new and he still botches a lot live, as a drummer myself I'm disappointed in Lars, I learned every Metallica song up to Master. Nobody is too good for a click track, except Lars. Kirk really doesn't do anything now that he hasn't done in the 1990s either, they're stagnant as a band, Cliff was their heart and soul.

    • @uoabigaillevey
      @uoabigaillevey ปีที่แล้ว

      I considered the mid to late 90s (Load/Reload era) to be more alternative than thrash (Alternica). In early 2000's they went after Napster so I stopped buying their albums in symbolic protest. When they finally realized technology would outpace their efforts and released every track from Hardwired to youtube before the album dropped I changed my stance. In any case.. after Jusice they became commercial. Still are to this day. It's still decent music but definitely lacks Cliff's touch.
      As for Megadeth, I enjoy the music well enough. Don't care if Dave is a jerk or not.. I never interact with him so it does not affect me. the music is good... that is literally all that matters to me. Of course liking/disliking any specific music is up to each person individually and nobody can say anything one way or another about anyone's musical tastes or preferences. The entire band can be horrible people but if the music is good and you can hear it for free then why not? All you are doing at that point is limiting your musical enjoyment. If you do not like the music then cool beans. Don't listen to it. If the only reason you do not like the music is because you do not like a band member though seems silly to me.

    South of Heaven, East of Eden, West of ?, North of ? These songs and books need to be written. Slayer came out years before Smashing Pumpkins did, just so you know. Megadeth should be on your list of melodic metal. TOOL and Dream Theatre and Rush and Opeth, too.
