What really put the photoplayer out of business was the invention by Wurlitzer of the hope jones unit orchestra or theatre pipe organ which evolved from the photoplayer as the theatre pipe organ performed exactly the same function as the photoplayer. The rest is history!
Thanks for asking. She's definitely having some problems. Could use a restore but I don't have the time or money to do it. She still makes a lot of fun noise and can play the majority of the original sound effects but the dry climate is creating more vacuum leaks that I can't find. There really isn't anyone who knows these machines well enough to come help me fix the little problems. I play her every show and she still makes people smile but not sure how long that will last.
@@johngoss4522 it is a shame. I heard of some people who know hepaid repair American Fotoplayers, but like you said they are all very old, and mostly live in California. I am also not sure how similar American Fotoplayers compared to Wurlitzer Photo Players.
@@johngoss4522 Mind if I ask, but how exactly is the horse hooves sound effects made? I am trying to figure out how each sound is made and I am struggling on that one because it is not completely shown in the video.

What an totally awesome instrument! Wow!
Love it
The Vox Humana stop in the front, during "Five Foot Two, Eyes of Blue", is slightly out of tune.
I dont understand why youtube says there are two comments, but there is only one before i sent this comment.
Great instrument I would rather hear the photoplayer on it's own with no singing drowning it out
How is this photo player doing now?
