This game looks incredible! When Maggie showed how the newspaper articles slide in behind the treatise I literally swore in appreciation. I’ve been backing a bunch on crowdfunding lately and I think this is likely to be added on day one.
Hahahahaha yes the newspapers fitting so nicely into the treatise and then citing each other with them is sooo thematically cool. Glad to hear you're excited about this one!
What a wonderful surprise! Fantastic preview, guys! I love that you're both falling all over each other to sing this game's praises. As a Uni psych student I was already excited for the Kickstarter to launch, now I am doubly so. I am in the throws of planning to move down to Melbourne so hopefully I get to play it with you both sometime in the near future rather than waiting for you to visit Brisbane again. Either way, your excitement for this one is infectious and I can't wait to see it in person!
You're moving to Melbourne?? That is super exciting!!!! Also thank you so much for supporting the channel as part of the joeyfam... that really means a lot to us. 🥰 I don't think you're on the discord though? Would love to have you join!
It seems like games like this one are part of the reason why you continue to try new games. It's always exciting when you find one that's an absolute homerun for you. Great preview!
YES that is exactly how we feel. It's like a constant search for *the one* in boardgaming isn't it? I mean and in life Heavy thematic euro is our jam! Thanks for watching Craig and hope you've been well ❤️
I’ve been jazzed for this one for a while now, and am so glad to hear how much you both enjoyed it! I’ll be even more enthusiastically backing it now. 🎉🤓
Eeeee! It's so exciting and satisfying when you find a game that suits your gaming preferences so well. Thank you for watching and for your support of us and the channel always 🙏❤️
Wow very high praises! Despite this being a preview, it seemed like your enjoyment out of it was truly heartfelt. Looking forward to it’s launch! Hopefully won’t break the bank!
Thank you Nick. All of our preview work is unpaid and while we only choose to do games we're initially drawn to we are definitely always honest in our opinions. I'm glad that came across in the video and appreciate that you took the time to comment. Thanks for watching!
Awesome review! I have been enjoying endless winter. It was everything I was hoping it would be. I plan on supporting this company again on this project. Great content, your review flowed well and was easy to follow and understand. Love the comment about how fulfilling it was working as a psych nurse in the mental health field.
Absolute no brainer for backing this one - your enthusiasm for it cemented my plan to pledge. I have to say though, I wish these reviews came a bit closer to actual release. We're currently in the final weeks of Q4 2022 - this is slated to release in 2023, though I haven't seen exactly when in 2023 it's expected to land. The way things have been going lately it could likely be 2024. I'm not sure what solution there is with timing the promotion of crowd funded projects like this- but, I'll still be backing it and dreaming of the day I can sit down and play.
Yes you're right that there's a bit of waiting to be had to receive the game with these Previews (Giuseppe notes correctly above that the campaign launches in just a few days). There should be another wave of Reviews once the game is launched though. I hope 2023 brings an opportunity for us to play this (or anything else!) together in person. Thanks for watching and your support as always ❤️
I hope they add a little indent (canal) to the insights board to hold the beads at each of their levels (seeing as how its already a double layer board)! I think that would be a really nice touch. Very excited for this game.
Sooo true that would be lovely.... as long as they are easy to get back out again! Thanks for watching Krissy and glad to hear you're excited about this one! ❤️
Cool game. My "shelf of shame" is growing too much, so I'm very cautious about backing game right now. But with your love of it, I'll put it on the "maybe" list. Great shirt Maggie.
I was lucky enough to be a part of early playtesting for this game and now I've got a physical preview copy that I get to show to my gaming groups and I couldn't be more excited! The game is absolutely brilliant and I'm excited to see the changes they'll make between now and the finished product to polish the game even more! Another phenomenal game, Fantasia Games! 🧠
Oh how cool that you playtested it! Always so grateful to playtesters as we know how much effort goes into providing feedback and how important that is for streamlining rules etc. So thank you! Hope you have so much fun playing with the prototype and we're looking forward to seeing how the campaign unfolds as well. 😊
@@ThinkerThemer It has been really cool getting to playtest for Fantasia Games! I can definitely vouch for how sincerely they want to create the absolute best experience for the people who will end up playing their games! Thank you for all your work learning, playing, and reviewing so many games! I always love the perspective you two provide! ☺
This is definitely a no brainer back for me. The only thing stopping me from backing it is my budget. I really hope it will be affordable for me. Thank you so much for this glowing preview.
With the way kickstarter games are going and the quality of the components here, budget will likely be an issue for many people. My guess for now is 150-175$ of my worthless (apparently) Canadian dollars.
@@S.L.INK.13 Hi there. We always try to keep our prices at a very affordable level. The tiers of the game will be 70, 90, and 120 USD with some extra free gifts for each tier.
So glad to hear you're excited about this one, thanks for watching and taking the time to share your thoughts! 😊 And this was a super helpful thread to learn the prices (thanks Fantasia for jumping in!)
I hate reviews like this because now I want the game and I can’t have it yet haha. You did a great job explaining the game. That cover art on the box is beautiful!! Everything about this game makes me wanna play!
This might be the game that pushes me into playing heavier games. I had found the art and theme very compelling and now that I see how it plays, I'm very excited to try it!
It's definitely on the heavy side but once you get your head around the turn structure (the first couple of games) that's the most challenging part... and then finding the different strategy levers you can use to generate points is the learning curve that keeps it interesting. I hope youre well James and thanks for watching as always ❤️
Didn't expect anything else :-) I am so much looking forward to this game. Two of the best artist involved, a great meaty euro game which drips with theme. Yes, I kind of feel this will be the one!!!
Ahhhh yes you will adore the art...!!! And the component quality of our prototype is so nice that we have very high hopes for the final game. Thanks for watching Sebastian and hope you've been well ❤️
It's so exciting when you find a game that just suits your preferences so nicely... isn't that half the joy of the endless quest in board games 😄 thanks for watching as always Bill and hope you've been well!
I just got a chance to try this out and yes, it’s great. I was a little lost at the beginning of the game, but picked it up fairly quickly once we got going.
Yes it's definitely not the easiest to figure out the different levers but we found we got better and faster with each game too. Glad to hear you liked it Don. Will you back it?
You guys are so awesome. I have really been looking at this game since Essen and I’m so excited to see your reaction to it. It’ll be a game I back, even though I don’t love backing games and I prefer to buy them at retail, but this just looks so good.
Aw thank you so much 🥰🥰 Glad you enjoyed this video and that you're so excited about this one. Hope it works for you and much as it did for us! Thanks for your lovely comment!
My brain melted just watching all that's involved in this one. Not much of a heavy euro gamer (though I love the odd one like Anno) but this is so damn captivating I can't help but be compelled to play it.
We feel that! I think KS might take my superbacker badge off me at this point! 😅 With postage costs it really has to be something special for us to back it prior to retail. Thanks for watching!
Thank you for your video. You influence my acquisitions. Your Dwellings of Eldervale video was the strongest influence for me to buy it when I really didn't want to touch it. Then it became my favourite game and still is at the moment. One question about Unconscious Mind you may be able to answer: it's pretty sprawled out over the table and reminds me of Endless Winter with the way all the different sections ("mini-games" as described by many reviewers) interact. I was not enamored with Endless Winter, however (like you). But does UM and EW have a similar feel? This doesn't have to be a bad thing. I just get that familiar vibe when I watch gameplay videos.
You two were bursting!!! Your smiles were so contagious! I've been eyeing this for ages and getting to see it in person at Essen and listening to the rules solidified it as an instant back! Glad to hear that you feel the same way!
Hahahaha I was leaning too far forward in my chair with all the excitement. I look like a giant compared to Maggie 😂 thank you for watching as always and glad ur excited about this one too!
Can you tell me more about the complexity level? On the BGG scale does this get up to like the 3.8 or even 4.0+ range? Ark Nova is rated as a 3.7. How is complexity compared to that? I’m assuming if you’re highlighting the complexity for your viewers, then it’s not at 3.5 (though I wish it was!). Is the lengthy set up time mainly just because it has so many boards or areas for components?
Sure can! On BGG it's listed as a 3.6. I think Ark Nova is more mechanically difficult with the action selection cards. This is not as complex in what you're doing (basic worker placement, collecting and spending resources) but the complexity is in the decision space and trying to optimise your turn. Working back from treating a client requires thinking through how to collect or upgrade the right resources and there are multiple ways to do that. So it's the complexity of the decision space that makes this feel heavy. Set up time is mostly due to the number of boards and components. Sorting the tiles and placing everything in its correct spot. Hopefully a good insert can help with this but I'm not sure what is planned. I hope that helps and thanks for watching!
@@ThinkerThemer really helpful, thanks! Sounds like this is less complex than the Essen trio of Woodcraft, Revive and Sabika. But maybe more complex than Lacrimosa and Tiletum. Have you played any of those? Wondering how you rank them and also place Unconscious Minds in the mix.
Does this game have player interaction or is it a more multiplayer solitair game? I ask this looking at the personal player boards that indicates solitair play in the game. And if so is the interaction created by the workerplacement mechanism (blocking) or are there other elements in the game that create this type of play?
Great question! The worker placement and race element of some of the objectives are really the only points of interaction. We would say it is fairly low on conflict and a bit multiplayer solitaire in feel.
Thank you for the wonderful review! So glad you’ve enjoyed it! ✨
