I really love how the intro makes it seem like Tony is going into work on an early morning but it’s really about Tony coming home after doing God knows what all night
Never thought of it that way. I always thought of it on how the creators were going to show us something new and wanted to pound home the fact that this will not take place in NYC like other classic crime epics. This is going to be in NJ all the way.
Waste management brother ...
@@thebookwasbetter3650 I think it was done more for this reason, because they wanted to show the audience where everything is in relation to each other. Tony probably was out all night though because its 10:22 according to the clock when he comes out of the Lincoln tunnel, so I think that was a great observation regardless.
You know how it is, waste management is a tiring job!
Probably out bangin’ who’wer’s
I play this everytime I'm on the freeway thinking I'm Tony Soprano.

This is intro is part of the history of television, i never skip an intro of any shows. this one is unskippable
Shame on you if you do
It wasn’t just made for the mafia genre, the show could relate to everybody of all shapes, colors, and lifestyles. Truly one of a kind and probably debatably one of the best shows ever made in human history literally.
Yes and yes! I'm someone who despise violence and l always close my eyes on those scenes😂 l stayed cause of the immaculate vibes you just feel like you know them personally. That's how good it is
Yeah it was a masterpiece, everything from casting, writing, scenery and production was peak and RIP to James Gandolfini he was so perfect at playing this character, whilst every character was brilliantly constructed, he stood out as Tony Soprano!
I actually thought at some point the mafia stuffs are gimmick, the story is mostly about family relation. You can replace thr mafia stuff with normal job and it would work the same. Like i can feel most of the family dynamic for myself, it hits close to home😂 😂
@@rudys.artous5477 I agree partially though I think the Mafia highlights the downwards spiral best in a way no other occupation could!
So is this supposed to be the guy who did 9/11?
Best thing about this almost 2 minute theme is that no matter how many episodes you watch you need to watch every one starting from here. You always feel like you're entering another world, and everything about this theme puts you in the mood to watch an episode of the Sopranos.
Yeah… that’s what an intro is
Id say the best thing about this intro is no matter what show I watch that has that HBO static at the beginning I always expect to hear this song right after.

As someone that was born and raised in north jersey for 21 years, it is both surreal and heartbreaking to see so many pick-up shots in this intro that I can say "yeah I've driven by that."
What a show
I grew up in Elizabeth. That opening scene describes and defines that part of Jersey (never Joisey) perfectly. The way Tiny grabs the Turnpike toll ticket is spot on.

W dad
The rest has gone down in history pal.
Greatest TV programe ever.
Amazing anecdote 🌟
I like how they set the tone of the setting. The first we see is Tony is driving along a nice view of Manhattan and all of its eye-catching glory, making you think that maybe he's one of the stronger wiseguys of the big apple, a king of the Five Families. That's all rubbed out when Tony drives right into New Jersey and you get a good look at the rundown sky blotting factories and aging washed out streets of Newark. Upon reaching his mansion on the hill, you realize that Tony's not a king of New York, but rather a king of a much dirtier land; telling us perfectly well who he is and where he comes from.
Love this analysis!!
Incredible writing, buddy!
Jersey? Come on huh
Buen análisis de la intro
NYC is pretty run down
I don't think the Sopranos would have reach the pinnacle that they did without this opening. It set the tone for every episode. It's the opening that never got skipped over.
