    Hi Kyle, thanks for posting these videos. You are one of the reasons I purchased a 2020 SEF Where did you land on your clicker settings? I remember you saying in an earlier video that you had compression speed up. Thanks again for everything you do for the community!

    I'm sticking with the fact that your tired because the Sherco is a 4 stroke...LOL

    great tip about fork alignment. Kreft taught me that years ago. BRILLIANT DUDE

    Kyle, your axil comments are even more applicable if the suspension has been shortened. Some methods to shorten the legs require cutting of the internals (like mine). They have never come out the same, ever. Right now on my 2020 TX 300i, my right leg is 2.1 mm shorter than the left leg. This causes my forks to NOT be the same in the triple trees.
    So without your method of checking, the forks will always be bound up.

    I did the same on my bike and also liked the setup way more for the tech riding.
    I broke a thumb on a crash and it is taking very long to heal , I ended up fitting Neken SFS top tripple clamp and also their handle bars with the thick rubber grips to try and help while Im recovering. The Meken setup is awesome but it also meant I had to drop the shocks back down in the tripple clamps because when the SFS system compresses , the bottom of the handle bar touches the top of the shock so no more 3mm proud shocks for me.

    I did the same to my forks. Was really happy with the results.

    Kyle, I made a test ride video and complained about the forks too. That bike was just ok IMO. Wore me out at Hidden Falls.

    Kyle, you mention in this video that dropping the forks "lengthens the bike out." Due to the forks being on an angle I would expect the opposite. As you move the fork further up in the clamps the axle will travel along the axis of the fork which moves it up and closer to the bike, not further away. Another way to think about it is Imagine the front end as a right angle triangle where the fork is the hypotenuse. By moving the fork up in the clamps the hypotenuse is shortened which means that the other 2 sides of the triangle must also be shorter, resulting in a shorter wheelbase. If I'm wrong please feel free to reply and explain.

      You are both right. He went from 9.25 mm of fork tube above the top triple clamp to 6.25 mm sticking out above the top triple clamp which lengthens the wheel base and makes the bike more stable at the expense of turning.

    • @rorypassmore

      That makes sense, thank you for answering

    • @robh3267
      @robh3267 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Rory you are correct he has it backwards moving the tubes up in the clamps quickens the steering at the cost of some stability because your changing the steering angle of the bike.

    • @tcmx712
      @tcmx712 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@robh3267 thing is he dropped the tubes in the clamp. The 6/9mm measurement is how much fork is sticking above the clamps so going from 9 to 6 is dropping the forks in the clamp. 9mm from factory is alot though I wonder if the shop made a mistake when putting it together

    I use calipers as well. But mine is up 1 inch. Due to the fact I lowered the back. This is on a drz400. Have had it this way for 40,000 miles. No issues. If done right, yes it effects handling. But if you look it that way and decide to mot do it, well then you might as well not ever run a full tank of fuel or ever out luggage on and off it, or wear a heavier jacket, cause weight on your bike effects it as much if not more than lowering it...if done right... I have a 30 inch inseam, if i dont lower a bike, I can ride one.lol.

    Lowering the front of the bike steepens the headtube angle and therefore should decrease the length of the bike and quicken the steering making the bike a bit less stable.....or am I missing something?

    Man, those forks are almost 3/8" up in those clamps. that seems really high and could make the bike super twitchy. Maybe that is just normal for Sherco? Idk Somebody who knows please tell me

  • @chrigul1
    @chrigul1 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi, normaly the bike is getting more agile and less stable when you push the forks through because the angle gets smaller. It's kind of interesting that you made the opposit experience on the Sherco..

    • @Frank88Workz
      @Frank88Workz 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      he went from 9 to 6, think about it, when you do that, the wheelbase gets slighly longer, so more angle.

    I will tell you another secret.
    If you ride the same bike for several years, you will discover that the suspension system actually softens up to a comfortable level.
    Riders that buy a new bike every season will never give the bike a chance to truly break in to be plush unless they spend $$ for annual mods due to their impatience and want for immediate comfort.
