My husband and I watched this whole series. We really enjoyed it. I found it to be so educational! I was taught nothing like that in school. I will never feel the same way about Manifest Destiny again. The Masacare at Wounded Knee, along with so many other things, just tore my insides into knots.
This was my favorite tv show when it came on. I'm party Native American and very proud, though you can't tell by my skin color. My dad is half and I'm only 1/4, and I get my skin color from my mom's side of the family. I have the spirituality of my father's mother's people.
I where done watching the series about 5 mins ago. And I have never cried so much my entire life, not for a mini-serie. I cried about 2 and more times for each episode. And I'm glad I did, it makes me feel human. I never felt as much pain inside me as I did in the last episode, it was horrible. The entire way the Native Americans was threated, was horrible. Long live the spirits of the Native Americans!
This whas indeed a GREAT GREAT miniserie .. loved it very much .. coudn't wait till it whas sunday again and it whas on telly again .. oww what a amazing serie it whas !
I met Zahn McClarnon on Saturday.... And he was very nice. He spoke of this show saying how the first three episodes were filmed in Canada and the rest was filmed in Santa Fe, New Mexico and that it got very cold in Canada during the winter.... But other than that, he was quite nice.
I find great inspiration in both the Pioneers and Indians. Look at these people, the Pioneers took a huge leap of faith going West, risking everything and I can only imagine how frightening that must have been, there was no support and resources, like we have today, and the Indians lost everything, their homes, many family members, but stayed strong and carried on, I can't even begin to imagine having the kind of strength and courage all these people possessed. They faced these challenges head on. People like to take sides, either you support the Settlers or the Indians, but in my own personal opinion, both were incredible groups of people who showed great strength in the face of Manifest Destiny and the adversities it brought and I have huge respect for both💖
I remember hating that I had to wait for the next episode to come on. I was hooked on this series from the start! It's such a good thing my mom loves westerns and made me watch this, otherwise I would have missed this excellent show!
i LOVE this miniseries! i have always been passionate about the history of the American West...even more so after I saw this. i remember when it came out in 2005, but i appreciate it so much more after being older and having studied history in school. the first 3 episodes were the best. i especially love the love story of jacob and thunder heart woman. i wish they had an unedited version on DVD
OMG! I only can hope this series will come to my country. I'm reading the book and I love it so much! It is sooo fantastic. I don't know if the series could be as good as the novel itself.
Someone said or maybe it was Wikipedia that Naomi was stolen from the Cheyenne and sold off somewhere else. I never saw this in the version i have but the the version that was officially sold on DVD was in fact a tad shorter so i dont know. There is a 9 hour and a 12 hour version. Abe........yeah i wanted to know what happened to him as well. But the fact that he worked on the rail helped show that the Wheelers ALL left their mark on the land in some way.
The opening theme song calls out my inner Native American ancestral genes within me…the chants, cries, and rhythm echoes beyond extensively throughout my soul like the gust of wind. I’m a Mexican and Filipino but I also have the feeling in my heart that I have the connection with the Indians and Africans.
Loved by the Buffalo was the name of the man that was pushed, but I was never able to catch the name in Lakota. And yes, the school thing was difficult for me as well. But him cutting his own hair was symbolic in itself since Native men cut their hair in times of great mourning....this was most definitely a time of mourning :((
My teacher showed me this it took us two weeks to finish it. It was really good and now i learned alot about Native Americans and the Whites. The whites were treating the indians really bad .
There are several other movies over a span of decades that are about the American Indian experience: "Tecumseh: The Last Warrior," "The Mission" (with Robert De Niro), "Crazy Horse," "Little Big Man" (Dustin Hoffman), "Dances with Wolves" (Kevin Costner), the documentary "500 Nations" (hosted by Kevin Kostner), and one I feel that even though it takes place in New Zealand shows indigenous people who struggle in contemporary Western society "Once We Were Warriors"
I am German and I don't feel guilty, but we have to accept the fact, that Germany was guilty and we have to do everything to make sure that something like that will never happen again. So I guess we learned our lesson. We have to remenber the victims and it's not wrong to take some resposibility for that what happend. It's a great show so please stop trolling. Sorry for my bad English.
This movie is very touching! It makes you wanna say "this is what these white people did to the Natives?" the opening of this is beautiful...Im half native and.... damm i wish i could back in time and see the whole thing!! *tear* Best movie EVER!!!
None I've asked know of it. I remeber seeing the first parts when it was aired on Swedish television while back. So I decided to download it, I will buy it as soon as I see it somewhere. It's the most amazing catch of the real west in a show ever. What more to say.. Spielberg made it. It even made me begin learning the language of Lakota Sioux.
idk about any of you guys but i love the first two episodes with thunder hear woman and jacob wheeler wow made me cry when they got seperated so romantic those two
I do exactly the same thing all the time. The music for this entire series is awesome, beautiful and emotional. I can't explain how disappointed I am that Geoff Zanelli does not have a soundtrack for this show : (
I watched this movie like...... A MILLION TIMES!! I mean, its so good how they did. And its amazing that some of the people went to west, WITHOUT dying. And everyday when I watched, I cried!! I mean, some people were so mean!!!
nice series just finish watching it all.very sad though.it shows that even before the media doesn't tell the whole truth and it causes anger, rage and chaos.i'm just happy that some native americans{indians?}are rich now.they deserve it.and yes i know it's old show.
I believe I got mine at Best Buy. The current price for it is $34.99. If you can't find it in the store, though, just have them order it for you. Best Buy is great about that kind of stuff and they'll call you when your order is in. xox
Does anyone Know the artist who made the Theme song to the show? or what it is title is im trying to find it on Itunes and no luck Thank you all, what a great show totally changed my prospective, on the settlement of this country, how cruel we where to take this land as it was ours, im ashamed of all i believed in the spirutiuality of these all but lost civiliazations the peoples way was way better then ne development we could put in the land.....
This series stirs up so many emotions and feelings for me...thoughts about how the White Man thought they knew so much better how to live life; yet the Native Americans had no police, no jails or prisons, no government that tells the people what to do. Government was by consensus--everyone got to have their say. Those that refused to live by the Great Spirit's laws were banished. So they governed themselves. Far cry from what we have today: religion, politics, industrial/capitalistic wage slaves
@Ravagefrenzy79 You went to Best Buy to get it? Did you order it online with them? Is it unedited? Do you know for sure, like, did you see the original?
just finished watching, wat an amazing series, heart breaking to see wat happened to the native american people but great to see Nakotah acting, best hoop dancer eva
@maratmasry hey i have 4 disks and each has two episodes on it but each disk is 9 in a half hours long so 36 hours of footage but in those episodes they dont tell you wat happend to abe nor naomi
No I am sorry, I don't know. But you could always use the youtube to mp3 converter. That way you would have the mp3 file of the song, instead of going to youtube to hear it each time.
Can someone help me out? I want to buy the mini-series from amazon, but people are saying that there hasn't been an unedited/uncut version out yet, Just the one that is edited for classroom use etc. People said there are a few parts missing from the version that's available to buy :/ I want to see all the original stuff they showed on t.v. since I missed it when it originally aired. Is there a way I can buy the original?
@MsRR2009 Hi there, I wondered the same thing myself about ( Naomi Wheeler) what happended to her and her baby and indian chief husband. After watching the whole movie, and noticing she didnt reappear after episode 2/3. Well i did find out........if you watch the opening credits of CD disk #2 of this series......you will see her in an indian dress being dragged away by some US dragoons (late 1840's early 1850's US cavalry soldiers)so that tells me she either her village was killed by US troops
@heyhore15 there is a book. I found it on Barnes and Noble and had to buy it used because it was an old book. It is not as thick as Harry Potter and it is better than magik.
Seeing my cousin Tonantzin Carmelo play Thunder Heart Woman she is a awesome Native American actor
She beautiful woman though
wow damn
💖🔥🦅🔥💖
She really is one Great actress. Same goes to them all in this serie.
Beautiful! Thrive Natives! I'd like to see more in government!

Wow. Nice.
My husband and I watched this whole series. We really enjoyed it. I found it to be so educational! I was taught nothing like that in school. I will never feel the same way about Manifest Destiny again. The Masacare at Wounded Knee, along with so many other things, just tore my insides into knots.
is the story same as assissins creed 3?
It's a real shame the soundtrack for this series was never released. It has some of the most beautiful music I've ever heard.
This was my favorite tv show when it came on. I'm party Native American and very proud, though you can't tell by my skin color. My dad is half and I'm only 1/4, and I get my skin color from my mom's side of the family. I have the spirituality of my father's mother's people.
Beautiful, beautiful mini-series! My favorite. Even the opening credits are wonderful... just listen to that music!
I love this mini series and can listen to this theme song all day long.
this is one of my most favorite things to watch of all time! I watch this show at least once a month!
I where done watching the series about 5 mins ago.
And I have never cried so much my entire life, not for a mini-serie.
I cried about 2 and more times for each episode. And I'm glad I did, it makes me feel human.

I find great inspiration in both the Pioneers and Indians. i LOVE this miniseries! i have always been passionate about the history of the American West...even more so after I saw this. i remember when it came out in 2005, but i appreciate it so much more after being older and having studied history in school. the first 3 episodes were the best. i especially love the love story of jacob and thunder heart woman. i wish they had an unedited version on DVD

Best mini series to exist
Loved by the Buffalo was the name of the man that was pushed, but I was never able to catch the name in Lakota. And yes, the school thing was difficult for me as well. My teacher showed me this it took us two weeks to finish it. It was really good and now i learned alot about Native Americans and the Whites. The whites were treating the indians really bad .
it is said, that the white man will taste, what he has given us to drink.
nearly all freedom is gone like the whites will gone
Are you for real?
+Patryk Pampuch sure

@oak71 That's a pretty bold, but honorable thing to say. The military, thankfully, has changed and evolved a GREAT deal since the Plains Wars...
The music is very good
Does anyone Know the artist who made the Theme song to the show? or what it is title is im trying to find it on Itunes and no luck Thank you all, what a great show totally changed my prospective, on the settlement of this country, how cruel we where to take this land as it was ours, im ashamed of all i believed in the spirutiuality of these all but lost civiliazations the peoples way was way better then ne development we could put in the land.....
Great Add! Any have the trailer for this...you know with the two mothers and their babies, telling them about the birth and death of a nation.
loved this series when it was on to bad it was so small
OMG this movie is freakin epic!!!
This series stirs up so many emotions and feelings for me...thoughts about how the White Man thought they knew so much better how to live life; yet the Native Americans had no police, no jails or prisons, no government that tells the people what to do. Some folks are acting like this is brand new. This came out in like 2005. I loved the first 3 episodes the most.
@Ravagefrenzy79 You went to Best Buy to get it? Did you order it online with them? Is it unedited? Do you know for sure, like, did you see the original?
