thank-you! Having the (blue) lower looper thread over the green one and over that hook did the trick!

Finally, after so many tires, I unthreaded the needles, rethreaded them and it worked.

Thank you, ocsewing - I didn't realize you had to unthread the needles first, and was having the exact problem you describe. I'm pinning this to my sewing board for reference.

I threw mine in the trash about six years ago after throwing it all over the garage and breaking it up as much as I could. It was the best $200 dollars I spent. Much satisfaction. I bought a White that does the job without pissing me off.

    I've had this machine for 15 years! I took a class!!!!!!!! S - T- I- L -L cannot keep the third thread (green) threaded!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The only way I've been able to use it is to keep it threaded with white thread after getting it back from being serviced.
Unfortunately, that cone ran out of thread several days ago, so I've been trying to re-thread it. No matter what I do, that stupid thread is going to break after the first inch or so.
I hit the jackpot once and did a whole side of a blanket . . . but then, out of the blue the stupid thread broke!!!!!!!! Now it's back to over and over and over threading; rethreading; unthreading; rethreading, etc. You know the drill.
My little WHITE serger that I bought in 1986 has never missed a beat! Why can't this piiece'a crap be like the old ones?!!!!! I bought this thing for the "cover" stitch, however, after crying and screaming thru the class, I would never attempt to do that without a tutor over my shoulder!

I have had mine for several years and I get a migraine every time I try. I wish I could trade it in on a self threading serger

I've had the 936 for many years I always struggle with the green looper thread. No different now. I tie off move the tensions to zero and the looper thread breaks almost every time. Still trying to get the very last step of threading done. I appreciate your help but I'm still struggling.

Okay, I realized that I NEVER EVER WILL USE THE 5-THREAD OPTION. So, I removed the hook mechanism that has made it so difficult to thread because I can't see behind the damn thing. This has made it easier for me to thread, but I still don;t know how to make the sttich WIDER. My stitches are about 1/4 wide, like a lettuce leaf finish. This doesn't not work for me.
