    Interesting to see the damage to the anti drainback valve. This filter is spec'd for the Toyota 1FZ-FE. Many on a Land Cruiser forum have reported oil starvation and engine failure and found orange anti-drainback valve material in their oil pickup. All of them were using WIX 51515 or 51348 filters/napa equivalant. WIX/Napa helped one guy but most were told the filter was working as intended..

      Yep, it's difficult to prove an oil filter caused an engine failure because basically your word against theirs.
      If the filters you mentioned are known to have bad anti-drain back valves then I would stay away from them.
      Thanks👍

    • @WhipCityWrencher
      @WhipCityWrencher  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The filter came to me with a lot of oil in it and I always stick a Q tip in there to drain out whatever I can. First one I've seen with a slit/hole in the ADBV. Mabe the Q tip, did it? I dont know.

      That looks like a Purolator tapping plate, Purolator has had a long standing issue with poorly deburring the underside of the tapping plate and the ADBV getting slit.

    Umm, to start with a 3.6l v6 was never a factory engine in any Camry of the 90’s or even early 2000’s. They used a 1mz-fe replacing the 3vz-fe. I hate the 1mz engine, had to tear down too many from the oil literally cooking in the valve cover and it taking out the cam journals or causing a valve to stick and eventually taking the bottom end. That engine got Toyota sued because of oil sludging, like many cars of the late 90’s and early 2000’s from various makes which is why oils changed so drastically in mid 2000’s. Engines were starting to get too hot for the same old oil and turned into charcoal internal
