Ive been into mandala and dreamcatcher crochet projects lately Most are smaller but I love the large ones a lot also. The larger hoops are hard to find. I purchased one on line and its too heavy for my liking. I love the hula hoop idea! This is so pretty! And looks very lightweight which I love.

I just got done making one and it's SO pretty, but I am a bit disappointed that the finished project doesn't look like the one in the thumbnail photo. It turned out pretty anyway! My hula hoop was only 20" diameter and I had to use a size N/10mm hook, so I omitted the last row of each of the first two colors. Even so, the webbing is still quite loose on the hoop, so next time I will use a bigger hoop and try to get a 9mm hook. My hoop was silver sparkle with patches of orange, pink, and purple, so I used those colors to match the hoop. Thank you for an easy to follow tutorial for making a beautiful decoration for my home! EDIT: I found the pattern for the red/orange/yellow mandala on your web site! Going to Dollar Tree tomorrow to get more hoops!!

Hi Donna Thank you for this beautiful scarf tutorial & pattern. I have started it with the long chain about three times & am really struggling... Any tips you have on handling such a long chain, with such soft, delicate yarn would be appreciated for a beginner like me... I'm having trouble with my count, it seems to change every time I recount it...and the chain gets twisted & messy looking in the process and I seem to lose the definition of the chain stitches. I know once I get past these starting problems it will be fine but I am not succeeding with handling such a long 200+ beginning chain Regards NewbyLynne
Hello! To make the design smaller you can use a smaller hook, thinner yarn, and/or just skip a few rounds and proceed to the last round for the edging.

I think if you used a smaller crochet hook, and did less of the rounds, it would fit any size. Whatever round looks like it's getting close to filling the hoop, just use that one to then crochet around the hoop like I do in my round 10.

+naztazia I actually went ahead and just followed. It worked out perfect, i think using a different ply yarn i got it to fit. 8ply in Australia. Cannot wait to make the other 2.
I love the Dreamcatcher pattern! I've made three! Today though I went to make one for a friends birthday, that's coming up, and it won't work. I'm using the same hook, hula hoop, and yarn, as I did for the other three, and when I get to the last row that loops around the hoop. It's like its not big enough.. It wont stretch to fit. I don't understand what or why this happened..?

Happy to help! The one in the video 0:23 is 26 inches. They can be a little more or a little less as needed.
