I decided to edit out the bonus stages to focus on the missions. It's a fun extra on the Sega Ages release. Definitely gives you more of a fighting chance than the original co-op version.
@homiedclown Yup, they must have lost the licence to display the Marilyn Monroe image. For a while, I thought they were teasing Altered Beast as part of the Sega Ages line...
@@retrogamesreloaded they probably never had a licence (if one even needs a licence to depict her at all) SEGA was notorious for just ripping things off to use in their games. Sounds effects ripped from Rambo and Conan in Golden Axe, a screen grab of a movie used as the title screen for Thunderblade, Rambo, the Terminator, Spiderman, Batman, and Godzilla all in Revenge of Shinobi etc.
@homiedclown That's actually very true 🤣. From the five minutes of research I've just done (I'm very thorough), it looks like the Marilyn Monroe image is copyrighted. Even Andy Warhol didn't have permission to use the promotional photo for his painting. So, I'm guessing Sega decided to err on the side of caution. Although like I said for a time I thought it was just Sega teasing Altered Beast as part of the Sega Ages line 😅.

The coin-op is much harder
You're absolutely correct. This mode gives you more of a fighting chance. I've also got a playthrough of the original game on the channel.
How many hits till you go down this mode? Also, you also get to keep the powerup shot??
