I remember hearing this for the first time and literally almost crying. How can something so far in the future capture nostalgia from decades before when it sounds like nothing you’ve ever heard?? All I can think about when I hear this song is every special moment I’ve ever had with good friends and heartbreaks with girlfriends. Not only does this song make me think about the past but I also think about the present and what I want for my future. There are better artists in this world but flume has this crazy ability to make you truly feel something special with tracks like this. Some people won’t get it and I feel sorry for them
I love how Flume's drops aren't heavy, but so chill feeling. I feel like alot of problems songs with drops have is that some of them try to go too heavy to the point it makes an otherwise good song sound worse than it should.

So I always liked this song but today I listened to the lyrics for the first time...I have tears in my eyes. Like most songs I enjoy the tune of, the lyrics end up being deeply personal and relatable to me. I'm 26 years old, and my early 20's and young adulthood were filled with many hard times, loss, stress. There was good times too of course, but I was homeless at one point, moved 4 times in a year, lost nearly everything I've ever owned since childhood (that hit deep with the lyrics), then I was in the hospital and needed 20 stitches plus surgery for an accident that resulted in an ankle tendon rupture. This was all within the course of a year and a half. I finally got an answer for something(s) that went undiagnosed for literally decades, cut myself off from unhealthy family after legal issues arose, went through a series of iffy or unhealthy relationships accepting far less then I deserve and choosing the wrong people, and had a miscarriage. It could always be worse but I've been depressed and anxious for the past 14 years of my life. Now is the first time in awhile I haven't felt it for a prolonged period. Of course there's episodes of sadness or anxious negative thoughts here and there, but the clouds have lifted and been gone for weeks for the first time since I can ever remember. No therapy, just finally stress free. 🙏 💕 I had been to therapy many times and medication was thrown my way but I was scared to try because of side effects, things I heard and stigma. I wish I would've tried as an aid and realized it isn't just a crutch; but I think the reason I felt so awful was because I was always on high alert/anxious due to the environment and situation I was in and people I was around. This song reminds me of where I came from, and gives me hope of where I am going. I hope everyone has a great day and a bright future ahead of them. Thank you for reading ❤️

I recon his mixtape isn't super accessible on first listen but on the 2nd or 3rd time through you can really appreciate the textured, hard hitting, sloppy and fluid production. Loads of moments that sound just amazing with headphones and also bits where songs flow seamlessly. If you find it a bit too experimental to sink your teeth into I recommend his song "you know". It's a pretty great story based hip hop track with flumes trademark sound. Great stuff
