- A great flight off Mt Etna the Volcano on Sicily. We flew off from about 2900m and landed on the beach almost 20km away. Absolutely fantastic above the clouds in the boundary layer!
When we tried to get public transport from Riposto station near our landing the place was dead - no trains, no buses, no taxies! Thank goodness a local could take us back up the mountains for a fee!
Launch was tricky with the wind, sharp rocks and cross direction but we did it! After we still had to fly out low over a bit of a plateau, the ash where the road is would have been fine to land in, but the lava flows after definitely not an option,! But we just got over, unfortunately not in the video, the launch and getting away were my favourite parts, as well as landing on the beach from almost 3000m!

You took off at 2090 and made 3000m of vertical? 2090 or 2900? ;)

Hey Seb, congrats on an amazing flight! I'm heading up there tomorrow. Weather should be clear, but with a chance of stronger nth winds. Any tips you might have would be very welcome, especially for weather info etc.
Thank you, sorry I see my reply is a bit late! I hope it was not too windy, I use windy.com to check wind a relevant altitude. For Etna I would aim for super light winds. Hope you flew. Cheers.
Cool flight. I wont also fly from Etna next week. I hop ist is no to much Wind :)
