3x designator (since the best decks are running over 12 non engine staples these days so you have to fight fire with fire playing combo)
3x ECON (if you’re not playing this you are missing out)
      3x ash (could be 2)
3x book of moon (obvious side deck choice that I like personally, this could be anything for a matchup or crossout targets, 2x nib 1x veiler or something)

      1x called by the grave
I’m not saying don’t play the planets or kash cards, because they are good, just more droll and lock bird weakness, which the deck suffers under worse than any other.
The main deck core is pretty standard, no terraforming or reframing, those cards basically do nothing (reframing is fine if you are going first, I’m not assuming I’m winning the die roll)

okay, but people hate a ton of decks that could win a YCS that format though.
The only good thing about the format is it does have a bit of variety, R-ACE, Pure or Unchained Lab, Unchained, Pure or Horus Tear, Infernoble, Branded Despia or Chimera, Purrely (Spright), Fire King, Centurion, Vanquish Soul, Dragon Link, Rikka, Kashtira, Runick variants, Mikanko, Mannadium, Floowandereeze. Not to mention rouge decks that sometimes top that might have potential.
However, even though these decks might play differently, for a lot of people, they just aren't fun to play against.

@@Bergsen_Bun-sense There is a reason why when people talk about how diverse formats are good, they talk about a format from years ago (like TOSS or HAT) instead of the one just happened a few months ago. because it would make their arguments look bad.
Here are some of their complaints:
+ Tear is one of the top decks in that format.
+ Out of all the top decks, only Unchained is bearable.
+ Toxic decks like Infernoble were complained about by top players. Pak said he hated the format because of this, so he said he would become the problem. Josh also agreed with him, even saying that if he didn't go first against Pak, he would lose.
+ Overwhelming to side. This never got talked enough. When I ask people who like diverse formats why they hate this one, some said it is because Tear is one of the top decks. Then why wouldn't they just side a lot of their cards against Tear? Oh wait, they can’t. If they did that, how can they prepare for other decks? Despite shitting on pros for having the sentiment that they don’t like overwhelming diversity, people share the same sentiment that that format was bad.

The issue with wide formats in Yu-Gi-Oh is that all of the decks in a wide format each operate on an exceedingly different, unfun axis that usually ends in some flavour of "draw the out". Mannadium, Centurion, Branded, Drytron and 30 different stun decks are common and expected in a wide format, all win the game immediately and all require different outs to beat.
IshTear, while a tier 0 format, was infinitely more fun and accommodating to rogue decks than some wide formats

Personally I like a little variety ie 2-4 decks being meta viable with some rouge under it over wide formats because I find it fun to play against the same decks over and iver so that I can learn to play efficiently vs them and for my opponent to play efficiently vs me. In wide formats it feels like the level of play goes down due to people needing to either tech in certain cards in their side board because they might run into something making it so I don't ever need to play around things and people don't have as much practice my deck so sometimes you just get someone because they didnt know your deck can do that. Honestly, Konami TCG should just burn so that both formats are unified.
Waiting 6 monts/a year to get the stuff OCG plays with already just so Konami TCG can make a profit by looking at what's topping overseas and bumping up those cards' rarity is fucking cringe.
And the banlist is different because this delay in product release would end up with cards getting limited/banned before hitting TCG stores. You'd think they'd be fast to hit broken cards on the banlist if a deck has been tier 0 for six months in OCG already. But no, they let it slide for like three banlists to sell as many packs as possible, unless the tier 0 archetype is low rarity and you don't need to open that much to build a deck.

Yep I agree. Thank you. Why take part in a game that is meant to have a roster of several decks/archetypes and then advocate that that roster should be cut down to 2 choices? Part of the appeal of cardgames is that there should be a sizeable amount of deck choices that appeal to a wide audience. It's supposed to be inviting people in to join and find something that appeals to them. Tier 0 formats suck because it doesn't do that. And you're gonna whine hard about probability and variance. I actually hate yugioh rn. I just got back in the game 3 ish years ago and it's a load of bull that I have experienced both tear format and fire king format since I came back. This game was a lot of my childhood, and it's damn near unplayable now. at least in tear format I could play dragon link and absolutely obliterate any tear players I came across (I find it super funny that tear v dragons was like an 80% win rate for me). there isn't an answer like that in this format, and it's incredibly sad. if tear zero formats are going to take hold, at least print direct counters to the cards like with bystials and tears.

    There's quite a distance between 1 or 2 deck formats and 15+.
The issue people have with 15+ T1-2 deck formats is that games can turn into more of a rock paper scissors, where some decks you will just lose against, based on what you're playing and what your opponent is playing. You'd have to side deck specifically for the matchup in a way that prevents you from building your side deck to works against a wider variety of other decks, and still not give a great chance.
I think Farfa's middle ground was closer to the best formats; 2-3 Tier 1, 3-4 tier 2 (~6 total), and any number of rogue decks

I personally would *much* rather wider formats than a tier zero format any day of the week. Not that they are necessarily better, but for the love of the heart of the cards, let me play against *some* variety.

It's funny how ocg and tcg can be vastly different.
At the same cardpool, fire engine has never been becoming tier 0 (only capped at high tier 1 around 45% representation) in OCG and way more affordable than TCG. I wonder why both of those thing happen tho.

    • @the_cool_dudz9394

The cost is mostly due to the fact that the ocg cards get printed at lower rarities.

TCG kills alternative good decks too early.
    .
This Tier-0 deck is great for competitive players. You can always be ready to beat your opponent with your counter cards (just pray you draw it at the right time). You can find the best deck to play easily. This can be a great filter because poor players will perform poorly with their poor deck.
    .
Also, this Tier-0 in YGO always feels like Chess, but sometimes player A starts with a Queen but player B doesn't, also player A can move 5 times before player B does anything. As a person who loves chess, the experience is cloooose enough.

Now now hear me out, what if instead of banning or limiting snake eyes deck which lets be honest what konami do its unlikely will give snake eyes deck a needed nerf considering some of its playmaker that makes the deck good are still relatively new card so the chance konami will ban them is low, we just released some of the card in the banlist so there will be deck strong enough to beat it and hence diversified the format. For example what if we unbanned kitkallos, maybe tear will be stroung enough to combat it and makes the format nota tier zero format. What if we unbanned block dragon maybe adamancipator will be coming back and storng enough to rival snake eyes , hell lets u hint some of floos card( even though i di wtf floo can do against snake eyes) so there will be fire , water, wind, and earth deck that are viabel and lets called it avatar format. @@MobiusMundUr who said any of this, stick to what i am saying. I am saying ya floodgates are a thing and hit everyone, but people who spend 3k on a meta deck will complain more because their decks get beat by a $1 card than the rogue player who didn't spend much on their deck. You are playing rogue, you already know you may not be able to play against the best deck most of the time. Meta players never expect they are going to lose because their decks can make all these negates and stuff and they lose to a single card. I tell them cry about it, they see how it feels to be locked out by a single card. Do i think floodgates are healthy, nope, but i also don't think these modern decks are healthy for the game either especially when they don't get hit as often till a year or two later when the next 3k deck comes and we get 3 years of it instead

9:01 hard disagree. for me, the worst formats and metas in EVERY game i ever played were formats that had 15+ viable options. formats like that require you to dedicate TOO much time to the game if you wanna be good. good for spectators, but miserable to play cause you’re CONSTANTLY stressed about your next matchup and end up losing cause this one dude played something you’ve never had the chance to play against before. 3-4 top tiers with 3-6 good rogues is the sweet spot.
