I just purchased a 2021 Honda Pilot
EX-L AWD. I Purchased these mats, and I also had some SERIOUS hesitations with drilling into the seats. The Velcro idea, was genius, and worked great. Thanks
Awesome, congrats on the new Pilot! Glad the velcro worked for you! I installed mine a few months ago and they are still holding up.
Just wanted to follow up and see if the velcro is still working? Does it move at all? Have you slid things over it and any movement? I love the seatback covers, but don't want to drill in either.
@@ryanhopper2020 The velcro is still holding great! I have not placed many objects on the seat covers in the flat position but staying vertically the way they are in the video, the seatback covers haven't moved at all.
What is the material like? Plastic or rubber? Is it pretty durable? Does the cargo mat move around at all? I just don't want a cheap piece of plastic covering everything. I have a WeatherTech that I bought, but with the folding storage the WeatherTech does not adapt to it.
@@ryanhopper2020 The material feels like a mix of plastic and rubber to me, it's not too grippy and flexible like rubber but also not super stiff and smooth like plastic. If you got oy our Honda dealer, one of the display models might have the liner installed. I have noticed many dealers like to put all the accessories they can into the floor model, install a "limited edition" or other madeup dealer accessory badge and overcharge the price. 🤣
I used Velcro also. I might have over done it a bit as I used industrial strength 15lb holding power velcro. I also cleaned the seat protectors well with isopropyl alcohol. I cut the velco down the middle to 1/2" strips so they would lay on the protector better. Also, I warmed the velcro a bit with a heat gun to get better adhesion. Also, after I installed them I laid the seatbacks flat and put a weighted box on the covers/seatbacks. I think I'll leave that overnight so the sticky glue on the velco is well cured.
Wow, well done! Those seat back protectors aren't going anywhere.
Thank you. Excellent advice and to the point. We have the 2023 Honda Elite with the brown leather. Pretty!!!
After 2 years, how is velcro works? I'm worry about hight temperature inside vehicle at South California.
Velcro is holding up just fine, it hasn’t fallen off.
Appreciate it, now I’m considering getting this as well as the cargo cover. Thank you
In my opinion the Velcro option was awful. The mats on the rear seat backs will frequently move or get caught on the bottom corners when raising the seat-back from a flat position. So sloppy too. Just get the snap kit that should come with the OEM mats and have a handy friend help install. Much better fit and stability.
Has the internal temperature of vehicle during summer or hotter parts of the year effected the adhesive backing of the Velcro, leading to loss of secured padded protection attachment to back seat?
No problems, Velcro and its adhesive backing to the seat protectors is going strong!
@@OwenLucas thanks much, and God Bless
@@OwenLucas good morning Mr Lucas, do you have any suggestions or DIY video on second row OEM seat covers? Or suggestions on either installing OEM protective backing prior or after OEM seat covers? Thanks much again and hope you have an enjoyable week especially with use of your nice Honda. God Bless
@@bobbythurman4456 I haven't tried them but I am sure they are high quality considering how well constructed all of the other Honda accessories I've used previously have been. If they can work together is a question I can't answer unfortunately, not sure if they wrap around the back of the seat or have straps. If they go over the seat back completely then using the seat back protector would be difficult and you might have to use the drill / well nut method and go through the seat covers, pretty destructive IMHO. Maybe an aftermarket solution could be helpful. Good luck!
This a great observation. I'm in Dallas and our summers here are brutal. It remains to be seen how the sticky on the velcro holds up. I am not as concerned with the hooks on the velcro staying stuck to the seatback but the glue on the velcro to protector is the concern. We shall see.
Did you use the black or the white fasteners? The video makes them look grey, and the link takes me to the white ones. I get that it doesn’t matter but it’s killing me tryna figure out the exact ones you used 😂
Thanks for pointing that out! I used black ones. Here is the updated link: amzn.to/3t5jwza
Thank you! And thank you so so much for making this video. I just got a 2022 trailsport and my protectors arrive tomorrow. I will be able to install these and remove them when not needed all thanks to you. Cheers!
I'm pretty sure it will, but just want to confirm if these will work for a 2022 Special Edition?
Honda parts websites only go up to 2021 but I think it should since the vehicles design has not changed.
@@OwenLucas thanks! And a great video, Velcro method looks like a winner.
Could these be installed in a 2017 Pilot Elite ?
It doesn't look like it is available, officially. If you conduct an online search of accessories available for the 2017 Pilot, through a dealer website, the protectors do not come up. I have a feeling it might still work but you have to make sure the 17 seatback is the same as the 19-22.
Any chance you installed the cargo side protectors as well? It seems like it covers up a lot of important features and is also a hassle to install.
I thought about installing the cargo side protectors but after I saw them installed on a display vehicle at the dealership it I decided not to. First off they don't look very good, too rugged and second, you have to drill into the side panels to install the protectors! Kind of defeats the purpose.
@@OwenLucas Right the destructive nature of these protectors is very counter-productive. Having second thoughts about it, but I think your solution for the seat back makes sense.
@@OwenLucas If I ever need to put something in the car that may be destructive there is also the cargo liner accessory available to purchase from Honda. I might get that for now.
@@benslepp455 great point, my second purchase was cargo liner; wet, dirt or debris easily cleaned up by removing liner, spray off, dry and replace.. rather than immediately cleaning / detailing back cargo area, or being lazy and not doing anything.
