Great video , I could tell you put a lot of thought into the music ... very nicely done . Wow , some of these people had a million-dollar view out their windows . Just as I was thinking it's incredible there's no graffiti , you came upon that one place with it , haha .
Another great video Gabe. I got to tell you, not only are your videos great but I find the way you talk and explain things particularly soothing and relaxing. I even put your vids on just to listen when I do my work, to relax in stressful times as we have now in the world. Keep up good and interesting work.
Found this tidbit of info on this town. Mostly Greeks settled it and Craco has been the setting of many movies, and was the setting for the suicide of Judas in The Passion of The Christ (2004), by Mel Gibson.

Hi Gaby I love how passionate you are about ancient history and history in general. I feel your excitement when you see magnificent ruins and admire your courage to explore them on your own. When you said Italy continues to amaze I thought to myself that you still need to visit San Giminiano in Tuscany it’s close to Sienna and dates back to the year 900 it’s a must to see it. As well as Luca near by in Tuscany too. and Ancona in the Adriatic Sea. And let’s stop here for now. Italy has heaps to offer and thanks to you I’ve discovered Matera as I never heard of it before and I practically travelled all around Italy but never heard of Matera. Looking forward to your next video which I think it will be Calabria maybe ?
am so disappointed after seeing your video i didnt take the detour to Craco while i was in Matera a couple years ago...That was an amazing video..the eeriness...the heights wouldve done me in but to capture that drive up to the town as you approach wouldve took my breath away...a MUST next time in Puglia
Anybody wanting to know full history of Craco www Ancient Origins....a very in depth history of its rise and downfall.....yes. .it was difficult finding any info on its history....
Hello Gabriel, love the Crack video, like you I love ruins, ghost towns and history. Some day I will go. Wikipedia has the whole story. I have to read it I needed to find out.
Im from holland and thank you for showing me places in europe I have never heard of, allthough I have been in these countries a few times. Makes me want to explore again.
Wowww another episode I've learned so much from your video sir Gabe thank u so much for your wonderful walk around tour in Historical places of Craco Italy stay safe take care Godbless from your solid fan supporter viewer from the Philippines 🇵🇭 sir Vhin 😍👏👏☺️🙏🙏🙂👍👏👏👏
Another fascinating video! Would love to know what happened there. Probably a sad story looking at the devastation. Thanks again for taking us along on your adventures!
The scenery looking out from the town are gorgeous. It's hard to believe people were living here well int o the 20th century.Fascinating place. I will look up some info on it. Love from Vermont
Hey Gabriel, wow what a beautiful city that must have been when it was all still standing. It must have been built in the middle ages because it appears to be very easily defended. The back where you walked and the two sides were to step to attack and the front was long enough that you could see the enemy come for miles. A great defense indeed.
As somebody who fell through an old ceiling once and badly hurt my left leg, you'd be in serious trouble if you did the same in such a remote area. Always watch your step, Gabriel. Love the videos.
There are no words. Mind-blowing to say the least. One has to wonder why? Why did 'that' one place be chosen for the earthquake to settle on destroying, there are so many other lands in the same geographical area? I wonder what their food source was, other than herds and chickens, etc. The land around the city did not appear to be very fertile for crops, etc. What would have been their water source? Fascinating. I've missed you, Gabe ❤
When I am watching your visits to a place like this I have to remind myself you survived the day since a video was posted. So many disasters within reach.
Loved your video and such interesting history of this ghost town. Your videos are spot on and relaxing. Sometimes I tend to say to myself......watch out!
What’s remarkable about Craco is that the newer buildings, which were built on the side of the “golden mountain” were the buildings totally destroyed by the landslides, which were largely related to the installation of new plumbing systems. The older, many medieval, buildings that were built on the sturdier mountain ridge were largely spared, but eventually became inhabitable due to earthquakes in the 1980s.
hi Gabriel, It definitely looks like something out of an Edgar Allen Poe book or movie these structures must have been there for a very long time and during the last 50 to 60 years have started to crumble. This is a problem with older structures that need to be checked so can work on rebuilding areas of engineering structural damage to maintain them.
Hello Gabriel... you filmed this terryfying beautiful medieval Ghost Town , its ruins and history with so much passion and skill , that it really makes me want to see it myself. It's just mindblowing... Have visited Italy many times, but I had never heard about Craco... You're a real explorer and best travelvlogger...🎩 Wishing you all the best from Paris 🖐
When looking in the caves, it didn't look like solid rock, you could see the stones in the surrounding material, therefore no strength when a earthquake hit!
Now I'm going to search for an video of this place when it was still alive with humans. This is both fascinating and terrifying. Even sad. I like that trees are growing in alleys and on what now resemble squares. Great adventure!
Thanks for showing us the another unique history on that region but I think there local government along with archaeological surveyors should take care for maintenance and preserve this old site because those ruins are falling apart or else couldn't being able to survive or stand enough may be in next unexpected disaster.
Unfortunately local government do not take care even of modern infrastructure that people still use there... Once in a while in Basilicata some road slide off or some bridge fall apart and it take years to be repaired (as long as it is done).
This must have been quite a place in its time; my family comes from a town not far from there---earthquakes were a constant threat, and people only left because they absolutely had to.
The View is amazing up there. Just be careful around those buildings they look like they want to fall apart. It is really sad to think some of those could have actually been peoples homes. I heard you mention in earthquake is what ran the people out of the town how sad for those people.
Craco was shaken by two earthquakes after the first one they were still fixing the damage after some times Craco was hit by a big one again some buildings went tumbling down below downhill. Than Craco was abbandened
I was waiting for u to get in the castle on the top. Did I miss it?,,,, I guess every hole in the ground was created by someone like u falling through. Quite dangerous
Apparently this was the earthquake that finally destroyed Craco and caused it to be abandoned: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1980_Irpinia_earthquake

Wow, thank you for sharing a once in a lifetime, I feel like I am there with you, Thank-you. amazing to see what happens to a city when years ago by.
It says online that there were landslides due to work on water and sewer lines, so under the town, and then an earthquake finished it off
I see, so the work on the underground pipes resulted in landslides, that explains the connection.
