Everytime i repeat the track, i find myself discovering new. tones and sounds. Flume does a great job on layering and creating new sounds that make each listen different.
He doesn't create his own sounds. Flume paid 300k to have his Skin album presets designed for him.

This is one of my favorite Flume tracks of all time.
The way the vocals cut out and the vowels of that sharp synth ring out in this very atmospheric and ryhtmic waltz through each downbeat, the delicate vocals with this gritty and textural sound is from 2050 or something, and the fact in this song the vocals all come together at breathe at the end and sustain is just beautiful. It's just such a thoughtful track, I want to give my man a hug for this one❤

I just remember hearing Gravel Pit when it first came out like 10 years ago. Stuck with Flume ever since, been my number 1 listened to artist for over 8 years for a reason. None of the songs ever disappoint

Flume always has this organic naturey sound that i never feel with any other electronic artist. It's like his music is a pure electronic representation of nature.... of life ...of the reality of the divine

@@ethancryder8570 there’s an element to sound design and arrangement that gives a song a natural feel, compare this to techno or standard house and it sounds much more alive and ‘organic’
@@ethancryder8570 yes of course it's electronic but I would argue about 80% of Flume's samples and sounds are organic and acoustical. His drums have knocky, almost fluffy qualities. His lead synths and pads are typically vocal samples or based on organic instrument samples/patches.. but then after all that, there's also tone. His arrangements, melodies, and compositions do feel airy, brisk, and are far from being locked to the grid with all the swing he uses.. they feel and hit like urban and hip hop tracks, which again are highly sampled sounds typically. His chords are emotional, if not classical sounding so our instincts feel Mozart but our bouncing asses say "dance music."
Let's not even talk about the creative mixing and delicate airiness of most of the females he collabs with. The shit sounds like butterflies on crack and it's glorious.
So yes, it's electronic, but his sound choice and influence/swag on it is clearly that of a "natural" approach.
Yes, I'm a snob, but I'm also a longtime fan and a full time music producer/mix engineer who agrees with the original comment in a very understanding way. Most people can't explain it, but I'm one who can because I live for the artist's perspective and intention.
