Well....I thought I was an elk hunter. Until I watched this. I am impressed, young fella. I'm 58 years old, and I've been fortunate enough to take about 38 bulls in my life. I've had some "hard" hunts, but none of them compare to this. You have guts and courage that is uncommon in our day. Well done.
I found a flaw in your video…. It was too short, I could watch this type of hunting videos for hours you are a perfect example of a primitive hunter. Absolutely amazing.
What a great video. Your happiness once you harvest that animal had a huge smile on my face. Now time to watch this with my boys. Appreciate this film. Great work. God bless.
Looks like another awesome adventure. I’ve always loved listening to you sharing your thoughts from a perspective that I believe needs to be heard. I think it is much easier to know where we’re going if we remember where we came from and why we’re here today. Your work on this film is awesome and the way you told the story and talked about the struggle of those before us was very thought provoking. I thought you did a great job and can’t wait to see your next one.
Watched a Cam Hanes elk hunting video right before this one, amazing to watch the modern and traditional styles of archery elk hunting! Great video and great hunt Cade! Thank you for keeping our traditions as hunters!
This is the best thing I've seen in ages. Brother, I commend you on your virtuous endeavor. I literally shouted out loud with joy and shared in your happiness when you arrowed that bull. As a high country bow hunter myself, I am overwhelmed with emotion knowing what that feels like to have all your hard work be rewarded. God bless
Great job my toxopholite buddy, true hunt true words of success on are beloved traditional archery 👊👊congratulations , dedication and discipline constant preparation and true love of archery. Gods great🙏
Great film, enjoyed much brought back memories of a hunt i did in northern british Columbia, with an beaver indian guide for 30 days,we also ran out of food.indian guide said to me ,joe i show you how indian fish.he had an old open site 30/30,he shoot a dolly varden.funny.we got an elk a few days later, and cooked up the ribs on the open fire plus the tender loins, after that went up above timber line ,and got a mountain caribou.pack horses to pack back to base camp.which was two poles and a blue canvas,on a 45 degree angle open front.no sides.fire in front with circle rocks.we had no water,on mountain top ,above timber line ,ate snow .filled hat up with snow to melt for tea, thankyou for your show.a lot of work on your behalf with set and take down .and going back to retrieve camera.and reset for next frame ,well done. Enjoyed very much.
NEXT LEVEL AWESOME! Wow man, this was such a cool video. I loved every minute! I've spent many of my youthful days hunting in the spirit of our traditional ways and felt in awe in wonder of the men and women that came before us. The majority of the world has evolved around living in comfort and the traditional ways of hunting are a thing of the past. Mad props and respect brotha for what you've done in this video. Absolutely amazing! You've gotta make some Pemican for the next adventure!! Likes and subscribed! God Bless!
Cade Cole , gracias por este gran video. Todo un desafío la cacería que realizaste. Felicitaciones, a disfrutar de esa carne para las fiestas con los tuyos.!!!
@@CadeCole_Roadhouse I watched your 80 mile video today. Recognized that right away. I was at the small lake right below to the West of where you got that VERY nice bull, this last season. Solo backpack to it. WAY fun fishing there if you like to fish. Took my first backpack in those mountains in summer of 1969. I am 65. Big plans for this summer in "my mountains"! 🙂
49# @28” shooting Easton Carbon Legacy 400 spine arrows cut to 27.5” with 75 grain inserts. 120 grain Montec G5 broadheads. I was super happy with performance. Broadhead came out the other side and broke off when he rolled. He ran about 300 yards down the mountain
You're hardcore, Cade! Awesome adventure. I really enjoyed your perspective and taking it back to traditional methods. I'm glad you used some modern technology so I could watch the video and not have to rely on cave paintings to relive your adventure. I love the quote towards the end "to know cold, without warmth". How far did your shot end up being? I noticed you had an extra horse that didn't pack any weight out, is the point to bring them along to train them? How far in did you go this time?
Great question! The original plan was just to bareback one and pack another; that’s all I really needed. I brought the third because those three are the original trio we had before starting to build our herd so I could work for myself. Meaningful for our family to have the girls represented, but not necessary for the hunt.
What a great achievement , so raw doing what you've done , also putting yourself in danger of a Grizzly encounter . Congratulations for your extremely well earnt Bull .
Man, I'm jealous! Great job, I envy that life style! I used to do very similar stuff, kinda accidentally walked on the path of the "Real" world. Sucks! 😂
Amazing video. You just got yourself a new subscriber man and I love the gear you were rocking for the vid. Could you let me know where you got that sweet hat from?
There was a ton of luck involved with finding that one single bull bedding so far from the herd. Extremely difficult still. But no doubt luck was involved.
Traditional bow, check Coyote quiver, check Elk hide blanket, check No water container, check Bringing a modern high powered spotting scope for an authentic primitive-style hunt…Priceless 👏🏻 Just kidding, awesome hunt, better than I could do! Great video, and I agree with your perspective on modernity.
Now that was some work! Question though: Videos can be misleading, but those packs didn't look all that full for a full load of bull elk. Did you just take the quarters or was that just your first load?
Felicitaciones.
Totally impressed. And I think you nailed it. It's human to hunt and explore. No matter what equipment you use (almost). In your video you used binos to spot and stalk but our ancestors didn't have that tech. Nevertheless, you were fulfilled with the hunt and adventure.
Outstanding film. I am blown away by the fact that you killed a bull elk in open country, with a recurve, no modern gear, AND you filmed it all. That is next level stuff. It was also refreshing to see a hunter these days wearing traditional “normal” clothing, instead of the latest and greatest camouflage. Would love to see more films like this from you in the future. Curious what brand your brown Sherpa pullover is?
Thanks! It was a ridiculously hard hunt and a little lucky getting that single bull bedded in the rocks like that. Check out my 80 mile elk film! My sweater is a Buffalo Jackson Trading
1) Are those Filson Tin cloth pants? 2). If they are (or waxed pants) are they rideable in a saddle? Thinking of getting a pair for riding…. 3). Could have sworn I saw your rig pass by on the magruder corridor in the Selway this summer.
They’re Carhartt pants I wax myself with otter wax. I ride in mine all the time they’ll help wax your seat lol. And you probably did. I was in the Selway for about a month total this year.
U were born late to be a mountain man. But u r. Modern convenience has made hunters soft. Majority of those who call themselves hunters today would not of made it as pioneers. Enjoyed ur journey.

WOW. I am 100% impressed. Congrats on being an absolute badass mountain man.
The most hardcore hunting adventure I’ve ever watched. The elk harvest was icing on the cake. May you never loose your drive for adventure.

Just wow man, just wow great success on your hunt your dedication is amazing 👍
That was an awesome hunt, sir. That's for sure doing it the hard way. Congrats on your fine bull above tree line.
Awesome video!! Thanks so much for that. You put a lot of effort into the hunt and making the video at the same time. What a hunt!! Great scenery too!
Now that is traditional and hard core. Good job man.

Wonderful film, Cade!
Incredible! Just the attempt itself would have been impressive enough. To find success is truly amazing. Outstanding accomplishment!
I appreciate it. It was a tough one!
