I think true artists (I'd say Matty is one) are defined by their lack of clear identity- what makes them them is precisely the fact they inhabit different roles and blur boundaries.
@@user-ke4hi2el5k The most creative people are those that come up with diverse and original ideas- the diversity makes them hard to categorise- hence the inhabiting different roles and blurring boundaries- and the originality intensifies these things by challenging our current systems of categorisation
i think it's kinda interesting how he considers love as a form of escapism (relinquishing responsibility and being outside ur reality). sex, drugs, and religion are pretty self-explanatory but wish he would elaborate more on love! i like hearing him talk :-]
Max Flores yeah i think it’s the same concept as something like happiness which he’s talked about being overrated and constantly trying to pursue it/ thinking if you don’t have it that you’re doing something wrong. so like chasing that feeling of love or being loved is the escapism
i kind of thought about it as when you’re in love or falling in love you’re becoming vulnerable and investing your time and effort into another person instead of yourself.
And the way music has carried itself over the last few years with synth wave and future nostalgic kind of music that are just curated recreations of the authenticity that was being explored in the 70’s , 80’s, 90’s and so on it’s really interesting
CoD Aidan yeah, for sure. We are bombarded with singles and generic songs (I’m not criticizing) that lack this affection people use to have back in the day.
I would love to have a conversation like this with matty, even though I'd probably do a lot more listening than talking. He's so interesting in the way he looks at things
This may seem out of touch, but I want the lights and the effects in shows sometimes. Those are creative things. The 75 were getting so good at the visual experience of going to a concert and if they pair that down and take it back a notch I, for one, will be a little bit disappointed. Granted, they were at Zoo TV level visuals and occasional theatrics, but that shit is fun as fuck! Hopefully, they'll be able to find a way through the sun and the wind to still bring a bold live show.
I think it's so important to be introspective and to reflect on things, as we go through life we observe things. Matty does this a lot and it helps to learn about himself and the dynamic, ever-changing world. I felt it when he said he can't really comment on what he's learned about himself as a person , without properly thinking about it as there's so much to comprehend and he's still learning. I also love how he can get lost in his thoughts, and as a someone who is more comfortable with their introverted self than extroverted, I get that. To me, no album review is truly valid if it just looks at the instrumentation and not the lyrics and concepts behind them. Following the band on the journey of noacf, you can get a proper grasp. To me this is their best album, and I don't budge easily, iliwys used to be my favourite.
Tell the truth is a great advisory banner! The more true a person is, the more authentic and happy a person is. Being someone else is exhausting and impossible to live up too. I absolutely love the fact that The 1975 are just who they are. People evolve it's a beautiful thing to embrace that.
This interviewer is TOP GRADE. Like wow. I’ve never watched him before but he is improving on answers so easily and following suit of the energy being created. That’s so hard to do. I love this.
he does write most(if not all) of the material, george produces it. it makes sense for him to take most of the credit, even if the other members are just as essential in making a record
2yrs later and the prices of concert tickets are ridiculous....like in my area...to go see the 1975, is almost 200 dollars for shit seats. That just blows my mind. (Love the 1975 tho..just sad at how much the tickets are)
My guess is that Matty has lost confidence in himself. He was using his album release and tour as a gage to regain that confidence. Then Coronavirus hit.
This guys got great ideas, he should start a band
top shade :O
Yeah they look in love tho

A very intellectual analysis
I’d need more examples of other artists.
Please explain more what you sayinh

I feel like the older Matty gets, the more blunt and outwardly passionate he becomes.

Roxy music talks about what ur looking for in the love category in their songs a lot, I bet u’d like them if u checked them out mate
Maybe it's the idialism aspect of love?

you can lose yourself in a way
i can't help but stan, honestly, i love listening to him talk bc he gets so passionate but he's also very self-aware
his mind is always going faster than his mouth i swear
SO ACCURATE HAHAHA
Yup! Triple Aries ♈️
That’s the basis of depression.
Halsey said that lol
“We want to recreate tactility on the internet” that’s so on point especially when you think about the whole hype over “nostalgia” nowadays

Jeff William their setup for the last tour was insane, i have no clue how they could potentially top it in the future.

The guy can’t follow anything Matty says, just sticks to the planned questions. Shame, cause Matty is an amazing interview material.
Wait how is Jesus Christ 2005 about a for-profit prison system lol. Definitely got the part about oppressive Christianity, but not so much the other?
