17 years with my Grandfather and he spoke like This and I isn’t understand a word he said lol. I was his favorite though and he taught me a lot about his home country. Best day was him making a kite out of a cornflakes box on the country’s Independence Day. Rest on grandpa

I’m not Jamaican but something similar has happened to me before. I ran into somebody who called me my full government name-that’s when you know they really know you. I tried playing along with some generic responses but at some point he was like “You don’t remember me, do you”. Instead of just fessing up I went ahead and said of course I knew him. I knew I shouldn’t have as the words we coming off my mouth. He looked at me dead in the eyes and uttered those dreaded words “ where do you know me from”. Needless to say, I have never been so embarrassed.

Backfoot is like saying Wow. It's a surprised expression. It's not usually followed by "man" but it still makes sense if it is. I think the "man" belongs in the following sentence.... "Man, mi nuh see yuh inna long time"
@zak283 perhaps you're are not jamaican? What you've noted is the English understanding of the term. Its not how its used in the context of this video dialogue. No jamaican says I'm on the back foot in that way. They would say "pocket bruk" "pocket empty" "mi frass" ( although frass has different meanings) or "mi bruk" "bruk like dawg" or something similar.
@@user-dx5mg9by9yJust wanted to point that out so they dont seem innocent. In fact, most of the owners were Irish, thus the reasons why Jamaicans have so many Irish last names.
