I'm a diehard Notre Dame fan and have watched every play for the last 20 years. Mayer might be the most talented player I've ever seen go through Notre Dame. He is the best player on the field every single week and keeps improving. He has maybe the best hands I've ever seen for a tight end.

He's the best TE I've ever seen in college football. I'm a diehard ND fan but I've also seen like 6 or 7 tight ends in a row go from ND to the NFL so I've been watching NFL caliber tight ends at Notre Dame for like 20 consecutive years. He's phenomenal at everything but I'm shocked by how good his hands are.

Michael is the most dominate high school football player I've seen in Kentucky. Dude was a man amongst boys. Wish he would've went to UK, but can't blame him for going to South Bend. He's my favorite non-UK player in college.

According to stuff I’ve read and heard, Brian Kelly as a coach is an asshole. As an LSU fan I really don’t mind that after the years with Coach O. Imo it was time for ND and Kelly to split. LSU got a great coach and ND got a good young coach with a bright future. Good for two prominent schools.
ND fan here. I wouldn’t say asshole. Vast difference between the two though. Marcus is a young, up and coming coach who really connects with the kids and the families. He’s literally the lead recruiter for just about every recruit. He played at Ohio state so he know what the process of being a high end D1 recruit is like. Kelly is 60 and he’s old fashioned. He didn’t recruit in the summer. He didn’t communicate with recruits or even players that much. Kids would get recruited for months and wouldn’t have even talked to him or met Kelly one time. Kelly is a winner though. Good luck to you guys this season

I can tell you that Kelly was a douche. There were a lot of rumors that had Kelly stayed on, Mayer may have transferred to Alabama. Alabama (or someone affiliated with) offered Mayer 7 figures to transfer.
@@stormwarning1235, I’m not saying this to be an a$$ but he’s not up to par for what I’d expect for LSU. Kelly made up a bunch of BS excuses about having to shop down a different aisle at ND and that’s why our classes were not top 5. No, he was LAZY and Freeman is crushing it and destroying all of BK’s excuses.

Rumor was that if Kelly had stayed another season, Mayer would have left after this past season. Mayer will not be staying for all 4 years unless something seriously sets him back. Mike will be a 1st or very early second round pick, at worst, so he will be gone after this season.
