After revisiting your video and other resources time and time again, it strikes me that the midpoint is the rebirth of the hero, but an unfledged form that must be harnessed through the final half of Act 2 and cemented by the resolution-- like learning to walk again.
If it's more material than internal, then it seems to be twist or discovery.
I've noticed some variations as well. One is where the protagonists makes a defining first step in a different direction and gradually makes way towards a final form (Godfather, Up, and most other movies). I've seen others where they completely overshoot in the polar opposite direction, spending the remainder of the movie calibrating towards balance (Fight Club, Mean Girls... that's all I could think of).
I wanted to run these by you to see if I'm missing a beat, and if you had some additional concepts to consider. As ways, thank you for your videos. They are gems among the sea of white noise.

Yes, it is a kind of rebirth. The midpoint raises the stakes, there's no turning back. I believe it would also help if you combine your current knowledge with the concept of character arc. Depending on which character arc the protagonist will have from beginning to end and what is the lie he/she believes or not (which also means what opinion or thought does the screenwriter actually wants to share with us - you always find this in the end of the story) that will also help you to define what goes in the midpoint and why.
@@ScriptwritingTips Thank you for the reply, Apollonia, and I completely hear you on the point of no return and raising the stakes. As for the character arc, do you mean whether it's a positive, tragic, corruption or flat arc? Then use the raw concept to convey the moral/theme or the story?

Apollonia, I think "premise" is one of the most difficult things on screenwriting. Now im reading John Truby... Could you make some day a video about premise?
