I was so jealous when you did your video short from London, not from travelling to London (don't miss that) but the show. Ford D series on the right as you drove in to the camp site brought back memories. Love Whitby but it feels a bit over commercialised but maybe I'm just becoming an old curmudgeon. Love the smell of a steam engine, this is one for me hopefully next year and would hope to do all the days to get the value from the camping, may even enter my Herald Pickup Looks like you had a great time David & Rachel. Cheers K.
Great you spotted the Ford D series in the way in. The smell of steam was certainly plentiful and really added to the atmosphere. You could certainly keep entertained for the whole thing as much more than I showed in the video to see. You should enter your Herald Pickup 👍 Have a great weekend - all the best, David & Rachel
What a fabulous weekend. I would have loved the steam rally and with the good weather it looked pretty busy. We have enjoyed Whitby twice this year and still haven’t seen it all 😃 Very enjoyable Vlog 👍🏻 safe travels 🚐 Trev
Thanks Trev, I think the perfect weekend would be arriving on a steam train via the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, going to the steam rally with fish and chips of course - Whitby’s great isn’t it. Have a great weekend, all the best, David & Rachel 👍
Not a bad price for everything that was included. Great that you could walk to Whitby. Ah. That’s the famous 199 steps! Some lovely little shops in the old town. Can’t beat some posh sweeties and chocolate🤣 lovely to have some fond memories of your childhood too. Abbey looked interesting. Beautiful. Love some of those old traction engines. Especially the mini ones. Lots to see and do. Some nice vintage cars. Carousel brings back memories. 🎠 Graham had a Triumph Toledo 😉 we must be vintage too! Our dogs don’t like fireworks. OMG one of those vintage motorbikes was identical to mine! I do feel old🤣. Loads going on. Looks like you had a great time. Nice coffeeee. 👍😊
It was a nice break and certainly lots to see and do with some fascinating engineering. You’re right there was something special about the small traction engines. Shame about the rain at the abbey or we would have spent more time there but always a good reason to go back - definitely Whitby is a great place to visit if you are in the area. I felt old looking at some of the cars which were now vintage, many of them were around when I was younger. Great you saw a motorbike which was identical too. You could easily visit for the day and miss the fireworks. Hope the video didn’t frighten them. Thank you and all the best, David & Rachel ❤️
Looked like a great weekend. I liked all the old steam machines and I’ve become a bit of a fan of classic cars. I liked that you could walk into Whitby. I guess for a family of 4 it would be good value as it included entrance to the attractions. The fireworks display was a brilliant way to finish the weekend. Take care Gill
Thanks Gill - if a family of 4 went Wednesday to Monday and went into the show each day would be excellent value for money. I originally planned to go on Thursday but had some things change and ended up going Friday morning. The engines were fascinating as were the cars - you could spend literally hours going around. Have a great weekend, All the best, David & Rachel 👍
Looks like you had a decent trip. Whitby is a lovely place with so many things to see and do and you've shown some good ones. Plenty of places to eat and drink too. You could almost smell the steam and coal burning 🤣. A good shout regards Roxy being safe and not exposed to things that may scare her, sadly not everyone thinks about their pets. Some great old cars too,my fave being the mk2 escort as that was my first car and that colour too. All in all another great vlog so thank you Rachel and David 👌
Thanks Tim, we thought it best to keep Roxy safe, it’s the motorbikes she hates and we didn’t want to set her back by exposing her to what set it off in the first place. Some of the engines really made some smoke 😃 The mk2 escort was great wasn’t it - takes you back when you see ones from your past and brings back the memories. Whitby is great always brings back childhood memories for me - I don’t think it’s massively changed in the past 4 decades in real terms just bits and bobs. Thanks again. Have a great weekend, all the best, David & Rachel 👍
Looked like a brilliant weekend you all had, love the smell of the steam rollers and the chugging sound they make 🙂 Great weather as well. All the years ( to many) i have been to Whitby i have never been in the Magpie Cafe , always a massive queue outside, so we normally just go to the pub 🙂 Brilliant vblog guys
It was a great weekend all In all and a bit different. We’ve been twice to the magpie now, this time and one time a good few years back - we just happen to hit it early enough when there wasn’t a queue, had their been we would have gone somewhere else. It was fantastic fish and chips and to be fair not too bad a price. Sure the pub has additional benefits 👍😄 Hope you had a great time at Hawes, all the best, David & Rachel 👍
Hi thank you for the excellent video, one small point, for future reference - the stationary engines driving the pumps, ducks , generators etc are usually run by petrol, the steam you saw coming out of the top of the hopper was cooling water used a bit like a radiator in a car. Looking forward to your next video, thank you and all the best
Thank you, that would make sense as I saw some which were definitely that way being driven by dual or LPG, that’s answered a question I had as I had assumed on some they weren’t steam but then on others that they were. Really appreciate you letting me know, thank you. All the best, David 👍
Hi we enjoyed your vlog from Whitby steam fair …so much so I have enquired about Aileen trading at it next year …do you think the pet stall would fit in
Thank you - really appreciated. I think it absolutely would - there were a couple of stalls selling some pet bits and bobs but I didn’t spot anything as impressive as Aileen’s - there were a surprising number of dogs there too so think it would be definitely worth giving it a go and it’s a lovely place also and there was plenty of footfall. (I tend not to capture the busiest bits). Thanks again and good luck, hope you manage to get one sorted. All the best, David & Rachel 👍

@@LeisureBit Lovely time in Hawes, still got to do a little video, one night is not enough though, got to be 2 nights minimum tbh. Cheers

The little steam engines that you said on the video.they don’t run and steam they are old petrol and oil engines called stationary engines
Ah thank you for correcting us x it helps in the future thank you x

@@LeisureBit plus we could have caravan at the back of the stall
Yes, I imagine that makes things easier. Plenty of folks seemed to be buying things too
@@LeisureBit just emailed the organisers and got reply 5 mins later that they had added us to the data base for early booking
Brilliant - fingers crossed for great weather next year
