  • Riding the Sherco model range during a demo day at Muddobbers motorcycle club in Indiana. It was a fairly small loop, but enough to form some opinions, especially since I had the change to take a couple of the bikes out more than once.

Good afternoon, I d´ont understood your comments about 125, would you mind writing a short summary of your perception, greetings from Barcelona

First of all, I've had a Husqvarna TE150i (same as a KTM 150) for a couple years, so that's my main basis for the comparison. I also have a couple friends with Yamaha YZ125x's, which I've ridden.
The Sherco 125 engine feels in the middle between the Yamaha YZ125x and the 150. It doesn't have a ton of low end grunt, but a little more than a traditional 125.
I think most manufacturers use a different frame and chassis setup for their 125s. My impression is that Sherco simply put a 125cc engine into the same exact bike (chassis, suspension, everything) as a 250 or 300. The issue with this is that Sherco bikes are already VERY nimble. With a 125 being super light and not having a lot of engine stabilizing effect, it made it feel too nimble, almost twitchy to me. It's definitely less stable than a YZ125x or a Husky/KTM 150.
I personally found that the Sherco 250 was my favorite. Just the right combination of grunt and flikability.
      Hope this helps.

Riding between the 250 and 300 2 bangers, I actually liked and felt more comfortable on the 250. But I'd still buy the 300 due to the popularity and should sell quicker and easier

      I agree. I liked the 250 a lot more.
I hope Shercos become more popular and selling them isn't such a pain in the ass. It's one of the things that's keeping me away from the brand. Around here a KTM will literally sell in a matter of days. Anything else, even a Husky or GasGas, will take much longer.

Here in Australia, Sherco is very popular and there's a lot of blokes coming off KTM and switching to Sherco. Sherco is way better value and you get a lot more things standard. Sherco is the best out there at the moment.

@@bradleyaustin2369 that's what I hear about Australia. It's not the case in the US unfortunately. Especially this year, since a lot of the manufacturers have been offering crazy deals.
You could buy a new KTM/Husky on for slightly less than a Sherco or a Beta. GasGas for A LOT less (think $1500-2000 less)
Resale on anything that's not a KTM, Honda, or Yamaha is also not great. I've seen folks struggle to sell their nearly brand new Shercos for nearly bottom dollar. So if I was looking for a Sherco, I'd be going with a low hour used one most likely.
This has nothing to do with how good the bikes are, just pure economics. The bikes are super fun.

Do you think maybe the stiffness that you are experiencing on the different bikes could be chalked up to suspension/clicker settings? One thing I noticed by doing a beta demo day was that all the riders getting on and off were doing adjustments and the bikes were all over the place with throttle maps and tc and clicker settings. You still have the TE 150?

That's a really good point! I didn't see anyone messing with the suspensions at this one, but it's entirely possible. These demo bikes had quite a few hours on them as well, so who knows. Tire pressures could have been different as well.
I just sold the TE150 a couple weeks ago. With the crazy discounts this spring I couldn't help not getting a GasGas 300. I wanted a bit more low end grunt for hard enduro races. I was having a lot of issues making it up really loose/steep climbs on the 150... the kind of stuff you never really see in "normal" riding. Frankly I don't know if the 300 made it much better, I think it's mostly a question of skill 😁 I love the GasGas, but there are certain things I liked about the 150 more. It was more confidence inspiring to try really gnarly things on, and it was still the best running TPI bike I've ridden.
I was seriously considering keeping both the 150 and the 300 because it's such a great bike, but I have only so much time to ride and I hate seeing things sit around unused. I was trying to sell it to someone I know so I could ride it again once in a while haha.

Anyone with common sense gets the suspension revalved once you buy the bike. Get it done you’ll never go back.

You're correct, I thought I mentioned that in the captions, but apologies if I haven't.
