To me, this song is about growing up, leaving my childhood behind, leaving the magic, imagination and innocence and leaving my childhood behind, slowly learning that the world isn't really as it had seemed, and as I'm getting ready to go to university next year, leaving with a heavy heart, unsure of how such a perfect world existed to me, but keeping it in my heart and not letting it leave, the memories, the freedom, the love, friendship, adventure and beauty. It's not as sad or deep as what many people think of when they hear this song, but when I listen to this I like to imagine my favorite fictional character. I don’t really know how to explain this but when I listen to this song I think of an angel showing a small child whom had cancer or something like that around heaven and it makes me so sad. I cry every time I hear this masterpiece.
This song will always hold a special place in my heart. When I was recovering from my eating disorder, I also struggled with insomnia and had extreme hunger, so when I'd wake up at 3 or 4 AM and was too hungry to fall back asleep, I'd play this in the kitchen and dance to it as I waited for my meal to heat up in the microwave. Special nights- pain, but healing pain, and not needless suffering.

He wrote it late into the night when he would dream about both his time in Wonderland and his time with his daughter, the dreams meld together. He looked forward to his dreams when he could be with her and although he knew he was dreaming the memories from his dreams kept him going while he was awake. He sings the song to Grace as a lullaby after the curse is broken. Grace wonders about his time when he left her, where he went. For me this song represents the childhood I was never allowed to have. It's the joy of watching my siblings and cousins grow up without a care in the world and also the sadness that I'll never get that. It's the pain that comes when people tell me I'm to young to be so sad and bitter and that I should look on the "bright side" even though my light faded the first time my dad put my mom in the hospital. But it's also the relief in knowing that I am prepared to help others through the pain and suffering, into a stable loving environment. But most of all, this song reminds me of the people that didn't give up on me when it seemed like my life was going nowhere, the teachers and relatives that constantly pushed me to be better and the brothers that made me want to be a better person.

This somewhat reminds me of my own childhood, I had so much as a kid. The world seemed so bright and the people were so kind, it was like a shining star but now the light’s slowly fading and there’s nothing I can do to bring it back. The room that was filled with laughter is now filled with tears, the screams of joy are now heard as screams of pain, the snowball fights are now real fights, the cheerful talks are now arguments, the kind praise I used to hear everyday is now nothing but insults. The world and people is nothing like it seemed, the world I saw was peaceful and everyday was like heaven, there was no such thing as sadness or pain. It was a endless road of happiness, a life to its fullest, the happiest dream you can imagine, the brightest and best smiles ever seen are there as well. It would be a beautiful cabin in the woods, where there is a small town/village not far away. No one is abused or hurt. No one judges anyone else for their looks, abilities, sexuality or personality. Where anyone can go and forget everything that weighs them down. Where I and others don’t have to pretend to be happy and put on fake smiles. Where we are genuinely happy.
Mine would be a happy place, all the sad people get to their dreams, everyone can reach to the stars, there's no hatred, sickness, racism, bringing eachother down, and everyone can get along with eachother. That's all I ask, is it that hard...?

And we'll all live in a cottagecore area and there'll be animals and those who had allergies before won't anymore. And wild animals will be friendly. This song actually makes me really happy. The thing is... we can still have Wonderland. It can always be inside of us. We don't have to lose the wonder, open curiosity, and unaffected joy of childhood. Yes, there is ugliness in the world, toxic people, horrific happenings. I've been through a lot of awful stuff. BUT there is also sublime beauty, and kind people, and simple pleasures. And those are the things I chose to focus on, and ditch the toxic people and things. The simple beauty of a sunrise, the burst of flavour from a strawberry, the softness of a blanket, the crackling of a fireplace, the warmth of a smile. Hoping you find those joys and sending so much love to you all.

I don’t really know how to explain this but when I listen to this song I think of an angel showing a small child whom had cancer or something like that around heaven and it makes me so sad. I cry every time I hear this masterpiece.
This song will always hold a special place in my heart. When I was recovering from my eating disorder, I also struggled with insomnia and had extreme hunger, so when I'd wake up at 3 or 4 AM and was too hungry to fall back asleep, I'd play this in the kitchen and dance to it as I waited for my meal to heat up in the microwave. Special nights- pain, but healing pain, and not needless suffering.

For me this song represents the childhood I was never allowed to have. It's the joy of watching my siblings and cousins grow up without a care in the world and also the sadness that I'll never get that. It's the pain that comes when people tell me I'm to young to be so sad and bitter and that I should look on the "bright side" even though my light faded the first time my dad put my mom in the hospital. But it's also the relief in knowing that I am prepared to help others through the pain and suffering, into a stable loving environment. But most of all, this song reminds me of the people that didn't give up on me when it seemed like my life was going nowhere, the teachers and relatives that constantly pushed me to be better and the brothers that made me want to be a better person.

This somewhat reminds me of my own childhood, I had so much as a kid. The world seemed so bright and the people were so kind, it was like a shining star but now the light’s slowly fading and there’s nothing I can do to bring it back.
The room that was filled with laughter is now filled with tears, the screams of joy are now heard as screams of pain, the snowball fights are now real fights, the cheerful talks are now arguments, the kind praise I used to hear everyday is now nothing but insults.
The world and people is nothing like it seemed, the world I saw was peaceful and everyday was like heaven, there was no such thing as sadness or pain. It was a endless road of happiness, a life to its fullest, the happiest dream you can imagine, the brightest and best smiles ever seen are there as well. The people are kind, forgiving, and beautiful, they always shine just like the stars you see on a starry night. i think of wonderland as the place that all of the people who suffocate in their emotions go after they finally give up. the depressed kids are congratulating everyone for trying their hardest because they know how it feels. the anxious kids are trying to comfort everyone because they know how it feels.
I was going through really tough times and I was listening to this song one day and, it talks about how you can escape from reality into your dreams. Everyone that is in "wonderland" has a "heavy heart" so everyone that's there is going through problems.

We don't have to lose the wonder, open curiosity, and unaffected joy of childhood. Yes, there is ugliness in the world, toxic people, horrific happenings. I've been through a lot of awful stuff. BUT there is also sublime beauty, and kind people, and simple pleasures. And those are the things I chose to focus on, and ditch the toxic people and things. The simple beauty of a sunrise, the burst of flavour from a strawberry, the softness of a blanket, the crackling of a fireplace, the warmth of a smile.
